OMG!by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Stephen, I had an issue with the Foley catheter too, not as bad as you by the sound of it. Once they pulled it out, I had trouble urinating and had some small drops of blood mixed in. But after an hour of the type of pain you're talking about I got a stream going and the blood disappeared. They used pyridium as well. The nursing staff said it could have easily have been some damage asby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doug, I didn't experience that, no, and I don't think most people do, post ablation either. An increased heart rate is common after ablation, but not to that extent. It sounds to me like you need, for your peace of mind if nothing else, to get an emergency appointment with Dr Le Maitre if you can, as so much depends on your individual circumstance.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

"Problem is, I always take in a bunch of Potassium and 20 minutes later my heart is calm. In general, if I maintain Potassium supplementation, my heart is calm"? My experience, post ablation, too. If I get missed beats which I still get once every 3-5 weeks or so, Potassium seems to fix itby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
James, I noticed you saw Natale a couple years ago. Are you still thinking not worth going the ablation route?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I take Potassium Chloride powder a few times a week - it has 730mg in one quarter of a teaspoon. Trouble is it tastes like hell whatever it is mixed with.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
McHale, it (AF) was getting frequent - a few times a week - stopped with Flec. Yes I am glad I did it as I have been in NSR since. I had a few rough periods with PACs or PVCs but they seem to have subsided and to have been brought on by dehydration. Dr Barrett certainly has Dr Natale's confidence or he wouldn't be the Director of the new NY Instititute, so probably if I ever did need aby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr Barrett, Director of the new center, did my ablation at MGH 6 months ago. He and Natale were close during the Boston AF symposium. If anything needs 'unconnecting' I'll probably ask him to do it.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I am not sure if he practices in NY. The Director is the MGH EP that worked on me at MGH This world-class facility is being directed by Andrea Natale, MD, FACC, FHRS, FESC, an internationally recognized leader in arrhythmia management and ablation procedures. Throughout his career, Dr. Natale has focused on innovative advances in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other complex arrhyby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
>chest is going to be cracked open and ribs cut and then wired closed. Recover time? Wow, that takes me back to when I was mid 20s and had a pleurectomy which involved just that. I was on Morphine for a week and lost a lot of weight - took me 6 mths to feel ok again. I hate to think what that would be like 40 years on. I guess I'd only do it if it was a matter of life or death.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Any opinions on this? Has the Time Come to Abandon the Concept That “Pulmonary Vein Isolation Is the Cornerstone of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation”? I noticed Dr Natale is listed as Executive Director, Al-Sabah Arrhythmia Institute in New York, while the EP that did my ablation at Mass General is now Director there. Mine was 2 hrs 20 mins for PVI so I guess I don't understand that either unless they are somehow measuring it differently. The abstract doesn't say what was ablated, but if it was a short procedure time I would have thought it indicated just a PVI.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Abstract at:- Andrea Natale contributed. Apologies if posted before. Conclusions—In coexistent AF and AFL, lower recurrence rate and better QoL is associated with AF ablation only or AF +AFL ablation, than with lone AFL ablation. Furthermore, QoL directly correlates with freedom from arrhythmia as shown in this study for the first time, in patients blinded to the procedure.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have the same concern. This nutrition science is in its infancy. Someone (a doc) was pushing acetyl-l-carnitine as a great enhancer to ubiquinol. So today even docs who are paleo are saying "uh oh"? Who the hell knows how arteries are getting stuffed or whether Lysine et al reverses it. Until Dr Spock is real and a simple arm scan shows all, what to believe?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Actually I mostly took a tab of Potassium Iodide every day- each one had 32.5 mg Somedays I took Lugols 2% for an equivalent dose or somewhat less Nowadays I take Iodoral but maybe just once a week - that has 5mg Iodine and 7.5mg Potassium Iodide I made sure I got thyroid tests while supplementing. I never mentioned it to the EP, thinking they'd be dissmissive of the attempt ..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I did - started using Lugols and other forms - I really thought it had fixed the AF. I went 6 months with just one noted incident. But then it came back with a vengeance. Worth a try though.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
