Thank you, Nancy. I thoroughly enjoyed this and it reinforced The Strategy. I've only been taking supplements for 5 months and it's good to read this stuff every once in awhile to reaffirm what I am doing and also be patient and stick with it. Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just got a new bottle of Potassium Gluconate and the 5mg scoop that is usually included was not in it. Since I cannot convert mgs into teaspoons, could someone use their 5mg scoop and put into a teaspoon and tell me what part of a teaspoon 5 mgs is? I'm sure it doesn't have to be exact, but I just want to be close. Thank you! Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for the post, Stephen. I do take Pradaxa, Taurine and CoQ10 (along with Vit D, Magnesium and Potassium. I also take hormone replacement, and apparently Estrogen (or generic Estriadol, which I am on, could have a clotting effect, but my doctor didn't think it was a big issue to take it while on Pradaxa. Now that you've brought this up, I am wondering if the combination of Cby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
hstamas, I started taking magnesium in March and had to go up in dosage very slowly. I started with 100mg a day for a week, then 100mg twice a day, etc. I still am only taking 100mg in the morning, 150 with lunch and 150 with dinner, only 400. I have to stay at one level for at least a week or 2 before upping the dosage -- and I still get diarrhea once in awhile. Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
So glad to hear the good news, Rob! Keep us posted! Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, I believe I responded by forwarding this to my congress about a month ago, but cannot find the post. Is this a new different Bill? Louiseby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
McHale, thank your for the blog post. I research from time to time whether "they" are coming up with an antidote for the new anticoagulants, but haven't seen one this recent. Hopefully it will be approved soon, although it seems to take longer in the U.S. It DOES remind me, however, that I should keep a note on myself at all times that I am on Pradaxa. I don't take any othby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Rob, I'm a ways away from choosing ablation (first afib episode in early 2011), but I read everyone's reports also and it sure sounds like you are in good hands! Very, very best wishes for an easy time of it. We look forward to hearing from you next week! Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I mentioned this to several people and one friend's mother had been on coconut oil for Alzheimer's, and her memory did improve; but her doctor took her off because her cholesterol went up. (?) I thought cholesterol only came from animal products, so I don't understand how that happened. (Personally, I would rather be on cholesterol meds or change my diet otherwise and retain my mby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
From what I have read, there is no antidote for Xarelto, which is the concern about Pradaxa. In what way is it better than Pradaxa other than taking it once a day instead of twice?by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I too chose not to let Warfarin run my life. I've read all the reports about Pradaxa but I am still on it. I think it has a lot to do with your own blood clotting, which I believe is different for a lot of people. I just recently cut myself on the arm and by holding a kleenex on it for a couple of minutes, it stopped bleeding. I know it might be different with a car accident, etc., but wby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Awesome report, Shannon. I am relatively new to this site and since joining have gone back and read many, many of your wonderful, informative posts and am soooo glad you are doing well! We all look forward to the the day you go home and post from there! Best, Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just a follow-up. It took about a month of the baking soda and water paste (continuously except overnight) to get rid of the SCC. While I was using it, the skin around the "volcano" on my chest got a red rash even though I was just putting the paste on the one spot. However, it is all gone but a tiny little FLAT spot. I only put coconut oil on now (as I use it for body lotion anywayby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
I've been reading about the many benefits of coconut oil and was wondering if it absorbs into your body like magnesium oil does?by Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Does anyone know if coconut oil absorbs like magnesium oil? Or do you have to eat it to get the health benefits. I've been using it as body lotion. Louiseby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
RalphL, Just to clarify, this is for Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma, NOT Melanoma. SCC & BCC are not life threatening -- also, if it did not appear to work I would definitely have gone to a doctor.by Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Shannon, I never had to order the Curaderm. The SCC is gone, flat and with just a red spot where the scab was. I used the baking soda and water for about 10 days. Actually a large area around it became red with a rash and the skin looks slightly dry and wrinkled (almost like plastic) like it would with a skin peel (which I guess is what it is!) I will watch for any new developments but it looby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Thank you so much Shannon! I will certainly check it out.by Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
This isn't about afib, but wanted to remind everyone to take advantage of the General Health Forum for other issues as well. I have what I am 99% sure is a squamous cell carcinoma on my chest. Almost went to my primary ($40) who would have referred me to a dermatologist (another $40 just to walk in and then who knows). Anyway I went to the GHF and did some research, found out that baking sby Louise - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Hi Latrogenia, You responded to another post so I assume you are doing well. Let us know!by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agree with latrogenia. We live in a world where every feeling has to be studied, explained and "cured." I believe there are much fewer cases of "depression" than are actually diagnosed as this. Most of the time we feel bad because of the thoughts we are thinking. Of course we all have "moods," and illness and pain can make us cranky, but once someone labels youby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I've been thinking about you, too, Latrogenia. I hope we hear all's good!by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sending positive energy Latrogenia! I don't know if you've had trouble with anesthesia before, but it has changed a lot over the years and you may have no trouble at all! Very, very best to you and we'll all be waiting to hear from you!by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you all for your responses. The chloride tasted so awful I think I was hoping I would hear it was not good to take it! Ha! The practical side of me refuses to throw out something that is perfectly good. I was mixing it in Green Machine but it overpowers it so maybe I will try another juice and also use it as flavoring IN SMALL DOSES! Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking Potassium Gluconate powder and ran out. When I re-ordered I accidentally ordered Potassium Chloride. When I drank it I almost spit it out because it tasted like salt water, although it says it is sodium free. Should I take this until it is gone or just chuck it now and order the gluconate? The Strategy specifies gluconate, so I don't know if taking the chloride is beneby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Gill. I just read the article. What shall we do??? The amount of information we get monthly from the news media about nutrition, supplements, medicine, etc. is truly mind boggling! I am glad I found this site, however; because the suggestions here are specifically for afib and based on personal success stories. In all of the studies mentioned in the article (and all studies) it dby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have to weigh in here and mostly agree with PeggyM. I have all the same to say about Warfarin, not only the inconvenience (although they did prick my finger so I didn't have the vein issue) but it also cost me $35 every time I went in, which could be once a week or month. I am on Pradaxa and don't like that much either; however I believe the eliquis (sp?) has the same issues. I aby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi all, Did anyone listed to Dr. Hao's webinar yesterday? I did but the volume was so low I could barely hear it and gave up after 40 minutes. Honestly, I did not learn much new up to that point that I haven't learned in this forum, but if there were any great questions near the end I'd like to hear. Thank you, Louiseby Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
How much does an ablation cost? I know different insurance would cover different percentages, but if someone had to go in and pay, how much is it? Does anyone know the average? Also, do PE's always push for ablation like cardiologists push drugs? Do they have any alternative treatments or medications that cardiologists do not suggest?by Louise - AFIBBERS FORUM
