I'm glad you said that. I have a lot of new/other health issues in the past 9 months and I've been in and out of work, so this today was really the last thing I needed. I've had a little issue in the past when I've left it a bit late to eat but I'm usually snacking throughout the day. Absolutely terrifying, as I'd not had anything that intense happen for a lby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, I have AF but was - as many of us have been - successfully ablated around 2 years ago. I've had just one episode for 2 hours of full-on AF since my ablation, that came 6 days after my ablation. However, recently I've noticed a lot more activity and in particular I'm having a lot of positional ectopics. But just now, I'd been taking food out to eat and I caby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah, that my issue. I've been increasing my dose of everything recently and I'm spending about £60 a month via HandB at the moment, it just isnt sustainable!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, regular poster and been taking Taurine, Arginine, magnesium and potassium for almost 2 years now but I just wanted to ask: what brands do the UK guys here recommend? I've been buying all of mine from Holland & Barrett so wondered if anybody else had any suggestions.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, That's very interesting to read this post from Gunnar. I have to say, I've never noticed a connection between taking taurine and when the ectopics occur. I'll have to play about with dosages a bit over the next few weeks and find out. Also, the ncbi article I'd glanced at before, but it's interesting to note the high doses of taurine and l-arginine mby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, Had to ask as I'm sure there's more knowledgeable types in these here forums than myself. I saw an occupational health Dr on Tuesday and when asking when medications and supplements I take, I told her Taurine was one. She them said that Taurine can actually cause ectopic beats, as I commented that that was why I was taking it. She basically said don't quote me onby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great blog, even as somebody who is sadly all too familiar with afib it's always good to read other people's detailed experiences.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have! Thanks for your msg. Supps came this morning, a few months worth but after your message I've been and picked up some bananas and a few alternative potassium rich foods. Slow but steady.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jackie, Thank you for replying. I'll definitely start upping the Magnesium and I'll start on a high dose of potassium as I doubt I get enough at the moment. Will ease off the arginine for a while too, to see how I feel. Thanks again! Dave Tby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Shannon, As always, thanks so much for your detailed and comprehensive response - always great to have your input. Yes, first ablation was 20 months ago - June 2017 and came 4 months after my diagnosis in Feb 2017 of PAF. It was my 2nd trip in 5 weeks to A&E department. It righted by itself on both occasions. First time I rode it out overnight at the hospital, 2nd time they diagnoseby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, Long time no post. Had ablation 20 months ago (successful) and all I've had barring a 2 hour episodes a week after my ablation is ectopics. These can be quite regular and have become more so since I started to have new-found gastro issues a year ago. Mainly bloating, gas, wind, discomfort which has become chronic. I began to change my diet quickly as I was concerned of the effby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
My beats range from the very subtle (I have assumed this is due to gravity, i.e. I'm lying down) to quite hard when I'm awake. They change all the time. The more subtle bed time ones have really disrupted my sleep too. It's so hard when you're struggling due to fatigue and tiredness already. Digestion has become an issue for me too. It was one of a long list of new health iby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Funnily enough, I was convinced a few months ago that I had sleep apnea, as I know my dad did. I spoke with my NHS nurse/GP and they said it didn't sound like apnea. Unfortunately, that's as far as it gets with some NHS staff! I may have to return and push this a bit more though as I know there's a link between sleep apnea and afib, and that thought concerns me greatly.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, Having a number of health issues at the moment which may be triggering/not helping my ectopics but I've definitely seen an increase in this at night. I should specify - when I say 'at night', it's literally when I lie down to go to sleep. So I'm wondering whether it's possibly partly caused by some underlying subconscious worry too. Basically, I caby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah, saw that this morning myself and the 2 pharmacists I spoke to at different stores today said that it sounds consistent with the listed side effects. As it's something that can take time to properly impact you, im just wondering whether to persevere and maybe these strange side effects can pass or lessen. Will see my GP on Monday!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Crazy how some of us experience side effects but some don't! I don't think the weight gain will be a huge issue with me as I've lost over 3 stone due to my other health probs and I'm having trouble keeping it on! Makes me wonder whether persevering is the best way.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, I've been having a lot of health issues lately and they were getting on top of me, so I asked my GP for a bit of help. He's prescribed me a low dose of Fluoxetine, 1 a day, indefinitely to try and take any edge off the stress and anxiousness I'm experiencing at the moment. However, unlike I usually do, I hadn't really considered how the drug would interact wby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks all, I'll look into your suggestions. Apologies this has veered away from afib slightly. It was originally an afib-related question though!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah, suspected as much. I have, they were one of my first stops but they seemed unconcerned unless anything showed on x ray or heart echo. Both were clear. I've had CT, spirometry, gastroscopy, menometry and many other examinations. Nothing. All if that would suggest there's nothing wrong with me! PNI was just another straw one as clutching at but I thought it would occurby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, This is more just a query, rather than looking for a definite answer: what sort of time frame after catheter ablation does phrenic nerve injury occur? I only ask as, having read a few papers online I know it's something that does happen. But none of them go into much detail about how long after it occurs. My assumption is it's during or immediately following. However, I&by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yeah, if agree with Carey and a few others - there's defo a genetic link. From my POV my dad and his entire family all had heart issues, and although he never saw anybody about it, the consultant reports prior to his death seemed to suggest unreported episodes of Afib. Not only that, but my sister has similar issues. Although, as far as I'm aware, she's never officially beenby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great story. I'm glad to see a positive outcome on here. It's good to know that fitness and looming after your body reaps positive rewards. My father died 3 months before my own ablation and a month after my own diagnosis, and he had been in really poor health for many years. Much of this because he never looked after himself throughout his life. As a result, I have since lost 2 sby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi guys, recently been diagnosed with reflux and GP prescribed Esomeprazole. I took initially 2 a day, then down to 1. I completely stopped a couple of weeks ago and reverted to 1 Ranitidine every couple of days which seemed fine. However, the GP has prescribed them again and advised I keep taking. I've read a lot of horror stories about PPIs and I'm not too keen. My main issue wiby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, Wolfpack. It appears from what everybody is saying that magnesium is what's needed to stop this happening again. I don't know how fast it gets into your system, but I can report I've had more restful sleeps the last 2 nights. The prior 10 days had been a waking nightmare. Now I just need the restless legs to back the eff off and I should be able to get a good nightby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank, Jackie. I actually mispoke/typed there. I have been diagnosed with reflux, although without the most obvious symptoms. I do however get tightness in throat or a lump in my throat feeling regularly which only exacerbates the current breathing issues I have. I also get really bad gas/bloatednes but my stomach has - thus far - not suffered too badly. I have had occasional spells of nausea buby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, hwkmn05 I actually stopped my mag sups because of stomach issues but I think I am going to just have to put up with that a bit more.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, I have started upping my doses of mag now and will continue to. I'll definitely look into speaking to my GP about the sleep apnea test. Thanksby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
hwkmn05, Jackie -- I take around 500mg a day. Although, I only restarted mag again about 4 days ago. I'd been having stomach issues and stopped taking it. So maybe that is the culprit!by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, Carey - yeah, according to my wife I snore a lot these days.by DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
So, following on from my post about the pre-ablation sensation I got once or twice last week. I had a run of pretty regular ectopics last night, which seemed to coincide with some muscle twitching in my shoulder blades. Each time I felt that familiar pause and thump in my chest, my shoulder blades would sort.. 'jump' or 'twitch'. I'm kinda inclined to take this as a nervoby DavrosT - AFIBBERS FORUM
