To be honest, there is - in my own experience - a very real connection between my stomach and my heart. I guess that would make me a vagal afibber too. Although, I do have other 'triggers' I'd say that the vagus nerve has a huge role in most of them. I was genuinely just waiting for the afib to kick in last night, such was that 'impending doom' sensation I was gettingby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I noticed somebody started a thread a couple of weeks ago about that 'pre-afib' feeling you get. Almost like your body/heart's letting you know it's coming. Well, having woken up feeling exhausted this morning, I think that's definitely what I was experiencing yesterday/last night. Had an ablation last June, 1 ep of afib a week after but nothing since (touch wood) butby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sadly, it's becoming the same way in the UK. We're finding it's much cheaper to get many medications from European pharmacy websites.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, I know what you mean by the 'pre' feeling, I have had that a handful of times since my ablation last June. It's a very impossible job trying to explain what it feels like to somebody that has never experienced a fib. I will say though, that I had a short episode of afib 10 days after my ablation. It lasted about 2 hours, and it settled down after peeing. Obviously, that wasby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your response. To be honest, I've been working on sorting my digestive and bowel issues for a few months now. I tried low fodmap initially, but found that far too stringent and there isn't an awful lot available where I am that doesn't require ridiculous amounts of preparation. I then went gluten free and wheat free. I try to be as dairy free as possible but it'sby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, I had a terrible sleep last night due to some really bad ectopics. Ordinarily, I'd just try to ignore the symptoms and let it pass. This occasion felt different though. I started to feel slightly weak an hour or so before bed, (also I have reflux and gastric issues and was experiencing a lot of excess wind by the time I got in to bed) accompanied by tiredness. I couldn'tby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
After my ablation I got this for about 6 months, it gradually goes away. It was worrying and a bit scary as if not experienced this before the ablation but it does pass. I can go for days or weeks without any ectopics these days but I also take potassium, taurine and l-arginine which appears to help in that!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had ectopics for weeks afterwards, also a minor episode of afib a week later. My heart was extremely sensitive to many things for a good 6-9 months afterwards but this gradually settled down. I took advice from the great people who run and now this website and introduced a number of supplements which, touch wood, seem to have helped a great deal too.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Vomiting, dehydration and body position seem to be the main ones for me. Although, it seems that my stomach is also becoming an issue. Thankfully, following my ablation with Dr Todd and his team in Liverpool that seems to be more a trigger for PACs but I imagine if any converted to ful af they would defo be real triggers.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quoteafibbers Activated charcoal should help with that. It seem to work better than apple cider vinegar with me, when i rarely need it. I see that this comes in tablet form, did not even know it existed. Thanks, I will check this out!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've rarely suffered with esophageal issues but I definitely think it's a new prob for me. Reflux also, but suffer little-to-no heartburn. I've had a fair few bouts of reflux-like symptoms in recent months but last night was the first time I'd experienced the ectopics as a side-effect like that. Really stressed me out when it happened. Eating late is something I have to getby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
It's hard not to! Only thing that sends me off to sleep sometimes. QuoteSam Speaking as a Physiotherapist - don' read in bed!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, the meal I ate prior to bed was gluten free bread, 2 eggs and a half tin of tinned tomatoes. None of those appear to be 'triggers' for me, and I've had them many times without issue. Obviously, things can change though, so.. I've also started to watch what I eat a lot in the past 6 months, due to the slight impact it seemed to be having on my heart health. Also, withby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, Anybody else ever have late night stomach issues that affect their heart and cause PACs/ectopics? I've had all kinds of health things recently, but my heart had been relatively quiet for a few months. This, obviously, has been a blessing. However, last night I had read a book in bed for an hour and put it away to go to sleep. No sooner had I lay down that I started feelingby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, been away from the boards for a month or so and I'm coming up to over a year since my ablation. In the meantime though, I seem to have been suffering all manner of different problems. With the most recent being shortness of breath. Woke up Sunday morning to feeling slightly tight across my chest, with a sort of 'catch' in the back of my throat. I've had it beforby DavrosT - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
