I have a long complicated history (which I have somewhat shared before) and after my last thing (aortic stent.. aneurism.. another covered stent) they wanted me on Lasix so I have done that 2 years now this May. This ins't directly related to afib but kinda sorta because of the whole potassium thing. One drug they said they wanted me to consider was alcactone/sprionolactone. Thanks Jackie I do have lipsomal vitamin C. Both the weird stuff in the packages and some in capsules. I am pretty negligent on taking it so will slowly ramp up. (I seem to take 1000 supplements right now. and I think that is actually one of the things causing sleep issues- I notice it is worse when I take my supplements in the evening b/c I forget during the day.). A friend of mine has taugby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Lani.. yea in Mi it has been hard to get out. Well anywhere in the US has been crazy weather lately. I will look into those other supplements. When I did bioidentical hormones I got weird beats. I can't recall if I went into afib. that was years ago. (I'm 53 now.. or 54.. I forget LOL!) I love your tooth care ideas! I will start with the brushing and go from there. thby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteJackie I typically fell asleep with the help of PharmaGaba to help relax, but didn't always remain asleep throughout the night. I like PharmaGaba or L-theanine for 'taking the edge off' when a high stress situation is anticipated...but for me, those didn't help to produce uninterupted sleep. Amazing results with just the half dose. Now I sleep at least 6 hrs veby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I wrote a long paragraph.. then I erased it. For anyone that wants to look at side effects reported from the vaccine on the CDC website.. here is a link. You can search for any side effects or all of them based on the type of vaccine etc. J&J of course isn't on there yet-- just those approved. I found it helpful this weekend. Thanks George. I know Dr. Kann (my functional card) has talked about melatonin to help with covid. that's amazing about the tooth thing. I don't get my teeth cleaned as often as most because I have to take antibiotics (one of the few diagnoses that still have to). I noticed my gums are getting not happy and I am going to go in to do a supra-gingival cleaning soon- but I might haveby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
thanks. I was just looking at Holy Basil as well-- but that seems to have documented blood thinning. I think I will break apart a capsule of the phosphatidylserine tomorrow and just try a titch. I took my tiny 0.3 mg and it isn't working like it did before. ie: I'm awake right now LOL! Can I ask why you take so. much melatonin? no worries if you don't want to share. Stil working on insomnia here. Have met with a specialist that has expertise in amino acids. My 3 am cortisol is high and so one of the things they recommend is Seriphos / phosphytidylserene. I read one post on a mental health site that anything that touches the adrenals can set off afib. I have had a few ECVs in the past few months.. so im so reticent to try. I did do a search and didn'by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Struggling with pretty bad insomnia- have had it for years. But recently it has upped it's game and I have currently been up for 4 hours in the middle of the night... I love that the psychiatrist PA I am working with isn't a pill popper and suggested Ashwaganda.. specifically Sensoril. (a certain adaptogen I guess.). I read a bit that it is blood thinning and I am on Xeralto-- so wonby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am not diabetic. They are looking at non-diabetics for the study. Sorry should have made that clear. But good point about using the GP. I just don't think they would prescribe it for me. (I am over 100 for my numbers but barely.).by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
So... I scheduled an ablation for a few months from now. I got a call from the office they are doing a study and looking for participants of patients having an upcoming ablation. The study is with Metformin. They have done a survey of diabetic patients at the hospital and seen that metformin did decrease their a-fib. Looking into research they found animals and found studies done that Metforby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
