Gentlefolk, I see with great frequency discussions of health matters of different kinds assuming correlation is causation. It is not necessarily so ! Sometimes it can be simple. If a man is shot through the heart he dies.. That's causation. When more ice creams are eaten by children drownings increase sharply. It is not the ice creams causing the drowning it is the likelihood oby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Gentlefolk. I read the opinions of many people I respect on Dr Gundry's book a couple of months ago in a post I missed.and made some comments. I couldn't understand how the the majority of the opinions could be held. I am sure there are people to whom the books principles apply and I'm sure wonderful examples of dramatic good changes could happen. But all round the worby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Gentlefolk, Dr Gundry has his stronlgly held opinions and no doubt they will suit some people. My problem is that he makes them a general rule. People can and do live very well around the world with widely different food choices . I have seen many dietary systems held with strongly held beliefs over the decades. Many or most have now disappeared. Be more questioning Thanks Alby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, I can't claim deep knowledge of the subject though I have had a lot of it done to me in the last months though not from the heart point of view. If you look up the Internet you will find quite a lot on the subject under extracorporeal shockwave therapy for the heart. The practitioner who works on me says various doctors in Germany Austria and Israel are treating atrial fby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the prompt and interesting report Jackie, I have decided to up my taurine from 2000 mg morning and night to 3 and 4000 mg alternate days which still seems within an acceptable range. I remember you saying we are all experiments of one. I will see how this particular one goes. Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I lack the knowledge of people like Jackie, George N and Eby. I take 2000 Mg of Taurine in the morning and also before bed. I would be classed as a healthy old man with my afib being unnoticeable including exercise apart from pulse regularity or ECG. Only medication is two a half milligrams of Eliquis twice a day. What would be a worthwhile higher dose of taurine combined with argininby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Addressed to George N though any help would be appreciated. I havent got the depth of knowledge as do you to interpret the results. I have detailed heart information and data from my cardiologist. If I sent this to you would you care to comment ? No responsibility on your side for comments or opinions. Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, one of life's puzzles to me is that wild caught tinned fish such as mackerel sardines red salmon et cetera are so cheap compared to fresh fish. Any cautions about a tinned wild fish eating policy? I am okay about exercise and reading books but I'm very lazy in the cooking department. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hello George, I always respect your level of knowledge. My question is if get a Kardia what can I beneficially do with the new additional knowledge that will improve / reduce the pulse rate variation or can result in any other improvement ? Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, I hope my spelling is correct of the three. My question is what factors make for choosing a particular one of the three. Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Thanks gentlemen, My heart rate goes from about 60 to about 80 when lifting heavy weights. I don't notice anything. My cardiologist says after reviewing my tests that half dose Eliquis was the suggestion. There is always some level of variation in pulse rate but at some point it gets into the atrial fibrillation category. My dream would be not to have the level of variation and mby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, My pulse rate variation can only be noticed when checking my pulse or on an ECG. I don't notice it when exercising or in fact at any time apart from checking my pulse which is normally around 60. The only medication I am on for anything is half dose Eliquis 2x 2.5 a day. I am a healthy slim 82-year-old. I would very much appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Aleby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with the heart math program of Doc Childre ? Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have never heard the subject before. My blood tests were examined by designated aviation medical examiner and my cardiologist. None mentioned the fact that my haemoglobin, HCT and RBC blood results were some points over the range. A doctor friend told me I should have these results looked at so I went to a specialist professor who said this gives thicker blood which is not a good thingby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Gentlefolk, I like the idea of being more alkaline and sodium bicarbonate seems a simple way as a starting point. As a healthy 82-year-old on no medications apart from half dose Eliquis what is a practical no harms starting dose? Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie and others, I respect your choices Jackie. Do you take it? In any case is there any particular make or brand that is suggested? Any cautions? Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
The topic gets regularly mentioned in a general way but I wonder if any tests are on the horizon that would give reliable indications as to whether to change your dosages of blood thinners or other practices. Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, Is there any independent reliable blood stickiness test on the horizon ? It would make life a lot easier ! Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, In Australia 110 grams of supposedly wild sardines ,kippers ,mackerel and so on around two dollars US per tin.. Very easy for a lazy person to pull on the opening tab. Any reason to buy fresh fish if you are happy enough with the taste of the tinned and hate cooking? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

I have completely unnoticeable by me AFIB. A long sequence of regular beats and occasional short skipped beat. I take low dose Eliquis 2 1/2 mg twice a day. That's my only medication. I have often read how organic orange peels, banana peels ,watermelon rinds etc are full of good nutrients. Are these a real benefit, also are these goodies different to eating more of the fruit in question (taste nicer to most people than the peels ) Any advice ? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
To Jackie and others, I vaguely remember being told long ago that a little snack can help some people go back to sleep. Whether the effect is real or a placebo it appears to help me. I generally munch on the small amount of nuts and a section of banana. Maybe a couple of spoons of yogurt. Any more details on good things to use in the mini snacks? Hello Erling, I know more than many or most aviation pilots license holders about the mathematical principles involved in flying. This doesn't make me a better pilot. Gentlefolk, As I get older at 81 with less future time available I have become more interested in what to do from reliable sources than why to do it. To Jackie and others, Are the liposomal supplements such as Lypricel Live on worth the very much extra ? I don't mind the extra as long as the benefits are extra.
