Per Kardia, slipped into aFib about 9 pm this evening with, maybe, some ectopics. 72 bpm. Long 12 hr day, hot humid, with outdoor chores in early a.m. and again in late afternoon-early evening. Sandwiched 18 holes of golf in between. Did my best to stay hydrated. Fella in our golf group had a hole in one! He bought the beer and I had about 2 to 3 fingers worth of a glass to celebrate. Saw a tv ad about this for the first time today. Expensive and you have to have a Kardia Care membership. What caught my attention was the “six arrhythmia” detection capabilities. Can all Kardia versions do that?by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Maybe a bit off track maybe not but….I would not place too much credence in any of the Best Doctor/Top Doctor Awards you may see or hear about without doing serious research. The link below is one of many you will find about these “awards.” I linked this one as it specifically mentions Castle Connolly.by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey Not quite sure how to ask this but…..Is the stroke prevention benefits of being prescribed Eliquis etc designed to protect during AFib or also during periods when you are not in AFib? If I am not in AFib and off Eliquis am I still at a greater risk than average for a stroke? The answer in general is it's designed to protect you whether you're in afib or not. I too have used the Kardia (without any subscription) and with no problem using an iPhone 8. During the early stages of the pandemic, I used the Mardia in teleconferences with my EP’s PA. Sent him a strip several minutes before our teleconference in lieu of going to the office and getting an EMG there. Granted this was a scheduled routine visit but still…. “I think my A-fib has a lot to do with having a narcissist for a husband. My father was an awful person and my mother used to turn red from the stress. I am now turning red in the face as well. Noticed I was in aFib when doing a routine radial pulse check. Kardia supports this at 64 bpm. Other than my initial, slow rate aFib seems to be my norm. Last episode about 18 months ago and ecv’d. Just want to double check…..at 168 lbs. what is my maximum 24 hr recommended flecainide dose. Thanks.by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM

Maybe I have been missing them, but today, for the first time, I saw a television commercial for the Watchman. I think it was sponsored by Boston Scientific. Is this something recent or have I been snoozing?by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Have had a TIA and have a couple leaky valves. So, I’m thinking that may put me outside the box. I'm afraid it might. Way above my pay grade to say yes or no, but a prior TIA and valve issues make coming off an anticoagulant difficult. Keep in mind that you can take NSAIDs while on an anticoagulant, just not for prolonged periods. The general advice I've heard is oneby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
Not a lot to add other than to say I have been on eliquis for 4+ years without any issues. Good luck.by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey Having a Watchman doesn’t necessarily guarantee coming off a blood thinner or does it?? No, it does not. There are many reasons why it might not but they're all patient-specific. For example, if you have a high CHADS-Vasc score, your risk of clots from other sources may be too high for you to stop. Or maybe you have valve issues, or peripheral vascular disease so you'by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM

Have had ongoing lower back issues causing radiating left leg pain which has taken a turn for the worse despite numerous physical therapy visits etc. On eliquis for aFib so regular nsaid usage not possible. Possible micro disc surgery discussed but was wondering about spinal ablation. Did some reading but looking for first hand feedback from those who have tried this intervention. Success? Quoterattana Hi Tony, I had my first ablation 2 weeks ago. I was out of afib for 4 days and then back into afib. They changed my medication from metropolol to Sotalol first for 120 mg am and pm. I was not put in the hospital, but I had to get an ekg 3days in a row after my first dose. I took my first dose Wed the 4th at 7:00 am. Still in afib 2 hours later at the ekg. Then 4:30 pm with mby Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
AndexXa is the antedidote/reversal agent for Eliquis which I suspect is used in emergency-like situations. I’m told by my EP that it is expensive but that most larger emergency rooms have it on hand. Anyone have any experience with it?by Mark - AFIBBERS FORUM
