Find a good EP ASAP.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m in Oz and I can get Eliquis for $6.80 for 60 tabs as I’m on a pension. Private script around $90, and PBS $41by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan, I have Osteoporosis (along with severe Osteoarthritis) and I was on Prolia injections for some years before I began experiencing pain in my upper thighs. Dr immediately stopped the injections as the risk of fracture of the Femur was apparently high ( apparently a side effect of the drug, which no one told me about prior to starting ) My bone density had improved somewhat so I did stop. Yes and yes. It's so good to see what I experienced before every AF episode for decades wasn't in my head, that same build-up of tension inside my body, and once the episode was over it was a very lovely relaxing feeling. Prior to an episode kicking in it almost felt like I couldn't breathe properly and my lungs were too full. Not one medical person I saw over those years woby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
How did I choose my EP? After decades of poor advice, I could have jumped at the chance to grab anyone that could offer me hope. Did I...no! I booked appointments with many EPs and weighed up their responses to my questions. Some were interested others were indifferent. One told me they really don't do my gender as physically females are difficult to ablate. Another said I wasby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think we all look for the natural way out of this condition, not wanting to go ahead with procedures that in the main are very successful. I waited for decades, a long story that I won't repeat. Two ablations last 18 months have changed my perception of how I managed this over the years. Yes, sometimes I thought it was better UNTIL it reared its ugly head again and again and again.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I always pee a lot during AF And flutter. Probably every 10 minutes. But never diarrhoea.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, yes and yes. Especially if something makes me really nauseous. Like finding half a cockroach in my take away roll…the other half I’d digested. And I’m a vegatarian to boot. Ugh, almost threw up thinking about it.😜by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Muntz Have you heard of Prolia. I was on that for some years. Am considering going back as Osteoporosis has returned. I chose it because it didn’t seem to have quite the reputation for causing arrhythmia’s as did some of the others.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Try loud gargling, humming and singing. I do it around 4 to 5 times a day.😉🤭 Recommended to increase vagal tone.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Kwilk, my burden over a number of decades, included, fainting, chest pain, arm pain, nausea, shortness of breath, heart rates over 200 etc etc. I stopped going anywhere because of the fear I may have an episode or end up in an ambulance or stuck in hospital. Bad advice initially meant I just put up with it. I wish I knew back then what I now know. Thank goodness I found this site. Commonby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
As per Carey, you ought to be seeing your EP for all things related to your Ablation and to your Arrhythmias. Cardiologists usually are not experienced in electrical problems with the heart, rather they handle the plumbing. My Cardiologist, (a Professor and very experienced) referred me to my EP who handles everything and anything that relates to my Arrhythmia.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
If there are no contraindications for you to take an anticoagulant it may be in your best interests to do so, especially if you are weighing up the possibility of a stroke. However, that is something only your EP can advise you with. And finding a well-qualified EP is paramount in treating the condition. Also, I believe age has no bearing on stroke if you have an arrhythmia. Studies that goby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’d hate to say how many CTs and other scans I’ve had. Suffice to say I believe I glow in the dark . But I’m still alive and kicking.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken, Because I was having 3 to 4 episodes per week each lasting up to 12 hours, of AF , my Cardiologist wanted to see the readings for himself, probably because I wasn’t in AF when I saw him. After receiving the nightly reports I was referred to my EP for ablation.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Reading the research most had many other diseases or conditions and the number of people in the initial selection was only 78 with a final number of participants of just 53.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, I’ve had one for 3 years. Medtronic. An implantable loop recorder continuously records information about your electrical activity, similar to an ECG. However, an implantable loop recorder can record heart rhythm for up to 3 years. It is continuously looping its memory and has automatic triggers to store recordings. I have a phone type box on my bedside table that sends back the info onby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wouldn’t go over 5mg x 2 per day with Eliquis. Unless supervised by your EP or Cardiologist. The maximum dose I was offered was 10mg x2 short term for DVT AND PE. I’m on 2.5 x2 per day and don’t want to go any higher. I’m concerned about prompting a bleed, being a senior citizen Others here might have a different viewpoint.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I developed a very large haematoma after my first ablation, and like Carey a large bruise, however, mine stretched from my groin to my calf. I did do some long walks around a few days after ablation and also rode my bike. EP was most unhappy with me. The second ablation, again a haematoma and bruise altho not quite as large as the first one. This time I did everything right( but don't thiby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

Great news Tom and a very Happy Anniversary. I remember reading your posts back when it was all seemingly going haywire for you, and thinking how much this condition gets into our psyche and tends to rule our lives. We are fortunate there are some excellent practitioners out there. I too am feeling hopeful, although I’m just a month out from a couple of CVS for 11 days and 9 days of flutteby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have you been in AFIB since 2015? Surely if yes, your Cardiologist should have referred you to an EP? There are consequences of staying in AF for long periods if the rate or rhythm control isn't adequate. I tried every drug and every supplement over my very long journey (25+ years) with this condition. In and out of hospitals, then deciding to manage it at home, but not very successfullyby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations.Im 3 weeks without AF…some PVCs and still getting sudden spikes up to 170. Fingers crossed I’ll be posting same as you in a year or two.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

I strongly agree with Carey’s comments. I believe my AF started very early in life, as I suffered racing heart and brief blackouts occasionally as a teen, then a few in my twenties and more in my thirties and forties. I eventually did some research and believed I had found the answer. AF. My GP at the time believed I was suffering panic attacks and refused to refer me to a Cardiologist until I’by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
How true Carey Unfortunately I’m very aware of my ‘monkey’ going nuts as my chest and back feel like I have a bongo in there and it can shake the bed or chair. It can be quite disconcerting. But knowing that it’s contained mostly is comforting. I do have bouts of AF, but brief. I have had long bouts of flutter, up to 11 days. (finally decided on a second ablation )by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have a question. I’m scheduled for a second ablation in July. I have cancelled twice, due to my nervousness and some other medical issues. I suffered for decades with hundreds of episodes of AF and possibly Sinus issues. Original Cardiologist totally unhelpful. Forward 25 plus years, new Cardiologist and new EP. My EP is excellent and extremely experienced and the centre has unparalleled saby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
