Are you sure it was AF? 3 weeks after ablation I had what I thought was AF, so I recorded it on the phone monitor and took a Flec. When I saw the EP he said I had no AF showing at any time to dateby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Britain's NHS is full of stuff like that (I have family there). Anyway so far no bills for mine (keeping fingers crossed).. Between Medicare and Blue Cross Medex they seemed to have fattened the coffers of the Massachusetts General Hospital by about the same amount as quoted in this thread..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Tobherd I am a recent ablatee (if that's a word) and I went to an experienced EP, someone with 7 years of doing 3 days a week in the EP lab at a top hospital with a good EP lab reputation. I am sure the more experience the better, but as the regulars here agree, doing 1 or 2 a week for a few years doesn't inspire confidence in this kind of work. To me it's like getting a roby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My doc told me the same thing re Flec. 5 days before Ablation no more Flec. I was really worried about getting AF and having to live with it for up to 28 hrs (The max duration I have had AF without it self-resolving). But as it happened I had one bout of AF 4 or 5 days before the procedure that resolved in 2-3 hrs and nothing after that so I escaped the need for a TEE. I don't know abouby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a bad one the day after the ablation. I took some Flec and it went away. I guess it is nothing unusual so soon after the ablation.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I found a recent (Oct 2012) article on use of Colchicine to reduce inflammation and early reoccurrence after ablation. Perhaps alcohol is just acting as an inflammatory.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry, I couldn't find a way to make my addition to the original topic very visible.. I have the same question. If the PVI cut off the electricity why would alcohol be a trigger unless there is some other point generating the stimulus? I've read that it can be anything from a week to 3 months for the scars to heal or thicken enough (in the case of 3 mths). So, in my case, the EP saiby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
MikeJ, I have the same question. If the PVI cut off the electricity why would alcohol be a trigger unless there is some other point generating the stimulus? I just read this, as 1 mth later almost I am already fed up with Warfarin. I can't get the dose right and it varies between 1.4 and 2.9 INR. At one point early on it was 5 or 6. The Intermountain EPs conclude that AF patients with none or, at the most, one risk factor for ischemic stroke do not need to be anticoagulated with warfarin following a catheter ablation for AF provided the proby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hans, that is interesting. It only happened to me 'on demand' that one day right after ablation. Before that AF would mostly (but not always) be vagially-mediated and would certainly not stop if I stood up (or start if I lay down).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
They dispensed with the TEE for me because I had last had AF a week before the procedure and it was a brief 2 hour episode that resolved itself.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree about getting an ablation before it becomes persistent. Not that it always will, but this forum helped me to decide to go for a ablation (well I already had an appointment but was wavering a bit) and I did almost a month ago. Apart from the day after the procedure when I had what I liked to call 'on demand AF' (only when lying down, stopped when I stood up) I've been bliby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just curious if you have ruled out ablation, if the taurine doesn't help (it didn't with me).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I was using Flec+Diltiziam as a PIP, I used 300mg Flec and 40mg Dilt. It worked normally within a few hours but on a couple of occasions took 8-9 hrs. I am about 175 lbs. I never had any perceived ill effects from it. HTHby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had finger surgery under GA a few years ago when I was first diagnosed with PAF. I went into the procedure in SNR, they told me I was in AF during the surgery, or in and out of it, and I awoke in SNR. The anestheologist was apprised that I had PAF and it didn't seem to affect his using GA.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

I waited 3 weeks since ablation and started the exercize bike again just today. I can't tell any difference between what I was able to do (resistance, endurance) prior to ablation and what it is now. Exercize wasn't often the cause of the PAF before though.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

The esophagus is right next to the atrial wall- they measure the temperature so as not to hurt it while ablating (at least that is how it was explained to me).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was there 10 days ago with one of Moussa Mansour's colleagues. I also have had a positive experience at MGH except I was under GA and they damaged my uretha a bit with the Foley catheter so was in 36 hours from start to finish (all ok in the end except they still want me to get a cytoscopy just for yuks).
