Great news. Smackman found the right way to go.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting - I've been using NAC for years -along with Acetyl-L-Carnitine and R-ALA although the ACL and RALA is more for Peripheral Neuropathy. !8 months out from ablation I am mostly free of PACs - but they did show up for at least a year after the procedure. I took Potassium to quieten them then.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I took the time to go through some of the pictures in that link, but if they want to sell the book I think they need to do a better presentation.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was PIP Flec age 65 with no Atrial enlargement when I had ablation 18 mths ago. I was getting AF 2-3 times a week in the end. Nothing sinceby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks a lot Hans. This site helped a lot and will continue to do so..by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I used Lugols, still do - but it failed to stop my AF. I thought it had for a while as I went 6 months without any discernible AF, but it came back in spades. I still think it's important to take Iodine as a supplement, but from what I understand one has to be careful that TSH levels aren't adversely affected.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Not sure if this is behind paywall But even when all traces of A-fib are eliminated, Dr. Ruff said, continued treatment with an anticoagulant is needed to guard against stroke. “Once a person has had A-fib, there is an increased risk of stroke even if their heart is in normal rhythm,” he said.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Chrisdodt I'm with you with this, at least for AF. I'm using supplements like R-ALA and so on, but for Peripheral Neuropathy in the hopes of.. Barrett's ablation Oct 2012 seems to be holding up so far and I continue with my old lifestyleby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great you're doing well McHale. Most people seem to react the same way. My own healing period extended to perhaps 9 months out.. Up to then I'd get PACs now and again, sometimes something else (and weirder in the early days).by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Take some Potassium. V8 juice has a lot, bananas . It helps PACsby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Seems to be common. I had quite a few episodes up to 8 months after ablation.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news. Mine was over a year ago now at MGH which doesn't have the hotel lobby ambiance but the same Foley experience you had.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Kittymama, what kind of AF are you experiencing? e.g number of episodes and duration. Do you use any medication to stop the AF (like Flec). When you're 65 Medicare will pay. Maybe that is far too long to wait. What about moving to a different state? Just throwing out some (probably zany) ideasby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

George, yeah, I think you're right. As I said, I was ok with the Flec+Dilt as a PIP. It always worked and I didn't worry too much about any silent AF occurring even though Dr Barrett cautioned it could be there. I just got fed up with the "waiting for it to come on" syndrome.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Oh sorry, Ron, thought your first post said ". It took me thirty years and a lot of trial and error" Guess you could've been clearer about that, but best to let it rest here, getting silly.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I reckon I was able to tell too if I was in AF but Dr Barrett told me they see a bunch of people who feel they can tell, but who are often slipping in and out of AF (when you're asleep can count) . Anyway, if I had been able to keep AF within bounds using supplements I would have. What's weird about Ron's account (to me) was that it seemed it took him 30 years to get AF under contby afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM

" It will be difficult for me to schedule visits to a clinic 9 hours away"? Not minimizing this but you still need a great ablationist if you are persistent AF. IMO one doesn't go to a local guy without the necessary deep experience if you value your health. It's that simple.by afhound99 - AFIBBERS FORUM
