QuoteCarey I guess I have always been persistent. I get ECV and convert back..but not on my own and not with meds (I am on dofetildie.). So that is persistent right? I have gone over a year without an episode though--- then twice in as many weeks. I have never waited out to the 7 day mark LOL. I did convert once as I recall. I think the most I waited was like 4 days. I also have congenitaby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteLaniB I hope you have Medicare. They'll pay anywhere. Cleveland Clinic puts right on their website that for paroxysmal Afib their success rate is 85%, and for persistent Afib, it's 60%. Since you said you didn't know the lingo quite yet, paroxysmal is when you can convert back to normal sinus rhythm on your own. QuoteGeorgeN The original author of this book , the late Claire Davies, worked out how to treat his frozen shoulder and it is described in this third edition of the book, updated by his daughter, Amber. Quotelisa s I can't comment on the frozen shoulder, but lying on my left side is a definite trigger for me. As in just a few seconds will do the trick in the early hours of the morning. Which for me, is sad, because. I want to go there. I totally get that. and early morning hours. I just googled Inderal after 90 min in bed and three nights of not sleeping.. yea it's a biggieby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had other triggers in the past (red wine to be one). But haven't had an episode in well over a year. Just had 2 in two weeks. In both instances I went to roll over on my left side early in the morning. I have a frozen shoulder (left) and mostly sleep on my right side now since I am not a back sleeper. Can someone explain the CO2 thing for converting? Is that just holding your breath? there is a lot on the forum about that. I am just not sure the "how" on that. Thanks.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am going to see a new EP on Monday. I usually go to University of Michigan but this is the guy that did the cardio version so I thought what the heck. I will do a visit. First visit is with the PA though. And then my "regular " EP I have a visit with in a few weeks. ( Have had 2 afib episodes in as many weeks... before that long time between.). I go to University of Michigan EP group (as well as adult congenital group.). It is really hard to get someone to talk to there. I was in the hospital twice for cardio version.. it was a closer hospital so I called for an appointment after the first one they said, "see ya in 3 months." QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib Betty - probably best not to google youtube videos of ECVs... just enjoy the propo while you can and waking up in NSR. I have considered googling them from time to time.. but never had. better left unseenby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I spent the night at the hospital. I had weird feeling in my left side of face. Ct.. then MRI.. did a cardio version legit (not ER) and wow they got me with 1000 joules instead of the bit of a crap shoot that the ER had to do. Take a zero off that number. I assure you they did not shock you with 1000 J because if they had you'd probably be dead and there would be a big, blby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteThe Anti-Fib " When I called the EP department after my last conversation they said-- well you have an appt in December that is soon enough." QuoteJeff W Betty, I can only say for myself, (an adrenergic afibber), that vitamin D is an absolute trigger for my afib. I have tried it many times with the same result. Vitamin D works as a metabolic energizer in my research, and can act as a stimulant. I know nothing about you or your case, but I see too many people trying to micromanage their afib with supplements. I have been experimentiby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I don't understand your answer. Whether to have a cardioversion or not isn't a complicated question and I'm getting the impression you haven't told your EP you're out of rhythm. I really don't understand what you're doing. Why do you have three cardiologists? How can you possibly manage advice from three separate specialists? 1) adult congenitalby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Carey, they were reticent to do it last time in the ER.. wanted me to follow up with EP when they got heart rate to 100ish. hey all- old post here. I hadn't had an episode in a very long time. I think part was that I got lazy on my Mg.. but I decided to spend a few bucks and do a follow up w/ Dr. Kahn on Tuesday.
