Who knows...5 mins ago just sitting outside in the sunshine, ate a peppermint and went into rapid AF. HR currently 140+. Totally has spoilt my day's plans again! In over 20 years I've just about given up on my triggers, altho eating is definitely one of them, so is walking, sitting, sneezing, lying on my left or right side, laughing, excitement etc etc.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey Thanks for responding. My side effects include dizziness, joint pain, gastrointestinal discomfort. I also bleed quite freely from tiny cuts. Because I had a PE 3 years ago whilst taking Eliquis, I’m not sure if that’s a good reason to up the dose or stay as I am on the smaller dose. Of course I’d like to avoid a stroke at any price... however I also want to avoid a major bleed.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve recently had my medication changed to Verapamil (Cordilox 240 SR) and increased Apaxiban to 5mg x2 daily because of long And increased episodes of AF/Flutter sometimes requiring ambulance and hospital. Obviously hospital is last place I want to be right now due to COVID 19. We are currently in stage 4 lockdown where I live in Australia. Because of my age, late 70s, and a really nastby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
There are so many different approaches to AFIB it just gets mind boggling. After struggling with it for 20 plus years and trying so many different approaches I've run out of ideas. Diet, Supplements, Yoga, Massage, Meditation, Dry Needling, Acupuncture, no exercise, some exercise et etc. all to no avail. I'm Vegetarian and live a very healthy lifestyle. Thanks Carey, at 79 years old, and a close on 20 year history of paroxysmal AF which has always been difficult and debilitating, (occurring now 6-7 times a month,)I’m considering an ablation. Just hoping I’m doing the right thing.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, with the greatest respect for your knowledge and helpful comments over the years , I’m also interested in your (Carey’s ) comment about ablation. Has something occurred that has changed the way you feel about the procedure?by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Smackman, like you I utterly despise being in AF. Hours of incredibly fast HR, nausea, chest pain, dizziness, passing out. I have been known to shreik out a very loud curse when I get an event and my neighbour once commented that she was worried about me . NSR is such a blessing and I never take it for granted.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
What a great achievement Jackie and a shining example for those newly afflicted and going through the anxieties that the diagnosis brings. I'm coming onto 20 years so not far behind you (in age as well ) I've not had an ablation which I regret, due to my former cardiologist continually advising me it wasn't going to help, but I am considering one this year as both my new Cardby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Never bothered me that much...had an issue...bit of nausea now and then and fatigue, not enough to make stop.If we go looking for side effects we can bring them on. I'm not saying you dont get them, but better than a devasting stroke or the grim reaper!by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
What's wrong with a bit of candy now and then... taking a breath of air can be more dangerous.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Amazing Jackie...I’m glad it all went as it should. It can be a most painful condition. I had my done 20 odd years ago. Keep safe and well.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you to all who replied. Yes Susan, I was unhappy going to the ED, but I had a mask and was in a reasonably protected area, however at my age and with my conditions I really don't want to go to hospital. I usually ride out my AF at home until it gets so bad that I just have to go to the Docs. I'm not usually someone who panics, I think its just a sign of the times. It isby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for responding. Because I was in AF and my BP was high the paramedics insisted I go to hospital. I came home same night. The Drs didn't really seemed concerned about my BP because it slowly came back to normal, but it does concern me, I asked the Drs a couple of times, "what do I do if my BP gets that high and he said just relax and wait for it to come down, it's probabby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Any input greatly appreciated. Recently my AF burden has begun to increase and I find I'm not coping as well with it. A couple of concerns I have are sudden runs of a very fast rate...lasting around 60 seconds to 2 minutes, accompanied by nausea and dizziness and anxiety. I did have one that went for about 5 minutes...not AF as I know it (I'm very sensitive to my episodes and knowby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Clinical trials are underway around the world examining their potential to treat COVID-19. However, these medicines pose well-known serious risks to patients including cardiac toxicity (potentially leading to sudden heart attacks), irreversible eye damage and severe depletion of blood sugar (potentially leading to coma). I forget sometimes Carey that everyone is not as old as I am, however it was comforting to know tha the 2.5 mg x2 daily I take is ok. I am reasonably fit and healthy but do have Neurological and other illnesses besides paroxysmal AF (which is quite severe at times ) I was in a bind about whether I should be taking a larger dose of Eliquis. I feel a bit more at ease now.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks Liz I have been suffering quite severe dizziness and nausea for some time now, so maybe it's all part of that. I see my neurologist in a few weeks so will run it all by him again. What really frustrates me is that my GP and Er Dr suggested I may be depressed or anxious and wrote scripts for antidepressants which I declined. I said to the Cardio in ER (not my regular guy) &by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi, I have recently experienced a similar event, but mine was slightly different . I get AF 5-6 times a month, HR up to 180, 6-12 hours. I’ve recently been put back on Isoptin and low dose Flecainide and Eliquis. I was standing in a queue in the supermarket when I felt a numbness run down the side of my head and face, I felt nauseated and shaken and could only stagger to a seat to sit dowby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Definitely gut related for me, I find sometimes I have days where I crave more food than normal, and especially sugar. I can almost guarantee I will get an episode of AF. I am normally a very health eater, vegetarian, and well nourished. I’m not sure if the it’s the imminent AF episode that causes the craving or the other way around. Episodes are hard work, lasting long hours with very high HRby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ll give it a shot Susan. Thanks 🤗by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to all for responding. After probably nearly 20 years with this condition you would think I’d be immune to panic. Just now and then it catches me out, especially when the Dr is trying to show me he’s not concerned. 🤗🤗by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi everyone, I would welcome any advice to calm my nerves with my latest episode of AF I am 78 years old and get AF around 4-5 times a month for last 15 years 4-12 hours.. Very high HR. Self convert usually. 2 weeks ago went into rapid AF while shopping and almost passed out, ambulance called and taken to hospital.
