Have you ever considered purchasing an alivecor monitor for your phone. This would give you a more accurate reading.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wolfpack, II agree, an EP is always more knowledgeable about these matters. Just had an EP consult which I'll describe below. George, my rates are not really hitting new highs. I've hit these before, but what makes it worse is any bit of anxiety shoots them right up, for example freeway driving, which I now won't do while in afib. I thought I remembered being told years ago thaby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
My afib has become more frequent, a couple times per week, and rate control has become more of an issue. I am pretty much taking the max amount of metoprolol and will not consider rhythm control drugs. The majority of the time I'm at home and can rest or sit and enjoy rates in the 80's and 90's while in afib. If I need to be out, or God forbid, have to do some freeway driving I wby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Gosh Shannon, you have been through so much. Honestly, I could never do it. I was just wondering about using this as a supplement, a Dr./ researcher friend thought it might be worth a try.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
WebMD reviews seem to indicate this is used in the hospital via IV for people with SVT. I ran across 25 mg tabs by a company called Montiff. Seems like I remember some conference room discussions about there being a possible connection between lack of ATP and afib. Has any pone tried this? Any thoughts?by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

I had one EP tell me that the majority of his patients have thyroid problems. I had another tell me that it is best to have an ablation only if your thyroid is stable because increasing your synthroid will cause new focal points in the heart. Thus I do think that there is a connection with the thyroid meds and afib. In my early days of taking synthroid I would frequently get a short burst of SVby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie, I didn't know that. I actually have a casein allergy so I can't use whey. I wonder if there are vegetable proteins produced using this process.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had the same problem. Finally met with Dr. Natale and liked him very much. I am still on the fence as far as an ablation. Went back for a regular visit at U of M and mentioned that I flew out to see Natale and was told that there was no need to come back. I explained that if I had an ablation out of town I would still want someone to follow locally and was told that I could always come in thby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
I find this interesting because I had a chiropractor tell me several year ago that he thought the afib related to the nerves in my upper spine that connected to my thyroid. I have had a massage to my upper back put me into a fib and on a couple occasions upper spine adjustments. Not sure how this might figure in to stress and poor sleep being triggers.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

I take two Klor Kon tabs each day and according to drugs.com a tablet equals 600 mg of potassium chloride I am wondering how much elemental potassium is in 600 mg. of potassium chloride.. I am thinking that this my mean I get 1200 mg of potassium from my rx. Depending on the day I get 2700 mg. from diet. Which would leave me 1800 mg deficient. Should I count the potassium iodide towards the tby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, Thanks so much for your detailed response. I had posted another thread about my inability to lose weight on an extremely low carb diet, less than 20 grams per day. Ten years ago I would have responded very well to that type of diet and have concluded that insulin resistance must be the culprit. I have started intermittent fasting and my dr. has prescribed metformin to help the procesby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Homeopathic treatment for arsnic I wonder how we can test for this type of poisoning? I've had hair tests show that I have low levels of heavy metals, but maybe this doesn't tell the whole story bacause I can't lose much weight on even a very low carb diet.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
George, You mentioned that you didn't do the three hour test. Do you have insulin levels checked? Does the timing make any difference? Also you mention following Gundrys diet. Are you now vegetarian? Thanks, Lynnby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, I'll take a look at that.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

When you look at what helps to reduce glutamate, it looks like many supplements recommended for afibbers do the trick. Even the low carb paleo diet helps reduce glutamate. Coincidence, I think not. Also, just this morning I read an article in the new Life Extension magazine there is an article discussing PQQ and how it protects the brain from glutamate.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Colin, Thanks for sharing your experience. I will probably give something like that a try if I don't get better progress after dropping the dairy. I have read that those diets are supposed to be very effective. It would be really nice to see if losing weight really does reduce afib., but at this rate it will be a long time before I know. The off days on the 5-2 diet would be great fby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
You are so right about sugar. The coffee and the surger are out the window now. Can't stand the coffee without the cream. The sugar was a temporary lapse, got a taste of it during the holidays and things got out of hand from there. Thanks for the tip on the coconut milk and chia, sounds delightful. Jackie, Thanks for sharing. You have indeed confirmed my suspicions regarding the meds. I have been gluten free for approx. ten years. Even the slightest bit of cross contamination will trigger an episode. I'm quite sure I have leaky gut and some candida. The stool test I did with the FM doc a year ago showed a bacterial overgrowth. They wanted to put me on Cipro (yikes), insteadby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
After all that has been written lately about weight loss being able to reduce afib I decided to get serious about losing weight, but it seems to no avail. For the last 18 days I have been following. a ketogenic diet. High fat low carb. I've been carefully tracking my intake using the Cromometer app. Keeping net carbs below 20, made a couple mistakes and had them up to 25. Also keeping pby Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

Who was the other individual who posted on here after his Natale ablation that experienced some severe issues. I would like to go back and review his posts.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
That makes sense I guess. I was under the assumption that once I met with Dr. Natalie he would be my Primary EP and that would have one closer to home for emergency situations.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doesn't dr. Natalie instruct his patients regarding meds after an ablation?by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations Jim. I am still sitting on the fence re:ablation and one of my fears is flutter. Why doesn't Dr. Natalie perform a flutter ablation on everyone. I believe that there are some docs who do this. It seems like a common and uncomfortable problem post ablation.by Lynn - AFIBBERS FORUM

I ran across this found it to be very informative. I even shows that sub clinical hypothyroidism has negative effects on the heart.. Which is how I believe I came to experience afib. My first EP acknowledged that the majority of his patients had thyroid issues. The Ray Peat quotes at the beginning are interesting as well.
