Donated--thanks to everyone and particularly to Shannon and Carey for all that you do for us all. This is such an important, even sometimes lifesaving resource, what would we do without it? You have checked as to whether they will also be prepared to do parts of the ablation with RF as needed as PFA is only pulmonary veins? QuoteMel-O Thanks, Daisy, it was reassuring to read your message. My GP and my cardiologist recommend this EP doctor highly, he is very experienced, and we seemed to vibe together OK. Yikes! Sorry that you have to wait so long to see an EP. Did they explain to you that Metoprolol is not an antiarrythmic so won’t prevent Afib only lower the heart rate when you do go into Afib? It has been around for 20 years though it has usually been used on high risk patients. Here is a report on the MitraClip from Cedars Sinai, the hospital you will be treated at. Yes, getting your mitral valve fixed is a priority and I hope that plus the Maze will prevent further Afib. QuoteDini Yes I’m sure. I have paradoxical reactions to a few different meds. Do you know if all beta blockers have the same impact, or if it’s just metoprolol? Metoprolol is contraindicated for people with a fairly common genetic variation—CYP2D6. My EP did genetic testing and I do have that variation so she prescribed propranolol instead.
