I remember reading an article written by a physician who speculated that Hillary Clinton left the 9/11 memorial event because of an Afib episode. At the time, I had not been diagnosed with it, so I really had no knowledge of it. Knowing what I know now, I could see why he would say that. (Not getting political )by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN Edited to add - have you tried drinking a V8? Someone on here said that will stop their Afib and maybe it's worth a try with your SVT. Should be low sodium V8. The salt in LS V8 is potassium chloride. Yes. Thank you!by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Sue, Im not familiar with your history, so I looked back at some of your older posts. In one, Carey gave you this advice on SVT: "In my EMS days we always had patients try to exhale as forcefully as they could against closed lips. Sticking your thumb in your mouth and trying to blow against it is an easy way to do that. The SVT might start again later or it might not. It's likby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I asked because so many of us have been told our hearts are in great shape. i understood that to mean they could not see anything that caused the Afib. If you can't see anything, what is progressing? (sorry to sound clueless ) You don't sound clueless at all. This isn't simple stuff. It's hard to explain any better than I did last time because it'sby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey What exactly does "afib is progressive" mean? It means that as you get older the underlying disease can slowly get worse. For example, maybe when you had an ablation at 60 there were ectopic signals coming only from the area directly around your pulmonary veins, but now that you're 75 there are ectopic signals coming from other areas of your heart that are outside tby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey Yes, it's totally realistic. What's also realistic is the possibility you'll never need another ablation. An ablation that's still fully effective a year later is generally considered permanent for life and doesn't ever "wear out." However, afib is a progressive disease so it's possible that you could develop new sources of afib later in life thaby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm sorry you have had such a rough time. Hope this gets better for you soon! As far as Eliquis - I took it for about 3 months right after my Afib episode. At my first EP visit (and only one so far) back in Feb., he told me to stop it and restart if I had another episode. While I was taking it for those 3 months, my stomach was a little weird. However, if needed, I will take itby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuotejohnnyS I want to share some information about a supplement I discovered while dealing with gerd, which I suffered from at least 10 years. I recently got rid of H. pylori and initially I hoped that this would also eliminate my gerd but it seemed to actually make it worse, at least it felt that way. Quotepgrove1 Thanks for all the responses. Honestly, it's hard not to be super depressed about this. I know it probably sounds like whining but at 34 and having episodes every 2 weeks (even if they are only short) makes me super apprehensive about my long term prospects. QuoteCarey An ER doc wouldn't pay much attention to afib because it's not going to kill you. ER docs don't do follow-up care or often even give referrals. A regular cardiologist is also likely to pay little attention to afib, especially if it was just a single episode. If you have another episode, you need to find a electrophysiologist (EP). QuoteCarey It seems that a lot of people with Afib are prescribed flecainide, but I wasn't. What is the criteria for prescribing it? There are criteria for not taking it but taking it is mostly just a judgement call on the EP's part, and it's pretty common to try more than just one. After seeing this, I think I'll try the magnesium water again. However, from what I can tell from his site, he doesn't dilute the mixture.