re-reading theses as I was looking for Sotalol on the group. fyi I was on aspirin and Xeralto after an aortic stent and I was bleeding everywhere. (like pee... poo.. a knick would turn into a festival of fun.). Because I had to stay on the aspirin for 6 months I did stop xeralto- I mention b/c they do different things.. so for sure ask on second opinions the WHY. Quotemwcf Confusing! so yea regarding this one.. Berberine behind the thriller of marked symptomatic bradycardia and I wonder how this rolls in with the QT interval too... sigh. (just got another ECV today so doing a deeper dive into stuff.)by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm past that age (54) but was recently talking to my EP about stopping Xerelato and using only when in Afib because I have frozen shoulders and want to use ibuprofen ... he said absolutely not. I have only converted once on my own though (just got home from a conversation today). I take dofetlide and they said that even if they do an ablation they'd likely keep me on it. So I donby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you everyone... To Ken-- I took it 2 nights in a row. just 1/2 a mg. To Carey- I agree.. totally could be Gerd even or whatever .. it was just disconcerting. I did just have a bunch of heart tests done so I think I am in the clear. I might still get a CIMT with Dr. Kahn (Everything just adding up money wise. cha Ching!! LOL!). And Jackie.. THANKS. yes I will look at this. One time I gby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have wondered how the Gabapentin and the Gaba supplement are related. (The last time I had alcohol was about 2 years ago.. I had 2 goblets of wine and ended up in a-fib. I've had since then not drinking but it kinda put a damper on alcohol for me. The doc said straight up booze would be better--- thought that was kinda of him to give suggestions lol)by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you. Yes Dr. Kahn (my functional card) mentioned breathing. I will look at this thank youby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm still having a buggar with sleep. Gabapentin was the next discussion drug. I am on dofetilide so options are limited. (I am more a natural gal and have done a lot there. Melatnonin- I got heart pain... L-theinene a giant headache.. Concerned with CBD because of QT.). So I read in a small study that gabapentin can initiate a-fib. I have asked this before but it was months back.by bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks. I think I'll take a read and try and calculate it myself and maybe see if anyone wants to see if I did it right. The NP scared the crap out of me this week. sigh.. Thanks for posting that. I did not ask for the article the NP was looking at (I think I wrote down in notes where it was from). I am very pro medical marijuana.. and pro marijuana in general. funny I had an EP appointment yesterday and he (NP) pulled up a thing stating how it can increase QT and I am on dofetlide so that was disappointing. We have used MMJ in the house for other issues very successfully. (We don't smoke it but bake it and then put it in oil- and use it like a med estimating the mg /ml.). I wish there was more info out there on this stuff. but yea not likely toby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well I only got to see the NP for my video appointment a couple days ago. He would not use the alive-cor to see what the QT is.. and he also told me not to do CBD as it can increase the QT. IDK. all these guys work in a vacuum. I was talking to him about xeralto and how I can't take ibuprofen (frozen shoulder). QuoteGeorgeN This image shows what the interval is and how to measure: Source: I'd make a pdf & print it out & work on the paper. Your AliveCor will use an X or time scale of 25mm/sec. On your AliveCor graph, the space between dots is 1mm, 5mm between light lines and 25mm between heavy lines. so the image didn't load. Quotesusan.d I bought this in 2005 from eBay. It’s from Germany. It shows QRS and ST reading that was spot on when my former ep compared it to his 12 lead. I know it won’t suit your purposes for QT evaluation but perhaps there is a gadget out there that will show the QT without buying a 12 lead ekg machine. I am always wanting to try natural stuff but I am on dofetlilide and so I have concerns about QT. I was wanting to try CBD for bed or even some THC (my insomnia is terrible). I have the 6 lead alive-Cor but my dos said that doesn't tell QT interval. While looking up the device for a friend I came across this little link that apparently it can be used with a clinician to evaluate QT. I meaby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotesusan.d = So that's how we ended up with ablations leaving the offending cells still firing but stopping the AF anyway. Which brings me to a nagging question I’ve had since my overdose/ICU. He explained if he did a PVI cryo ablation then the firing signaby bettylou4488 - AFIBBERS FORUM
It is funny - I just went for a walk after having 2 AF episodes in the last month. In between them I did my fastest walking ever. I was born with other stuff... and cardiac exercise is part of my cardiac plan.
