You don't know although they maybe telltale signs like a squirreling feeling sometimes when stressed or working out but always solid afterward....Then on Dec 1 my heart took off after almost three years of NSR that lasted for 35 days straight of high rate flutter that was hard to rate control at times; at 3 weeks I was put on Multaq to no avail then cardioverted in week 5. No short bursts lby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was under the impression Natale so invented this technique and I know he's been show casing it to the EP world. Not sure if many are actually doing it as it's rather difficult to master from what I'm told but not sure. McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great to hear all the positive TEE results!. Encouraging to hearing as I had a recent LAA isolation to hopefully put my flutter down for good. My current peak emptying velocity is high at 79, hope this will help with any contractile loss due to the ablation. Wheter there's any correlation we shall see in 6 months. Clay, My take on it is anyone who still thinks FIRM has any merit 4 years after all the hopla or even believed it in the first place without any proof of concept IMHO may not be very skilled at all to do a proper PVI without any re-connections ,never mind going outside the PV'sand hunting for other Foci or electrical activity on the back wall,SVC, coronary sinus,LAA etc..... I Hello All, I don't know where to start I'm so overwhelmed by my emotions......I have tears in my eyes as I try to write a quick reply..Maybe it's the anesthesia..... Shannon dropped me off at my my hotel room,a while ago and I can't even put into words what an incredible human being he is helping us all and finally meeting him in person and the personal care and time heby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Don, Are you saying Dr Natale is saying that a 0 Chads score needs anticoags for afib in general or are you specially referring to a compromised LAA from ablation and low blood flow out of the appendage? Yes reduced pumping velocity out of the LAA really negates a 0 CHADS score as clots could easily form. What really needs to be studied is how long a clot would take to form with a reduced fby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Interesting article on Metformin as a miracle drug I also read about before in other publications. This seems to be a recurring theme about this drug as more and more evidence suggests. Being prediabetic I'm managing my glucose levels thru diet and excercise as long as possible but wondering maybe It would be beneficial to start this drug to keep my A1c below 6. Not sure if this belongby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I prefer Superman himself with laser focus, eye on the ball non stop pedal to the metal, hunts and ablates with the uncanny ability to make durable lesions second to none! McHale recently commented on another thread: "Waiting too long only leads to stroke and fibrosis even in well controlled patients on AAR's." Mike, I guess what I'm saying here is that I waited too long and although Flec was controlling my afib, it took just one weekend of uncontrolled and choatic bursts of afib that led to my stroke 3 days later. During my TIA staring into the abyss Labor Day Weekend in 2013, I knew I had to get an ablation sooner rather then later after 4 years of paroxysmal AFIB. To end up with the two Best AFIB experts in the World has been a blessing from above. First Shannon's sharp focus, intelligence and unrelenting guidance in this chaotic world of this most complicated disease, which he then led me to Drby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
I spoke to Dr Natale about Utah Staging before my ablation and he felt it was fairly useless in identifying fibrosis in many areas of the heart and would be a disservice to base having an ablation on these staging scores until you get in there. But then again any lesser experienced EP would shy away on performing an ablation on someone with more advanced scarring fearing a less then positive outby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
Best of Luck, The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned. Waiting too long only leads to stroke and fibrosis even in well controlled patients on AAR's. It's a cakewalk........ McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

I went off Xarelto at 13 months post abaltion, now at 26 months afib free. Had a stroke 4 years ago and technically I should still be on Xarelto.....but then again I went to Natale. McHaleby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM

Que, It's called the 3rd Fat Pad Dr Natale ablates. I believe Dr Natale created a circle line ablation around my SVC for my sleep apnea. As Dr Natale basically told me told me one hour before his magic hands touched my heart, he's seen no secret sauce of the FIRM procedure: These findings, from a center famous for cardiac mapping, gives credence to one of the main arguments cited by skeptical European doctors—that the secret sauce, the black box of Topera, is a flawed algorithm. Hello All, Just wanted to update my status and I'm Happy to report no AFIB 2 years out on May 28. With all the stress I've been under it's amazing I haven't flipped into any afib. I've been way too busy with work and private endeavors and owe it to the community to give back some encouragement from my success. Coincidentally my AFIB was diagnosed Memorial Day weekenby McHale - AFIBBERS FORUM
