I'd add:- He did my PVI ablation a dozen or so years ago at Mass Generalby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
No I'm doing without. It's tolerable..!by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Pompon. Actually when the EKG results posted to my patient record, the diagnosos was "AV block type 1 with occasional PVCs". I think this was primarily caused by switching from Gabapentin to Pregabalin for pain treatment of non diabetic peripheral neuropathy of the feet. I cut out use of both drugs to see if the arrythmia stopped or was less frequent. It appears to be mostlyby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, think PVCs are happening 'quite' frequently - happened to be a couple showing on the EKG when I wasn't particularly feeling anything. I'd guess I am sometimes in NSR.. as you say Holter will show this. Yuxi, not currently but I usually take some R-ALA, Beta Sisterol, a multi, Vit-C and some B-complex. No fish oil. Carey, yes, I understand that being not per seby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, Carey and Afibbers community I've felt some arrythmia for a few weeks so arranged for an EKG with my cardiologist here in Vero Beach, FL. The EKG showed some PVCs according to the physician's assistant who conducted the EKG. I'm due to get an echocardiogram and Holter harness attached next week. The EP who performed the ablation back in 2012 was Dr Barrett at Massby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My 2c, once everything settled down, maybe 6 mths after ablation, HR was unaffected ie same as beforeby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think my EP back in 2012, Conor Barret, worked with Dr Natale at Cleveland Clinic. He's now at Mass General Conor Barrett Clinical Director, Cardiac Arrhythmia Service @ MGH Heart Center Touch wood next October it'll be 10 years in NSR. Nice to see your name there Shannon, GeorgeN and other familiar contributors..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr Conor Barrett did my ablation about 7 or so years agoby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
What kind of rep does this insurance company have?by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
zb3, I'd echo that you need to get to a good EP. The cardiologist I had told me to 'live with it' - that was about 8 or so years ago . I got an ablation and for me at any rate it has been successful ever since. Not to say it will always be so but the EP who did the ablation (Conor Barrett at Mass General) seemed to think there was a good chance it would last a long time. AF sucksby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Shannon. Don't log in much these days. After all these years since ablation, heart running great in NSR. I remember what a gift this forum was at the time (as it still is).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, yes it's been a while. Still in NSR thankfully. I can't imagine how many people you've helped with your sage advice since I was last here.. a lot I am sure I wonder if Mandrola just likes the publicity. How is McHale - How ARE you McHale? (just watched the '86 Celtics footage again)by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dr. John Mandrola "at it again"by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi I had an ablation 3 years ago - been in NSR since IMO go for it but only with someone very experienced AFHound99by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Time flies, McHale - not so far back as when the Celtics were hot but long enough. I'm coming up for 3 years since the MGH Dr Barrett ablation myself with same NSR results.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Is there any evidence of fish oil leading to PACs? As Shannon rightfully told me, PACs tend to come in clumps at least post-ablation (hope I didn't misread you there, Shannon - at least that appears to be true in my case). I am not sure if this was just a coincidence but when I stopped taking a daily 2g fish oil tablet containing 800mg EPA and 400mg DHA, my PAC 'clump' frequencyby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'd agree. Flec caused me no issues when I took it as a PIP.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
> Before flec, I was getting afib 10-12 times a year, 8-10 hours average. Doesn't seem a lot to me. I started Flec PIP only after getting AF 2-3 times a week then got fed up and had an ablation 2.5 years ago No AF sinceby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I can't say I care much for his blogby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
You still worried about recurrent AF, Kevin? Did you sense anything? Or do this as a security measure....by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
"the iodine protocol being the major one, as it is known to have cured afib. " Not for me -worth trying thoughby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes thanks Jim, worked out real well.. he only (vaguely) remembers me from my English accent..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ha! Dr Barrett is always looking at his watch but nonetheless is a very experienced EP. I know what you mean though. When he was at Mass General he answered all my questions over about a half hour period.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree that is a good article. Maybe I'm biased, having undergone an ablation after using a PIP approach for a while, but it seems the success rates quoted are updated compared to many articles I've seen that are based on historically older stats.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Alcohol not a trigger for me either and I can't give up Pinot Noir (don't care for Bordeaux). My EP said the main thing to avoid is binge drinking.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Too bad you had to give up cheese! Camembert with a good Bourgogne is a nice combo (in moderation of course :-))by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
As far as AF is concerned and touch wood but ablation is the best thing I did. So far 2 years out it has worked. This was a standard PVI.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
"Sabine Ernst is a very well meaning and caring physician and a smart lady and I would have no qualms about recommending her for a straight forward paroxysmal ablation cas" She's scary IMO but then so is the NHSby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
