JIll, It's a very hard road to take when determining if a particular med is making things better or worse. Not only that, but is it the med, or the dosage, the combo of meds, or the time on the med? Or some other undetermined factor? I wish I had the answer for you! Heck, I wish I had the absolute answer for myself.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jill, Lou brings up a very good point about a Beta Blocker. I take a very small dose of Atenolol, for marginally high BP (12.5 mg 2x day) with the Rythmol SR. I am Vagal, but this small dose and the Rythmol SR seem to be a good combo. So much so that about six months ago I quit taking the morning dose of Rythmol (all my episodes are late-night ones). I attribute most of the success witby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jill, I've been gone all weekend, so I couldn't answer your questions to me, but most of them have been covered by now. Hans is absolutely correct that Rythmol SR (or Propafenone ER) is not enough of a "burst" into your system to work as a PIP. Once you convert, It WILL be a better option to KEEP you in NSR than the regular (short acting). If you are taking a tabletby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jill, you asked for experiences of those who have been on Propafenone. There aren't too many of us here, compared to flec users, so here's mine. When I was first diagnosed, my cardio put me on the short-acting version of it twice a day, and I had two "side-effects". It caused an altered taste when I drank water. Nothing else was affected. It also never seemed to last thby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I never heard of it before about a week ago. It was put in the same category as nattokinase, but was considered better(more effective). Any opinions? Even better, any studies? Thanks,by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
christy, You might want to try it just spooned into COLD water rather than a tea made with what I'm assuming is hot water. Gulp it down, don't sip. Believe it or not, this bypasses your tastebuds. Not everyone can tolerate it, but there are a few ways to lessen the potential "pain" associated with chile consumption. Don't take it with any oils. It is solubleby lisa s - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
"Have been hearing and seeing of folks taken into hospital in aFib who converted to NSR with Magnesium uptake alone." ME! ME! ME! Fortunately, my cardio prescribed Mag-Ox (Navy formulary--free). He doesn't understand a lot, but understood this much. I have since learned more than he, and ( I hope), am finally (?) getting close to repletion. This is not due to Mag-by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Allen, Why are you taking two AADs concurrently? I don't ever recall anyone posting here mention using more than one at a time. Anybody, is this common?by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Robin, I don't know if you will see this on the third page, but yes, there is a connection with arrhythmias and lyme. It it quite common in my area (So. MD), and my doc didn't even bat an eye when I requested a test for lyme, and suggested a connection.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, George I was actually very surprised that no one else has ever mentioned using them. I can't be the only hot tub owner who posts here. Using the salts does make keeping the water in range with less chemical interference a lot easier, so for me, it's a win-win situation. Oh, and here is the link:by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've never used magnesium oil, but I use Dead Sea Salts, which contains plenty of mag chloride, in my hot tub. In all but the hottest months, I use it approx. 5 times a week. As far as I'm concerned, any, and pretty much all ways you can get magnesium into yourself is a good thing.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gill, Thanks for clearing that up. The 48 hr window is pretty standard. I thought you meant "drop everything the minute an episode starts and go to the ER" kind of "immediate" .by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gill, just curious, but why does your doc want you to immediately go to the ER if you get an episode of AF?by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've never noticed any regularity to my episodes(they've gone from 2-3x a week to 6 months and more between, and from 18+hrs duration to a couple hours only), but even now, I can feel something building. I don't know what it is, but it's there. Sometimes I feel it building and I get a few warning bobbles and fortunately it doesn't get full-blown, but it's there.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Larry, Many juicers remove all the pulp, but it is still there to be cleaned out of the machine. Just take some and put it in the resulting juice. Easy Peasy! In some machines, there are large pieces, but it a lot of them it is "pulp". Even In the machines that leave large pieces, there is a fair amount of small stuff. What is left over is great for compost.by lisa s - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Tom, I have had this problem in the past as well. One thing that really helps me is to make sure my feet aren't dangling but on the floor. If they are dangling, your entire body is tense which will increase your BP. Another thing is to learn some relaxation techniques such as slow diaphragmatic breathing. This type of breathing releases nitric oxide into the blood stream which isby lisa s - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jan, The one thing that really jumped out at me is your use of digoxin. This is considered one of the worst drugs for management of AF. There are many posts here that contain info about it. If you use the search function with all forums and all dates, there are over 900 hits. I will give you a couple to get you started, so you can become more informed about what many call "The Drby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
From what I understand, a lot of firefly behavior is pheromone driven. Maybe there's something to that in human interaction, as well. You make a good case for it.by lisa s - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
And for those interested in the benefits of Lycopene, cooked tomato products contain many many times more per unit than fresh tomatoes. However, I still question the use of LSV-8 for potassium purposes, except for convenience when other sources of K are unavailable. Cooking almost anything will release free glutamates. Unless you eat only raw, it is virtually unavoidable.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
I can feel my atria vibrate outside of my ribcage in my breast. Sometimes, it also visible. I can see the goldfish flopping around just under the skin. So much so, that I can tell which atrium is acting up. Fortunately, I don't get short of breath. That would suck. Any tiredness, exhaustion is usually from the aftermath of the anxiety. I guess I wasn't clear enough. The Dr. Best contain 100 mg each tablet. The Bluebonnet contain 200 mg each. It occasionally comes up here when a poster doesn't read the label carefully enough to see that it does indeed contain two pills in a serving, not just one, and they were ingesting only half what they thought. If the manufacturers of supplements would more clearly label whby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
This hasn't been an issue since the forum changeover, but now it is again. Before, we just decided amongst ourselves what we would be called. I think we did a good job of it. The Bioperine (black pepper) is indeed a digestive aid, which in this case is entirely unnecessary. It is added to other forms of mag to aid in absorption, but when chelated, Albion process is used, the mag is already in its most available form. The addition of bioperine is now a marketing aid. ;-P You might want to try a different brand such as Bluebonnet and see if it helps. Just keep iby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Netty Pots are our friends. Saline solutions are absolutely necessary. If you use it without salt, you will not like it at all. Your nasal passages need the salt in order to not have a burning, choking sensation. Trust me, I tried it, but only once and it was horrible. I don't think that you are going to absorb much sodium in a 10-20 second flush.by lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Montos, in addition to your heart itself possibly being sore due to the intense workout it had during AF, another explanation may be general muscle soreness. I know that when I have an episode that is particularly intense, I tense up. Anxiety and all. If you are tensing your muscles for hours on end (you may not even realize you are doing this), the result after the episode is over and yoby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
neginf, Many of us use a beta blocker to help keep our HR down during an episode. A beta blocker won't necessarily convert you, but can help in many ways. It can make your heart beats easier to tolerate (without you jumping out of your skin). It can help keep your heart from being damaged from the sustained high HR. It can actually help some AADs, such as Flecainide work better in oby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Randy, It could be a blood sugar issue (or not), I could be that you are a little low in mg (or not). From what you posted, alcohol itself, is not a trigger (otherwise, every time you drink, you would be in AF). However, alcohol consumption could be leading to other (sub) issues. It could be as simple as an anxiety issue, that you are keeping at bay by drinking (or not). That might explby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
Paul, Sorry to hear this, but keep in mind that it may or may not be the alcohol. Usually when large amounts get consumed other factors play in. Nancy, I've been using Rythmol. Not many here seem to be using it compared to Flec. I haven't had any side effects from it except altered taste. This only happened while drinking water. However the short-acting version didn't seem to last the whole 12 hours. Some take it 3x day which seems to be the way to go on the short version. I would recommend Rythmol SR, and sincby lisa s - AFIBBERS FORUM
