Maybe Flec and supplements aren't working? Have you ever had an ablation?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
What annoys me are cardiologists (like the first one I consulted with) who say to 'just live with it' (PAF) if it doesn't bother you too much'. Well it did I told him and started using Flec PIP. Then I found this board (thank you Hans) and determined to get ablated. Nearly a year later I'm OK, in NSR..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I never had one, but if I did I'd get ablated fast (ablated Oct 2012 after PAF and using Flec PIP)by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
PVI ablations are usually very successful. So far mine is (succesful). Nearly one year out, no AF, no Flec.. works for meby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, the problem with that article (and others she has written) is that she is telling people that having an ablation results in needing a pacemaker.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, no meds since ablation. Before that Flec+Diltiziam as a PIP only but Flec always converted it. I am terribly sorry about your husband's lung cancer. My father died of it at age 52 BUT that was back in England in 1970 when they had far fewer options.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
With in a month or two after you decide to cancel out of your ablation, just realize and accept that it will almost certainly fire up again before long Barb. Amen to that.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am almost hoping for more Afib episodes as the date gets closer as I feel myself chickening out since my heart has been so calm lately.... For how long has it been calm? I had 6 months of 'Calm" using Iodine but then it (AF) came back "HARD" Just do it IMO, etc etc your choiceby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
>In case you haven't figured me out yet, I'm a "second guesser'....questioning whether I'm doing the right thing..going back >and forth, etc. I hope I'm not driving you as crazy as I'm driving myself...argh. Yep Barb, JUST DO IT!!!!by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robert, sounds good, but if you get a rough day here or there don't get alarmed - it's probably just part of the healing process which is not necessarily linear..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
IMO nothing to worry about - I'm at 10 mths now and they quietened down - Potassium is good alwaysby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wise decision Robert. I'm sure all will be well and you'll be in NSR in no time.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So far, yes, but it's only been 10 months almost (Oct 19 2012) . EP says unlikely to return anytime soon - I'm "cautiously optimistic".by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
IMO all the more reason to get ablated.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree with Mailman, getting ablated beats the Flec and the PIP and the constant 'Uh oh, I'm in AF again'by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mag can do that.. a proverbial &!^!storm ..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a Cardio tell me if it (AF) didn't bother me, to just live with it. Shortly after that I decided to get an ablation, and I did with success so far. If that's a possibility for you with a workable chance of success, I'd do that. As Dr. Barrett told me when I had the initial consultation, it's the Gold Standard for ridding oneself of this condition.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Foleys are no fun for sure..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Christy, just routine yearly echo.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm not quite at a year since mine, with Conor Barrett at Mass General for standard PVI. But I'm almost at the 9 month mark. At first there were a few wobbly episodes - most I attribute dehydration - self induced or not :-) - none were AF according to the tapes. At a recent followup, the EP said they had limited historical records as to how long an ablation was good for but he felt Aby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr Barrett is a first class EP with a lot of experience. He and Dr Natale are pretty close and I think the fact that Dr Natale hired him as Director out of Mass General says a lot.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
They don't need you to be in AF before the procedure.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dennis. Same thing - day after ablation with Dr Barrett thought it was AF - same a few days later - turned out to be PAC/PVC or some combo thereof. As McHale says your heart has been assaulted - it is going to take a while to calm down - I still get PACs or skipped beats 9 mths out but then maybe I had the same things going on before. I took a PIP too - it is the blanking period after all.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
"I have been trying to consume around 3500 mg of potassium a day " Adam, a teaspoon and a quarter of Potassium Chloride will give you thisby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
A great point. I'm going to bring that up with the cardio when I see her next week for a routine echo.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dennis , I had the almost same thing going on the first week after ablation by Dr Barrett when he was at Mass General. No AF though said Dr Barrett.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seems like Dr Natale is going to have a long waiting list.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, we'll be thinking of you Thursday as well. Lots ablations going on and lots of NSR on its way.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
We'll be thinking of you, Bettyby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I read this on an EPs site -found it interesting as I still get these PACs or skipped beats but they don't (so far) cause AF as they did before. I don't think I ever saw it written verbatim as it is below Dr Walter Kerwin is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist who practices at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Universiby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
