Well-wishes to everyone! Haven't posted in a while. A new friend informed me yesterday he was on Xarelto for leg clots. He mentioned that his doc had indicated that no anti-coagulation test was ever required. Think we're all aware that regular monitoring is unnecessary with the NOACs. But I seem to recall a discussion here that over time (maybe yearly or so) some anti-coag blby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
John -- Hope all is still going well for you. At your convenience, would you be able to provide us an update on the Watchman? I'm certain many of us here are very interested. Thank you. /Lby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great info posted here! Thanks much to all that contributed. I'm not clear on the Medicare exclusion. If a retiree is on Medicare, but doesn't have the drug coverage, can the retiree purchase these meds from Canadian pharmacies without problems? /Lby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
Much appreciated, S! Gracias! /Lby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM

Forwarding "thank you's" to everyone that chimed in! E-Z for me to up the D3 and C, Jackie (and George), since I already supplement with them. The Oscillo sounds real interesting, Carol -- appreciate your recommendations. Even enjoyed learning about those unique diets, George. Hahaha... yup, I kinda expected that, J. ;>) Thinking of holding out this season to see what other reputable research comes out clarifying the situation. Besides hand-washing, home hygiene, good diet, not overdoing it physically, relaxation / meditation, sleep consistency, antioxidants, and trying to stay away from sick folks... I'm sure I'm not the only one here that would loby LarryG - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
It's that time of the year again when we get bombarded with the ads. Saw some recent articles (1) going against the CDC's standard advice to get vaccinated, and (2) claiming that the true reduction in risk of the getting the flu is hugely exaggerated by the media. Would love to hear from the group on this. Thank you. /Lby LarryG - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
S -- So sorry to hear of the eye probs. Know pretty much what you're probably going through... have had two detachments in the last five years in the same eye. And lost a lot of vision as a result. The good part is that I was able to be corrected (new lens prescription) to a decent status, keeping me very functional. Thanks, J. That was helpful. Experienced a retinal tear last week, and have temporarily D/C'd the baby ASA. Will discuss anticoagulation again with the EP at my yearly eval next month. Have supplemented with D-3 for over two years. Will review your posts on "thick, sticky blood" and "natural" blood thinners now. You're a terrific resource! Very much aby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has the above scoring system been officially modified or superceded? For a score of "1," which is referred to as "low-moderate" risk, it basically recommends use of an antiplatelet or anticoagulation med. As an example, a score of "1" is reached strictly by being a 67 yo male. But I recall relatively recent posts here indicating that newer studies shun the useby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, A. Started thinking about this myself a couple of months ago. Wife and I have been keeping regular ASA with us whenever we're out. She has it in her purse. I keep mine in the car, and in the insulated lunch bag I use to carry my water bottle. I also posted a reminder on the refrigerator about the signs of stroke, and the importance of calling 9-1-1 promptly. Any other ideas anyone?by LarryG - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

Been on atenolol for over 10 years... started on 50 mg daily, then reduced to 25 mg last year. No major SEs... at first, it was more difficult to exercise, and I experienced cold hands / feet -- wife would complain about the latter on those chilly Pennsylvania nights when we'd cuddle under the covers. ;>) But during these years, I've worked full-time, exercised consistently (walby LarryG - AFIBBERS FORUM