This is a very interesting thread to me, having recently started experiencing a clear change in my digestive.. process, shall we say? Lots of reflux, difficulty swelling at least once during every meal, occasional chest pain and tightness under left breastbone. Last night I (stupidly) ate a few sugary snacks before bed. I experienced a lot of sensations and "movement", genuinely felt liby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just stumbled across this by chance. I have had left eyelid twitching for about 6 months now, just put it down to stress. At least now I know there's some link with magnesium deficiency..by DavrosT - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
And then, just when I have a relatively.. shall we say 'quiet' day with regards the ectopics, I get home from a busy day at work to a strange 'quivering' sensation in my chest. Almost feels like a vibration. Same thing occurred on Saturday night, very strange and a little uncomfortable. Every day has something new to stress yourself out about, eh!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi FibbinAfib, I have been experiencing many ectopics myself for the past 2 weeks. I'm struggling to get my head around how I can go from a handful a day to hundreds and for no apparent reason, so I know how you feel. But some people I've spoken to experience 1000s a day so they may be able to offer better advice. I'm currently just trying to pinpoint causes, which will no doubtby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Gill - when I read about people who've had 1000s of ectopics a day, I feel like a slight fraud. Here I am getting stressed out and moaning about having a few hundred a day! I definitely feel that the point you make about the ectopics being a sign that you are in nsr as making sense though. Currently, all of the supplements I'm taking are in tablet form. Usually, from Holland and Barrett (a health foods/remedies chain in the UK, for those that aren't familiar). I admit, there are probably better sources but these are the most readily accessible to me at the moment. With regards the fish oils, the claim on the packaging is 'pure' but that' probably not a 1by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I will definitely try that, as I obviously am assuming I'm hydrating properly but just drink the same 2-3 litres per day. I'll definitely look into raising my salt and potassium levels too. Thanks for your response )by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, I've been somewhat absent in the past 6 months, as things more or less leveled out after my first cryo-ablation last June 22nd and I had a 6 month period where I was able to mostly live like a normal human being. I had the occasional run of PAC/PVCs but nothing I couldn't handle or that didn't just go on its own after a day or so. Not had any episodes of afib and I&by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I came back here after an absence of 6+ months last week and this was the first thread I came across. Needless to say, I've now planned on adding I-Arginine to my daily supplements as well!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Anti-Fib, I didn't say I'd never had them, just that I'd never had them with this regularity. Prior to ablation, when I did get them they were fairly minor and didn't feel as pronounced. They also weren't so frequent. i.e. 1 or 2 every 5 minutes. I could usually pinpoint a trigger, in most cases too and once I stopped doing what I was doing (i.e. drinking too much cafby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, Thanks again for your response, it's very helpful. I had clearly missed the part about upping magnesium intake first. I'd been dutifully taking all of them day after day. I think we may have a (or at least one of) the culprits there. I actually had my potassium levels checked about 6 weeks ago after I'd been supplementing it for a while and it was at a good level.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie. I've been supplementing potassium, magnesium, taurine and fish oils now for about 10 weeks. I didn't realise though that you were supposed to raise magnesium levels before potassium. Perhaps I've been overloading on potassium? I started slowly with around 300mg mag and 400mg potassium per day. Compared to many on here, that doesn't seem a lot of either, but I didby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your response, Anti-Fib. I think that because many of the doctors/consultants treating these issues rarely go deep into the details, it's never made clear that it's the afib that is being stopped, not PACs, etc. too. I'd understood that all irregular activity would be halted. Not that I remember anybody specifying this to me, so I suppose that's just my own assumby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Evening all (if you're in the UK too). I'm literally a day away from hitting 12 weeks post ablation and just had a query about what is considered a breakthrough event. I've had various instances of short runs of premature beats, etc. over the past few months. Seemed to have mostly started to calm down barring the odd 5-10 second run when I lay down of an evening. But todayby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, I am now coming up to 9 weeks post and the activity is kind of the same. Still having little short episodes when I lie down at night. Usually for no more than 10-15 seconds then it levels out. On Sunday night though, this happened as it usually does, a few premature/irregular beats, a bit of palpitations and then I'd get little prem/irreg beats every few minutes until I fell asleby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
