Hey guys, I'm currently into my 9th week post-ablation and I am due to go away for 10 days on Friday. Now, I'm not a great flyer and the last half dozen times I've flown my GP has prescribed me diazepam. Would this have any adverse effect or screw anything up as I'm still 'technically' in the 3 month blanking period? Thanks for your advice.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, Thanks so much for your reply. It has been a pretty miserable time for the past few months and I seem that I am constantly monitoring and readjusting my posture, neck, pillows of an evening. Terms of any exercise, I've actually not done anything more than a lot of walking, i.e. 12-14 thousand steps a day. I used to run a lot but I didn't want to risk it so soon afterby DavrosT - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi guys, AF aside, I've had a bit of a weird problem for a few months now and wondered if any of you had ever suffered something similar. Basically, I've had these weird sensations of neck weakness, head wooziness for a few months. It just came on me very suddenly one evening when leaving work and has remained since. It causes my eyes and ears to be very sensitive to light andby DavrosT - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi Jennifer, I share a bit in common with your husband, in that I am also 36 and was diagnosed a month prior to him. Luckily, they caught my episodes with ECGs on both occasions at the A&E dept. So there was definitive proof of what it was and I was more or less offered ablation as a first course of action. Only drugs I have ever taken for it were apixaban and that was after. My advice,by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey Oldticker, Glad to know that you're feeling good following yours. My first week was fairly uneventful, had one 2 hour episode a week later but since then any activity has decreased. All I get now are some PACs and elevated heart rate for a short time when I lie down at night. One thing I have noticed is that these experiences are much less aggressive than they used to be. What I foby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, Thanks again for your great response, your advice has always been very detailed, comprehensive but mostly helpful and reassuring. I'm moving along trying to be optimistic, so hopefully by about 8-10 weeks I'll be enjoying life after a successful ablation. DTby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey all, I took myself away from the forums for a few weeks as I was over thinking everything and reading too much! Past few weeks I've gone back to work following my ablation and I'm now entering into my 6th week post. Anyway, by this Thursday it will have been exactly six weeks so just thought I'd share how I'm getting on. Well.. it's been a mixed bag so far reallby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can't claim that an irregular heartbeat has ever woken me (touch wood.. ) but for the past 4-5 months I've been jarred awake many times as I'm drifting off, for seemingly no reason, only to find my heart pounding in my chest. I thing it may just be a single PAC that has set my heart pounding. My father passed away recently and I was staying at my mum's to keep her company on Sby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, Thanks again for your reply, I was hoping it may just be another symptom of the post ablation period when my damned heart is trying to heal itself. I expected things to be "touch and go" at times but it's much different when you're actually experiencing it. Is it obvious that I'm impatient to hit that 8 week mark? haha. I've begun using potassium, magnby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hey again all, So, I am now 15 days post ablation and I've had one episode of irregular heartbeat (though my heart rate was lower than it has been during previous episodes. This happened last Sunday. It seemed to 'right itself' a couple of hours later after my heart rate went up after a heavy meal. Since that point I've noticed potential new 'triggers', I suppby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM

I hadn't even seen that part saying how many he'd done. I was confident it was easily up to 1000 but as I didn't know for definite, I didn't want to say! Surely even a coupe of thousand would make him top-of-the-line?by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, As mentioned in the afibbers forum, I was diagnosed about 5 months ago, had an ablation 12 days ago and I'm currently recovering at home before (most prob) returning to work next week. Apart from the afib, it's been a fairly stressful year all-round, all told. I lost my father just over a week on from my afib diagnosis and thus began perhaps the worst few months of my liby DavrosT - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi Sam, As far as I can remember, 3D imaging was used to map the heart. I'm not sure re: magnetic catheter navigation but I believe he has personally completed many hundreds of ablations, with his team no doubt many more again. I can only give you generalizations though, but Dr Todd has his own website (the Heart Rhythm Doctor) and as far as I am aware you can contact him there. Iby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon (and anybody else reading), Thank you for your fantastic - and comprehensive - reply. I will check all those resources you've mentioned. I was given some great information prior to my ablation but you know what it's like, no matter how many times your doctor tells you something you think you might be the special case so I'm glad to have you reiterate what I'vby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, new to these forums and first time poster. I was diagnosed with afib or PAF to be more precise back in February, after 2 quite long episodes of afib (roughly 10-14 hours each) a month apart. Saw a cardiologist within 4 to 6 weeks and we agreed that ablation was the best way forward, considering my age (35 at that time, turning 36 prior to the ablation) and that I was generally fit andby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
