Our hospital has a very good pharmacist that works with the team to help these questions- perhaps you have one as well? It is the first time i felt comfortable...like they actually knew what they were talking about.... LOL. Lots of times i think the docs wing it. They answered specifically for me (but they did give me omega 3 while IN the hospital). Check into itby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I see a functional med doc here in MI. I know Dr. Joel Kahn is here as well (he was within walking distance!) --- i have a friend that sees him and has afib and i'm just not sure he really does "get" it. She seems to do a lot of her own research on the topic. He is like $1000 which is OK if he is good. Does anyone here see him? Feel free to write offline. Or know of anotherby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks so much for your reply. I am going to discuss in March when i see the doc. It sounds like a measured approach. ps yes after i posted this i was like--- yea this is the QOD on the group LOL.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
so reading thru the comments because I really want to take ibuprofen for this potential kidney stone or whatever pain it is. (appt w/ urologist tomorrow.) I take xeralto but looking at that scoring thing as i understand it.. If you have or had afib that is factored in. The female part was taken out. So i don't need to count that. But i do have high BP. So that is just 1 point? Not 2by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
for what it is worth they gave me omega 3 while in the hospital when i was going on to dofetilide and xeralto. (they gave it to me b/c i said i took it at home...)by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was converted on 1/8 and started on dofetilide.. they kept me on xeralto when i left the hospital. I have what is probably a kidney stone moving and shaking. (I have one but it was quiet.) So i want to take ibuprofen but of course can't. I have some friends with A-fib. ONe just did the same thing i did.. hospital stay for dofetilide and she was not put on xeralto. QuoteElizabeth Bettylou:: Yes, I have been told by a few people that they can't get in to see Dr. B., that is too bad he is a very good doctor. Sorry but I don't know what "meh" means, he is one of the other doctors in the office, I have only seen Dr. B., I have been seeing him a couple of times a year for the past 13 years. He does my bloodwork, checks my thyroid (I wasby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElizabeth They all sell books and supplements, I go to Dr. David Brownstein in West Bloomfield Mich, he is a great Holistic doctor but he too sells vitamins and books. So, I wouldn't put Stephen Sinatra down for selling vitamins. I have never heard of Dr. Kahn, he is not too far from where I live. However, I would never go on a complete vegan diet, not enough protein which I for oneby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks all for your responses! I spent the week in the hosptial trying a new drug. Good times.. of course they knew nothing about diet except the Mg.. right?! LOL. I got the feeling some of the docs knew more but coudln't really share in that environment. I am going to do plant based.. plus meat on the side for now. toying with seeing Dr. Kahn (i had before) and going to look at thatby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteElizabeth Dr. Steven Sinatra says 80-20% on diet--80% vegetables and 20% meat, eggs. For Best Results, Go 80/20 Here’s one more thought, for those of you who appreciate what a vegan diet has to offer, but are okay not committing to it 100 percent: Consider adopting an 80/20 approach to your meal planning. That is, eat 80 percent plant foods and 20 percent animal products.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteJoyWin I’d rdather listen to Dr Joel Khan. He’s a Cardiologist and a Vegan. Don’t really follow Dr Sinatra’s ideas...and the constant sales pitch for his supplements and books. Dr. kahn is local. i did actually inbox him with this last episode. i might make an appointment with him but he is totally out of pocket to the tune of around $1000 for visits and follow ups.. mayb emoreby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM

thanks. I think i will just add some meat in this weekend for sure.. gee never know... maybe i'll flip back into sinus might do the supplement but husband just said.. why don't you just eat some meat and see.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Before this past month i had a few episodes of a-fib that were turned around with a cardioversion and i went on my merry way. Since 11/25 i had 2 episodes and now am in a-fib. Thinking thru things- about 6 months ago my husband and i went plant based for a health issue for him (prostate) and it actually did help. But i got to wondering.. i think veggies are good but i kinda wonder what i mighby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your reply. feeling better about it now and now i can spell it . As an aside, a friend was given solotol and did not have to go in the hospital; however my docs all said that has to be in hospital also... confusing info . ..by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So i tried to search but apparently i didn't get the spelling anywhere close because i can't find the drug on the internet. I had tried PIP with cardizem and rhythmol.. then another time (years later) with cardizem and flecanide. Didn't work. So once i was back in rhythm they said lets try cardizem and flecanide all the time. Well.. nope. IN fact there was something funky dunkyby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
edit.. my congenital cardiologist emailed me thankfully so i am going to go forward with his advice and i see him tomorrow. thanks.. i was trying to figure out how to delete this post but i only see edit. thanks all. thanks for your response. I did put a call in and have an appointment with my adult congenital doc tomorrow. yes now that i think about it that is the first thing they put me on when i have gone to the ER. i think it is regular at the moment- that is the weird part. X hours after i take it. Maybe it is happening at night after i take the night dose of flec. But i am pretty sensitive and i tby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been converted.. maybe 5 times (might be four). I always did PIP (which if you have an instant pot means pot in pot bit i mean pill in pocket.) Anyway... after 2 conversions in 2 weeks i went to a new EP doc (university of Michigan). i have a congential issue as well by the way. But the doc said lets try flecanide and cardizem all the time. I am seeing a new EP monday and have piles of questions. But about 10 days ago we got strep in the house. I went on antibiotics... i have an allergy to augmentin so did a z-pack. Man it messed with my gut- and maybe THAT is why i have been having a lot of weird beats. Or maybe it is the zith iitself. i have an appointment with a new EP on Monday ... Christmas eve 740 am... One question i have is medical marijuana. I am considering it for another thing i have going on. I searched on here and found a couple threads- mostly people saying it doesn't help but might make a-fib worse .. but i found this. So i wondered if anyone had any additional thoughts? thanks!by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Went to my FM doc today. I have had 2 events in the last month and was glad he talked about Mg and Omega 3s. I have been skittish to do bio-identical hormones. that is super interesting on the leaky gut. i had 2 episodes of Afib that i went to the ER for cardioversion. i tried meds- did not work. But i do have a FM doc and will be talking to him about this this week... i think this 2nd episode was when i had a goblet of wine. I rarely drink- and i know that effects the gut. wondering if you can elaborate on your leaky gut and what you are doing for it.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
