You need a new Cardiologist and an EP. I’m gobsmacked that with all of the information and research available a Cardiologist is so uninterested in your care he says “live with it” I’d be doing as Carey suggests and finding yourself a couple of top notch people who will give you the care you are entitled to. I’m speaking from experience, believe me , after having listened to very poor advicby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
How often do you get episodes. How high is you HR during an episode and how long do they last? Is your Dr an EP? Are you on an anticoagulant ?by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Unfortunately my AF is a big deal for me. After poor advice decades ago, I lived with very symptomatic AF for a long time. Disrupted my work, my social life and my family life. To have it come back would be awful, to put it mildly. My mother died instantly from a stroke attributed to arrhythmia. My father had issues as well. My other conditions I deal with, my heart is another matter. My ablby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've read all the books. Done all the research. My triggers really don't exist. I've blamed coffee, alcohol, eating too fast, sleeping on my left side or my right side, not enough sleep, too much sleep, running too hard, lifting heavy weights, being tired, hungry thirsty, too much sugar, too much salt, etc etc. All of them have 'triggered' my AF at some time or othby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
No, you don’t need to subscribe to a monthly service. I printed off copies of my ECG when AF was particularly bothersome or HR was over what I considered a reasonable limit. (150-200+) Found it invaluable when I was stressing about an episode. Just didn’t want to go to ER unless was absolutely necessary. I good tool if you need it.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM

I take 2 Grams Omega3…does anyone else take it as well as anticoagulants?by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes, I’ve had one, Medtronic, for 3 years, just about at the end of its life. It’s is a valuable tool for your Cardologist and/or EP to see what’s going on with your heart.😌 Not sure why you pay to have it monitored. But I’m in Oz so may be different.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for laying it out Carey. Gosh…CHADS Vasc score that high, I was not seeing the obvious. I guess I need to think about this some more. I am a very visually orientated person and the thought of maybe losing my sight…well, scares the heck out of me. I am reasonably fit, not overweight, and vegetarian. I am on half dose Eliquis due to my age and weight, 2.5mgx2. I wondered if I coulby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, , CHADS Vasc score is 3 (age over 75 and female) although I did have an unprovoked PE 3 years ago. Thanks George, I will follow up. Poppino, I take on board what you have said. It’s difficult to make a decision one way or the other.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Any input very welcome. I’m 6 months post ablation. I’m still getting the odd run of AF. Had around 15 events of AF and Tachy since ablation end March, mostly short lived. A couple of very highTachy /Af combined in May Up to 200+ heart rate. Two AF in July, one 12 hours and one around five hours , heart rate not as high as they used to be, now around 130-140. One AF in early August around 3 hoby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Along with omega-3 fatty acids, omega-6 fatty acids play a crucial role in brain function, and normal growth and development. ElectroBlu I’m m going OK. HR is jumping around a bit. Highest 207 lowest 47. I’m hopeful. But I figure it’s early days, so trying not to read anything into it. Hope yours is on track.by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
No hum...but 3 weeks post ablation body trembles inside as if I'm in AF but I'm not? Particularly if I'm doing strenuous exercise and/or sitting quietly. Does the top of the heart still fire up even tho it's been ablated?by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie Strangely enough, I've had an interesting experience with sleeping posture as well. I was a back sleeper for most of my life until AF 20 plus years ago, and so for many years I slept on my right side as I read it was better for my heart. And initially, it was. Then I found increasingly that my heart kicked into AF during the night so I changed back to the left side. It was a 50/50by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi David I live in Australia. I do have a Kardia device and it’s been very helpful I must admit. I have a big thick folder with printouts of most of the events from the last two years. I’ve suffered from AF for over 20 years. The advice I was given going back to those times was pretty pathetic. The first thing I was offered was an AV node ablation which I emphatically declined. Hi Vanlith To be honest, I was really nervous and anxious. I had asked not to be sedated before the procedure. I wanted to be alert going into the lab and before the General Anesthetic. It was amazing how fast everything went once I was in there, a lot of people introducing themselves, putting things on me, and chatting at me, I really didn't have time to think. I'm still dizzyby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've had the AF ablation procedure, home 2 weeks. Went OK. I had a bleed during the first night. Woke up from a sound sleep to find the bed wet with blood. Felt a bit ill after and a bit freaked out. What if I hadn't woken up, and all those things that worry us, just wanted to get home. Went home a couple of days later, started walking, not too excessive. Avoided the gym. If you live in Australia they just write you a script for whatever...no hopital monitoring. I've had a few scares, one from a Dr who told me while I was it ER with a nasty episode " Flecainide...you take Flecainide... stop that it will kill you" leaving me puzzled as to who I should have a serious conversation with...my regular Cardio (who I no longer see) or this new one in the ERby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Pom-Pom . I normally get very good readings from my Kardia. And I print them off, so have quite a big file of them ? When my HR showed 204...I stopped recording.😏by JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
I think that over the long hours I had the latest episode, because my heart was going from what seemed to be a flutter to very slow, then to AF in short spurts, the Kardia was calling it unclassified. The resulting readings were very poor. Very dizzy and nauseous throughout. Was certainly a bit unnerving. It was late at night and I eventually just gave up went to bed and fell asleep. Hi Recently ( last 2 months) my AF episodes have changed. Normally I start an episode suddenly, HR rockets up and is chaotic and stays that way until episode terminates. Usually between 4-12 hours. ( PA AF for at least 20 years) Lately I start with the usual high rate, then it dips back to SR (70 BPM) then up again, sometimes very chaotic, then other times just a flat out fast run, in rhythby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you to everyone who responded. I really am very symptomatic with my episodes, and after 20 odd years since an actual diagnosis and probably a life time of AF ( I used to pass out in my youth after a very fast thumping in my chest' but was told it was 'nerves' and given medication, which obviously never worked... the good old days) Since I've had the Kardia device, arounby JoyWin - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Everyone Looking for some wise words. At long last and after a lifetime of AF and the fear and disruption it causes to ones life, I have opted to have an ablation. The "know it alls" on this site are people who suffer(ered) with AF and who take time out to offer good common sense ideas about what worked for them and what didn't. If you don't want people to respond to a question don't ask. This forum has killed my anxiety time and time again when I'm alone and in the middle of a nasty episode.
