I add Dead Sea Salts to my hot tub. The mg in it is Magnesium Chloride. It also contains potassium. I change the water quarterly and add it in at that time, and occasionally add more if I need to add water due to splash out.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM

Louise, Are you taking any BBs? They are known to cause secondary Raynaud's which causes cold extremities and worse.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM

Personally, I would take longer than two weeks to taper off. Take it in smaller increments with longer between dose changes. Unless there is a reason to do this quickly, why shock your system in any way?by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM

Peggy, I have used Ativan to convert. I have posted this before, but it's been awhile since I have posted regularly, here. You are not the only one.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Louise, have you ever had an irregular heartbeat documented? I ask because there are many different kinds. The first step is finding out exactly what you are dealing with. Then, when you know, you can make informed decisions that aren't based on guesses.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Peggy and Jackie, I rarely have hiccups. I honestly can't remember the last time. I'm at bowel tolerance at 800 mg a day. I've been there for a couple years. No pushing possible at this time. No leg cramps. I was traveling, so different water, food, beds, etc... may have been a contributor. I've not been sensitive to positional triggering, and my gut'sby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Weird thing, I converted, and my hiccups stopped at the same time..by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I woke up this morning in AF, I've been fortunate to have only one or two episodes a year at only a couple of hours (compared to 4 years ago when it was 2-3 a week at 18 hours or so) The hiccups are a new thing, Highly annoying all day long. Has anyone else noticed a correlation?by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought that the higher risk is when someone is going in and out of AF-NSR-AF-NSR and so on. In other words paroxysmal AF with frequent episodes. Everything I've understood has said the greatest danger is the moment of conversion dislodging a clot due to the restored ejection fraction (correct term?), which would mean that if you're in permanent AF, that clot will just sit thby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Diane, There's nothing "wrong" with Flec. I was merely wondering why that gets prescribed on what seems to be a much wider basis than Rythmol. I know this is true among the wider AF community as well, because every time I refill my prescription, the pharmacy has to order it. They don't stock it because they don't dispense much of it.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I recommend taking the SR version of it for daily use. It's much more effective than the short-acting version (at least for me, it is). The brand name is horrendously expensive, but it comes in generic, now. I haven't noticed any difference in efficacy. I've often wondered why more here don't use it instead of flec.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron, something else occurred to me. My father had bouts of bradycardia, and, as far as I can remember, his only symptom was cold hands and feet. Eventually, they captured it on an EKG. They installed a pacemaker, and he never had any more problems after that.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ron, Are you taking any beta-blockers? They're notorious for causing cold extremities and even causing secondary Raynaud's.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, (or other dental professional on this site), I haven't used commercial toothpaste for many years (I stopped because of SLS and non-fluoride toothpaste is increasingly hard to find). I use baking soda with good results ( NO plaque or tartar, NO gum disease). I'm sure part of that is genetics, but: DE is an ingredient in many toothpastes. Is it something I should useby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM

I guess I should also add this disclaimer : I've not had an ablation, so I can't speak to the aftermath of that , and how it may be different when it comes to getting off the meds without upsetting the apple cart. Logic says that slower, smaller steps would still be the way to go.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Marg, this is just my opinion, but unless there is some sort of urgency (beyond just wanting it over with), taking more time will not hurt, and certainly will help avoiding any "shock" to the system. Taking it more slowly, in smaller steps, may also make it easier to judge exactly how far you can go without going too far (if that made sense). It will also help in discovering when duby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, Marg, I do believe that it was me. That is one of the times I have explained it, but the idea isn't mine (I'm not that clever). There are more of my posts where I explain it, but that was the first one I came across on a search of my posts. I hope that was helpful.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rcece, I echo the advice to drink a lot. It will help keep you from becoming dehydrated, and will keep you from sitting too long. Ha Ha! But true. Ativan is also a good pill to have in your arsenal. It has kept me from going into AF, as well as shortened my episodes. AFAIC, Every cardio/ep should offer this, but , unfortunately, it's off-label, and most don't even know how effectby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have never had a rash such as you describe, but I wonder at your word "scoop." What does that mean? Is that a teaspoon? A tablespoon? It makes me think of "Two Scoops of Raisins," It could be 80 or 800 raisins.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
