Just read that Mark Spitz was recently diagnosed with Afib.

Yes. I used to wonder how I ended up with Afib, because I've always exercised and tried to take care of myself. I am far from a top athlete, but it does make me realize that Afib doesn't discriminate.

Houston Rockets basketball great Akeem Olajuwon and Boston Celtic star Larry Bird both had AFIB end their stellar careers. Wilt ‘the stilt’ Chamberlain had it too, as have numerous other basket-ballers with huge hearts including BIG left atriums.

As Carey noted above, the list of star athletes significantly impacted by AFIB is very long!

Add Bill Bradley (Knicks) and Mario LEMIEUX (Penguins) to Shannon’s list.
They’re not only all endurance sports athletes but also all tall athletes

Add LA Lakers great Jerry West to the list. Had it for many years.
