I had been holding off purchasing the KardiaMobile. Mainly because I was afraid I would become a little obsessive with it and that it would actually cause me more worry than help. However, there have been a few times when wished I had one. I did purchase one today. It was on sale for $89 for a limited time and wanted to let anyone know who doesn't already have one in case they wanby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotewolfpack I've read numerous times that Afib itself is not dangerous, but the fear factor is still there for me. That’s normal. I went into AF 3 years post ablation out of the blue while running. Weirdest thing I’d ever experienced. It wasn’t the least bit uncomfortable and I didn’t even stop running. So that kind of killed the fear factor for me. I still get ectopics from time tby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteFibrillator Rate control drugs barely put a dent in my standard 150 BPM afb routine. I was dizzy, out of breath and ultimately had ejection fraction ('EF') of 25% and heart failure diagnosis, by the way at 40 yrs. old. No F'in way you could keep me in afib permanently without calling it what it would be, a slow early death sentence sitting on the couch doing nothing.by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quotewolfpack Probably the size of the atria (enlarged) and the amount of fibrosis (scarring) in them. 20 years of LSPAF will create a lot of electrical remodeling. I could imagine that over time a patient could become used to the rhythm and not be so symptomatic. It is a quality of life issue. I think we all react similarly to initial AF episodes. I was also dizzy and short of breath the fby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
So, if you were to compare the heart of someone who lived with permanent Afib for 20 years, with rate control and anticoagulants, with a person with a "normal" heart, what would be the difference? Is it mainly a quality of life issue.....how it makes you feel? I know my friends husband said his first episodes were uncomfortable and scary. Now he's in permanent Afib and sayinby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
This thread made me think of a question I have. When a doctor and patient decide to leave the patient in "permanent" Afib, doesn't that cause heart damage (failure? ) since your heart is not working efficiently?by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN I'm amazed at the number of people I know that have it afib. Also many who are diagnosed have no idea how to tell if they are in afib. I saw a friend at a party. He mentioned he had afib and was looking at getting a Watchman device (never had an ablation). I asked him if he was in afib at that moment. He replied no. I asked if I could feel his pulse. Sure enough he was inby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I went to the ER after my all night episode and had the EKG that showed Afib, the PA on duty said "They'll send you home and tell you to take an aspirin a day." She acted like Afib was no big deal. She even said if you had to have a heart thing, you would choose Afib. However, the cardiologist came in and said that he wanted to be admitted and checked out since they had noby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
**An estimated 2.7–6.1 million people in the United States have AFib. With the aging of the U.S. population, this number is expected to increase.** I've seen this statistic fairly often. I'm guessing the 4 million range is trying to account for those who have it, but haven't been caught on an EKG (or are not even aware they have it)?by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had headaches fairly often until I had my first (and only, cross your fingers) Afib event. I don't know if they were all migraine, tension or what. But, I have not had a headache in over 6 months. I figure it has something to do with the beta blocker I am taking. If that's the case, that's the only good thing about Afib .by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
For what it's worth, I had a cup of coffee and chocolate cake just a little while before my Afib event in November 2018. That was when I was diagnosed. I still drink about 2 cups of coffee every day. Haven't. given up dessert either 😊by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have been taking 3 capsules a day thinking I was getting a total of 600 mg of magnesium. I ran out so I bought a new brand that says it is 225 milligrams of elemental magnesium for 3 capsules. Should I just start out with the three capsules per day? It is also magnesium glycinate but does specify 225 mg of elemental magnesium (for 3 capsules)by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hello the Magnesium I have been taking says that it is 200 mg bisglycinate magnesium per capsule, but only 28 mg of Elemental magnesium. Does this mean that only 28mg of the capsule is actually magnesium?by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
Quoteallserene Is 57 that low? Mine is typically 52, and runs 47 at night. I am on BB (bisoprolol) for my BP. Which was hugh and likely contributed to my Afib. I have had one episode, in late November 2018. Everyone had different circumstances Kate so you may be ok on 52.... They say that Marathon runners etc have a pulse of 40 ! QuoteDean G'day Jackie, Those Conference links you put up on Nattokinase in April 2005 brought the memories flooding back! Great research times for all of us back then. Thanks to you and that Conference post that's when I started eating natto food every second day. Have now been afib free ever since. QuoteCarey I don't see how this study concludes that Eliquis produces a state of hypercoagulation? Edited to add: Read further and see that study concludes the strokes suffered by those withdrawing from NOAC was more severe. It doesn't conclude that, and the association with stroke severity is weak. Nothing can be concluded from this study. There is no cause and effect shown, thby katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteBrian_og Here's another link. One question I have is does it matter if you're not still in AFib? Or is this not a problem if you're in nsr? Whether the hypercoagulate state causes stasis of the blood on the laa faster and thus when you go back into nsr you get the stroke, or something else that's nothing to do with that? QuoteLouise After my last post I did a little research on several sites. It seems that HDL over 100 “could lead to higher incidents of heart attack or death.” Naturally that is not good news for me. But I then read that the risk is not that great when LDL and Triglycerides are under 100. Still food for thought and something I will definitely ask about. QuoteLouise I thought I might be having a heart attack today, but now think I just panicked. I was driving and got what felt like (and most likely was) indigestion. My chest felt tight and like my bra was too tight. I had recently read about the actress Susan Lucci’s heart attack and stent due to a 90% blocked artery. The tight bra was what she had described. QuoteCarey My EP said the Eliquis takes effect 2 hours after taking it. Is that your understanding? It starts taking effect within about 30 minutes. Two hours is when it reaches full effect. Well that's good to know. Thanks.by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteCarey I wouldn't go through two 24-hr episodes per month without an anticoagulant. Even with a CHADS 1 that's pushing the risks. However, what I might do if I were in your shoes is take the Eliquis only as needed. I would take it immediately when an episode begins and continue taking it every 12 hours for at least a few days after it stops. I doubt your EP will endorse such a plan,by katesshadow - AFIBBERS FORUM
