this is my biggest fear ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/306... This showed that for a few weeks after stopping NOACs there was an increased risk of severe stroke due to the NOACs inducing a hypercoaguable state on withdrawal.by anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
interesting about taking Eliquis PIP. Seems to me that on my recent refill some of the info on the warning label has changed. Seems to focus more on stopping it causing strokes. In other words we know if we stop that we are back to square one re danger of a stroke when in a-fib but seems to state that just stopping Eliquis can cause a stroke just by having been on it =0:by anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought I posted this but apparently not I have been using Cardiovascular Research Mag Taurate in the morning but recently discovered it was found high in arsenic in 2016 and there doesn't seem to be any way to find out if they eliminated the cause. The place I purchase it from supposedly is looking into it but so far (after a week) they haven't been able to find out. I also use Pureby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
thnx for response. I have been using Klare labs mag glycinate capsules. I had been taking that at night and then during the day Cardiovascular Research mag taurate which I just discovered was found to be high in arsenic in 2016 and I have no idea if that was remedied so have stopped taking it I will try the powder you mentioned but what about mag taurate, is there a safe one or is not really necby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM

just read this info from Mary Shomon who is perhaps the most knowledgeable person regarding thyroid issues. Have never been told that thyroid meds can cause problems with Eliquis: Anticoagulants like warfarin (Coumadin) and apixaban (Eliquis) interact with drugs for both hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. I was wondering about reducing my Eliquis dose to 2.5 bid from 5bid as I haven't had AF for over 6mths and was thinking perhaps doing the reduced dose (I am constantly fearful of brain bleed) along with fish oil etc and then taking full dose when in AF. anneh Quotewolfpack I like the article, but I wish he hadn't expressed things in percentages. 1% of what amount of time? thnx for responses Sounds like its safe to take up to 1,000mg fish oil. Do you think its ok to add hemp oil (good for GLA) along with the fish oil?by anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
I now have dry eye apparently related to cataract surgery couple years ago. I was taking plenty of fish oil /hemp oil etc and other oils when it started last year (which seemed to help) but due to now being on Eliquis I cut back on them as most are likely to thin blood. So my question is - how much fish oil/hemp oil etc is safe when taking 5mgs bid Eliquis daily (female/145lbs/79) as the medicalby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just read this info and find it frightening. In other words my Eliquis may help prevent an ischaemic stroke from afib but can cause me to have a hemorrhagic stroke according to Dr. M. I have Hashimotos low thyroid and take Levothyroxine 50mcgs once a day. Last year I stopped adding the compounded T3 in case it caused more afibs and saved myself a bunch of money as my results have been the same without it. I see an integrative dr and recently had lab work done. My TSH is high 4.91 (0.40-4.50) but my T3 is good 2.4 (2.3-4.2). Now the dr is wanting to prescribe T3 again as he saiby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM

so today i went back to cardiologist just for a followup since he put me on metoprolol and eliquis in July after several afib episodes (prior I only had them every 2-3yrs). I did have another short episode in late September. All was going well until he looked at my meds and asked me why I was on 2.5mgs of Eliquis 2xday, he said he wanted me on 5,g 2xday. I told him the anti coagulant office accepby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hi friends, I was started on Eliquis 2.5 2xday and 25mgs Metoprolol 1xday early August due to several afib episodes (prior I only got them every 2-3yrs for last 8yrs). I wanted the lowest dose of Eliquis because my diet is vegetarian and high in fruits/veggies and includes fish oil/garlic/herbs. So now have found out what I thought was a pimple on my face is a basal cell carcinoma =:0 fortunatelyby anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
thnx for responding Joe. How do they do a clotting test? I will insist the cardiologist do one. on the subject of blood coagulability, I am wondering about the CHADs score. For instance I a 79yo so of course it adds to my score, however other than my afib bouts (until July I got them every 2-3yrs)I am extremely healthy and eat a vegetarian diet with loads of fruits/veggies. I was hoping that ablation made it possible not to have to use any of the meds including blood thinners Perhaps after awhile you will be able to completely eliminate the Eliquis and go back to the safe routine. I am also on the 2.5mg Eliquis 2xday but was wondering if it would be bad to just take 1 dose once a day while not having any a-fib?by anneh - AFIBBERS FORUM
so Jackie what is the actual dosage of Eliquis you are on? After reading the above report from science daily I am now very concerned as I agreed to go on 2.5 mg Eliquis 2xday last month per my cardiologist after several a-fib incidences (altho now on 25mg exteneded release Metoprolol daily) as I was told I am now CHADS2 due to my age. Hi, I was wondering exactly which products and dosage are recommended to try to prevent clots. Hi, I seem to see that most people on the forum end up with ablation Anyone here managing their a-fib episodes without ablation? I had my last episode in March this year and used a dose of Metropolol to convert. My prior episode was 2 years before that and prior to that one went 1 year. thanks Jackie, I guess I was concerned that inhaling it might trigger AF as I am not familiar with it.
