Thanks Jackie, On the newer CHADS2 VASC my annual risk before anticoagulants is 2.2 % so lets say 1.1% after Eliquis. I did a rough calculation ,no adjustment for stroke times. Yesterday I flew around Melbourne for 35 mins, Around 1 300 th of a week So annually I in 15,000. At 1.1 % risk that makes that particular flight risk I in 1.3 million. Gentlefolk, I have been asked this question by my younger and older children as well as my partner and ex-partner. I can find references to AFIB in the Framingham study, the different CHADS and there may be others which would be interesting to know. What I can't find is something of a more recent kind that says the general average of age-matched 80-year-olds without AFIB have a stroby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, As the age of 81 in November I should be flattered that a young lady asked me about health tips concerning diet and exercise for her first pregnancy. She is in a country area with limited facilities. Any suggestions on suitable websites or information available? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Apologies. No need to reply.I asked the Laboratory which I should have done in the first place ! Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Gentlefolk, I have been writing on a lot of topics lately so please excuse another one which is a minor obsession with me. I call it the zero diet and have posted a few times before in one form or another with zero or close to zero comments so I'll put it another way. There are many diets, Paleo, Mediterranean, Okinawan are just three of the huge variety. The problem as I see it isby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Some tests want you to be lower but can you be too low on some ? For example my lp(a) test says less then 75 nmol/L and my result is < 10. Is that great ,a mistake or is it too low? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Going through my older material I found various good reports. Anyone know anything ? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Thanks Jackie for your extremely prompt and very detailed reply. My fib is 2.0 g/L,sensi CRP 2.2/ mg/L,homocysteine 7 umol/L ,,ferritin 100 ng/mL I do ginger and regular turmeric but will, try the oil and the interleukin 6 test. Any tips for reducing CRP ? Thanks again Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, I get ferritin, fibrinogen etc tests but how sticky is my blood after all the supplements plus low dose Eliquis I take ? No other medications. Comments on the prothrombin time (PT) test and whether it could be of value would be much appreciated. Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM

Dear lasik1. Looked up electrophysiologist/ cardiologist so now understand. You obviously have good knowledge.Sounds like a second opinion not much value at this stage. My remaining question is whether in view of my many somewhat blood thinning supplements how can I find out if 2.5 mg Eliquis may be enough at a weight of 74 kg.instead of 5 I have asked Meridian about their sticky blby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Dear Lasik 1 I appreciate your prompt answer. I'm sure I have psychological deficiencies and still want to get a second opinion from a top of the tree person. Picking an unknown someone from a list doesn't suit my compulsions ! So I can understand. Why an electrophysiologist rather than a cardiologist? I realised after your reply I am not sure of the difference. Thanksby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, In 2004 I was diagnosed with afib incidentally without looking for it. I had no symptoms of any kind that I had noticed and had competed in fitness competitions internationally. My pulse was very erratic so I was told. I was then put on sotalol which had a very depressing effect on me After many changes in my habits and with the great help of material from Hans and this websiby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gentlefolk, There are different ways of making tofu but my local tofu selling restaurant has plenty of magnesium rich nigari as a byproduct which is thrown out apart from the bottles given to me occasionally. He gives them to me for nothing as he says better than throwing out. You could check locally and make your own arrangements. Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Dr Barry Sears has produced many popular books. One important measurement he states is the AA / EPA ratio should be 1.5. We should take sufficient omega-3 s /fish oil to get it to that area. Do the forum members think this is something to be followed? And what about his protocols in general? Thanks Alexby alexe - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Jackie ,Shannon and everyone, You mentioned that some over-the-counter are better than others which I am sure is the case. Are there any recommendations that can be made about higher quality brands such as Enzymatic and Natural Factors mentioned? Jackie and Shannon, I will take the advice of getting a medical bracelet. I take 2.5 mg of Eliquis twice a day and 1 Cardiokinase morning and evening apart from regular supplements. I don't know where to get a ACT test .I will mention it to my cardiologist next visit. Is the any standard physical test of blood stickiness ? I could arrange this through my friendly GP. An example from Dr Sinatra,a well known cardiologist. ''I used to eat seaweed. Seanol gives us 100 times the benefit!'' How much can you trust such information ? We live in democracies and have a right to express different opinions. Medically I hope these opinions are expressed on rational grounds but this does not always happen. Jackie and anyone, For some reason different countries don't use the same scales in their blood tests which to me is silly but we have what we have. Colin, I can't say who is right but I haven't seen anyone who says it is harmful. So if the only risk is a tiny loss in my financial resources I will accept that. I can remember when eggs and fat were bad bad bad. You could take a tiny amount of vitamin D but now doses are much higher. Life is full of twists and turns. Thanks Alexby alexe - AFIBBERS FORUM
