If you read Brian_og article they were suggesting a different approach for paroxysmal afibbers with a CHA₂DS₂-VASc score of 3. One of the suggestions was a pill in pocket approach and my suggestion was to trial Nattokinase.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteGeorgeN If I had more than a minimal (<=2) CHA₂DS₂-VASc, I personally would not rely on NK. Aspirin is not a preferred choice for afib either. Not that I think NK is bad, I just would not rely on it. I recall a number of years ago, when Shannon had a TIA, he was on 300 mg /day in three 100mg divided doses. QuoteBrian_og Interesting study relating AFib events in paroxysmal individuals to stroke. Pretty much nails down that AFib is a cause of stroke as well as a marker. Also a discussion of pill in the pocket as a method for anticoagulation since the risk seems to attenuate quickly some days after the event. Nattokinase should be considered and trialled. The effects of NK are similaby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks George, Who thought that lot up? It's got to have more to do with blood quality I would have thought. eg. if your blood is thick and sticky it would more likely clot.by colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey So with a CHADS score of 3, you have about a 3.5% risk of stroke every single year. Over the course of 10 years, that risk is about 30%, and over 20 years it's 51%. Why does the risk of stroke go up every year by 3%? Could it have something to do with your fibrinogen levels increasing? There has to be a reason. BTW a 3% chance of having a stroke is also 97% chance of notby colindo - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteTarHart Thanks so much, Gill (and others), for your helpful responses. I live in Michigan, and I've been seeing Dr. Albano (an EP) at the a-fib clinic here. I would suggest you also take vitamin k2 with Vitamin D. E.g.. 5000IU Vit.D and 180mcg of Vit.K2 daily. Or to look into eating natto plus Vit.D. see this posting You may find your afib events will get less or even stop. Your Vit.D level is not far from ideal 40 ng/mL. I belive that statins are probably more harmful than good for most people. Besides the usual mussel issues statins interfere with the production of vitamin k2 which we get very little of in our western diet.
