I'm almost at 6 months since ablation now. I've had no provable AF at all, but have seen more ectopics, but those seem to be related to dehydration with me. I've noticed several things along the way. From a HR of 50-55 pre ablation, to 70-75 now. There was a week a few months ago where HR went down to 50-55 again. What was that about? Cardiologist seemed to think not much of that.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's a cohort from long ago in EP terms >Consecutive patients with paroxysmal or persistent AF who underwent PVI at the University of Pennsylvania from 2000 to >2003by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Gill, did you have them before the ablation?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
"HE said he has never heard of that name or description: Lone Afib. " How old/young was he? Most younger docs are only used to seeing it described as Paroxysmal AF. Lone AF is the older phrase. Even so, he should have a clue.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My experience too, Tom, although truth be told I didn't mind Flec that much and was on 300mg as a Pill in Pocket when needed and it always worked . I guess it was tolerable because I wasn't taking it every day but usage was getting more frequent andt getting bouts of AF a couple times a week sometimes and never knowing when it was going to strike, well I got really fed up with that. I am definitely noticing more of these now, 5 mths after ablation. I probably had them before. Question is are these things that prior to ablation might have initiated AF?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ok thanks Shannon. I asked because I had had 1 or 2 episodes that lasted 24-30 hrs and I asked the EP if there was any remodelling likely (and he had the MRI as well as the echo at that point, whatever they could tell him) and he said no there wasn't likely any.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
" it is still paroxysmal AFIB that stops on its own but with episodes lasting as long as 24 to 48 hours. That is considered long standing complex paroxysmal AFIB and in the vast majority of cases will require additional ablation work in addition to, and outside of a standard PVI isolation" Shannon, are there to your knowledge any studies detailing how many of these 24 hr episodes havby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Right, ablation is not major surgery by one definition but as far as calling it minimally invasive which they do, I guess they mean by that they are able to just open a couple of veins to gain access. But then as Jackie says, what they do after that sounds scary. I guess I did have almost a 'just go do it' attitude as I calculated, I think, rightly, that my risk was low - less than 1%by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Noreen, yep AF in Afhound is for Afib but touch wood, since I had the ablation October of last year, I haven't had any AF, just some runs of skipped beats from time to time that typically coincide with being dehydrated. As for Low Carb, sure you can do it for a few months. Here's a link to a popular site. The main thing is to lay off grains and starchy food or budget how much of it yby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Noreen, are you on a low carb diet? That will drop weight big time.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Most people here get minimally invasive catheter ablation. It is really no big deal as far as the procedure is concerned, at least for most people. If a very experienced EP suggested it has a good chance of getting you into sustainable sinus rhythm, it would be very worth looking at.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had one ablation in October 2012 for Paroxysmal AF. It was 'standard' Pulmonary Vein Isolation, I think Circumferential. So far I haven't had any documented AF but some PACs are still around.. I went to an experienced EP at Mass General who had trained with Dr Natale in Cleveland, and judging from many of the knowledgeable people here, you want someone like Natale if you have pby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Louise, have you contemplated getting an ablation from a highly experienced EP?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm really sorry about all that happening, and especially sorry so much of your suffering was unecessary.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm at 5 months, no AF either but getting more PVC or PAC runs for some reason.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
gleeloyd, surely the most likely culprit is Niacin, even if it just started manifesting itself. Niacin is weird and I stay off mega doses.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Peggy, thanks for the suggestion. It (KCl) tasted marginally better than Cod Liver Oil. I'm not even sure it works for me anyway.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
The only thing I get a rash from is too much Niacin. As for Potassium I was overdoing it without knowing it. I checked the bottle a week ago - Potassium Chloride powder - and it says serving size 1/4 Teaspoon (1.4g) Amount of Potassium per serving 730mg.. I has misread it as 1 teaspoon for 1 serving. But I was only talking it occasionally anyway.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Scaling is a form of expensive torture. I use Hydrogen Peroxiode now and it works better at least for me.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is Dr Natale the only EP. I know he is one of the best.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Ron, was at Mass General EP Lab . Yes, no afib as far as anyone has discerned so far. The least of the issue is a catheter in the groin. My procedure went fine except they probably did some damage putting in the foley catheter as when they pulled it out there was some blood but that was not typical and resolved itself ( except I am being hounded by a MGH urologist to allow them to put a cytoscopeby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Before I had the ablation (Oct 19th of last year) I avoided Chinese food of a certain kind. Often General Gao's chicken would be hard to digest for example. If I did order anything it would be non-MSG contaminated and not so spicy or fried. On the few times I did have MSG in Chinese food it would inavariably start an AF incident. Anyway, after the ablation, I relaxed the rule and while it diby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
