Murray, I found KCl works too to get rid of skipped beats but just now they seem to have been excised using a couple of Magnesium tabs.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought low heart rate was always an AF predictor before Ablation. It was always 45-55 (45 being at night as registered by a Holter) then increasing with exercize of course. Now, 8 mths after standard PVI ablation it is all over the place. It ran high 80s for a while as expected, then I had some odd days of skipped beats or PACs, mostly as a result of dehydration where it was down to 50 bpm,by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I use Potassium Chloride -the bottle actually says can be used as a replacement for table salt! Yes, it tastes just awful but with 1 teaspoon containing just less than 3 grams, it is a quick way to get it in your system. I just mix it with some orange flavored water,.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Objectives: To evaluate early outcomes of left atrial appendage (LAA) closure via a percutaneous LAA ligation approach with the SentreHeart LARIATâ„¢ snare device. Background: Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of stroke 4-5 fold, which can have devastating outcomes. Exclusion of the LAA is believed to decrease the risk of embolic stroke. Conclusions This population based study supports the hypothesis that the risk of drug treated lone AF increases with declining resting heart rate in both sexes, and with increasing levels of self-reported physical activity in men.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph, I never had any aflutter bit Flec 350mg plus 40mg Diltiziam as a PIP always worked for me - fwiwby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph, fwiw Flec 300mg Plus 40mg Diltiziam always worked for me as a PIP with no discernable side effects, well maybe I got tired sometimes. I would't want to do it every day necessarily. I chose abation 8 months ago and so far it has worked.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't know what the answer is. I know a lot of people in England swear by the National Health Service there but I have seen how it worked out for my parents first-hand and it wasn't pretty.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Why our ablations (and colonoscopies et al) cost so much more than anywhere elseby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Oh yeah, seeing as he is Irish he would've remembered that (and a lot of other stuff going back to Elizabeth I).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks McHale, I am surprised he remembered me.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Real men use RF!by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I used it (300mg plus 40mg Diltiziam) as a PIP and it always worked. I chose to get an ablation because I got mentally tired waiting for AF to happen and I didn't want to be on the drug on a regular basis. Shannon convinced me in a very helpful reply to an initial post (and my EP confirmed) that it's better to be proactive because AF gets more difficult to treat if it gets persistent aby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So, McHale, how was your Foleyby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the update on McHale, Shannon. I spoke to him last week and he seemed in good spirits. If he has a smartphone he might get online soon and type in a few words. Anyway, good he went through with it.,by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Are you sure it's AF and not PACs? I'm sure you know by now but I had a day 3 or 4mths out when I felt really rough for a few hours and it seems it was PACs from being dehydrated.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, apart from Curcumin what is something else that is anti-inflammatory that can be taken with it? I am getting stabbing pains in the groin area (not from ablation but from a recent hernia repair) and about the only think I can take to stop it right now is Aleve, which I know are bad but better than the stabbing pain..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
MSG was definitely a trigger for me. I could almost always bring it on (AF) by scoffing down fried jumbo shrimp, chicken teriyaki, hot and sour soup and a moo shi chicken from this one Chinese restaurant which must've loaded up everything with the stuff.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Longest I had was 27 hours but then I started using Flec as a PIP as soon as it came on and that always terminated it within 2-5 hours. Last bout I had was 7 months ago just before ablation so I couldn't take Flec - that terminated itself within a few hours..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
7 months after ablation my heart rate is 60-65 bpm a bit above where it was before. At first it was running 75-85. That changed over time but not in a linear progression.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I found they didn't prepare me for the possibility of PAC/PVCs after ablation with the result that a couple times I freaked out, thinking AF was back, but the EP (Conor Barrett) smiled and said no, was PAC/PVCs showing up on the telephoned-in EKG... I still get more PAC/PVCs than I remember having before the ablation, but then they may have kicked off a bout of AF whereas now they (so faby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Awesome! Last time I was at a doc's office on Harley St, was when my Mum took me to see a shrink at a cost of 10 guineas. Of course that was a long time ago. I bet you feel so relieved.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I cannot see all this fear about the FOLEY, if it even happens. Normally it is a non event!by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
If you're on a GA, which I think you will be on, then I expect they will want to a Foley or some other catheter because of the of the length of the procedure and the fluids they're pumping into you - at least that's how it was explained to me.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Are you going to be twilighting or was that just vernacular? I was on full general anesthetic.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Right, McHale, after anesthesia (along with the shaving) - at least that was the procedure at MGH. And really taking it out was nothing - just a sudden loss of pressure it felt like, no pain at all. It was just a problem for a while because of the slight damage they did getting it in. You will probably be luckier.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
