It’s 6 months since my successful ablation, and I am still extremely fatigued. My ferretin levels have moved up a couple of points, but is still low, all of the other blood work is good and ekg is good as well. I’ve had an upper endoscopy and am scheduled for colonoscopy next month. They’ve stopped the anticoagulant until after the the procedure. Any idea what can be causing this extreme fatiguby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
It could be, you should get repeat blood work done approximately 3 weeks after the last time and see if it’s improved.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
My iron and Ferretin levels have always been really good. I have been taking Xarelto for 10 months, and my levels are 50% what they were before starting AC. My primary thinks is has to do with the Xarelto and is scheduling me for testing with my GI dr. Should I stop taking the xarelto until my testing is over. My primary doesn't understand why i still need to be on DOAC if my afib is goneby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a PFA at Mayo with Dr deshmukh. Very happy with the results and the excellent care. He was a very thoughtful EP and very communicative before and after the procedure. I think any of the EPs there are probably very good.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
This is very interesting. Excuse me if I am being naive. If the risk of hemorrhagic stroke a greater while on an anticoagulant and the anticoagulant doesn’t prevent a recurring stroke what is the benefit?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had the pharmacogenomics testing done two months ago. My doctor said that beta blockers, especially metoprolol were ones i should not take as well as clonidine. Has anyone else had this testing done, and know how to easily determine what BP meds are ok to use?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
A very interesting point,, it’s ok not to count a point for being female, and if BP is elevated but not enough to be on meds do you still count a point for hbp? Also, what about stroke, if it’s caused by Afib but you’ve had a successful ablation do you still need to add it into the score?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been on Xarelto for 7 months and had a successful ablation in March of this year. I have had increasing fatigue along with dizziness and am thinking this is a result of the blood thinner, and Eliquis made me feel horrible. Is the lariat for left atrial closure a good option, or might their be another DOAC that would have fewer side effects. Is there an option of a lower dose or possibly eby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
So happy this forum is back!!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I completely agree, the ablation was worth it!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I thought this part to be of interest: Building on the work of Lee et al. (2014), we propose that recovery from AF ablation is more like recovery from surgical procedures than it is like recovery from other types of ablation. The experience of prolonged fatigue after AF ablation limits the speed with which patients are able to return to their desired level of physical activity or working fullby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just Xarelto. I did find an interesting study about prolonged fatigue post ablation.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my ablation mid-March and have not had Afib since the procedure. However I am quite fatigued and lightheaded and have not been able to get back to my pre-ablation exercise routine due to this fatigue. Is this part of the blanking period? Also I have noticed when I do activities my heart rate climbs rather quickly, and then drops back to normal quickly. I have spoken with the Dr who did theby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Update: I tested positive for mono. I’m so confused as I always wear a mask, and it’s also kinda unheard of in people 50+by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just Xarelto. I don’t feel any shortness of breath or other symptoms. And I do know that quitting caffeine can cause fatigue, but as I said I thought maybe quitting would at some point improve the symptoms. Maybe it’s just too soon after stopping the caffeine to know?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am still experiencing fatigue 6 weeks after PFA. Have recently (4 days) cut back and eliminated caffeine so not sure if that’s some of it, but still have so much fatigue. I thought maybe cutting back/eliminating caffeine would help, but still feels the same. Is it normal to feel so tired for so long after ablation? Thanks!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Perfect, thank you so much for the clarification of the bump at the insertion site. Anesthesia does have a huge impact on me, so hopefully that will improve in the next few days. Is yoga too much strain on the insertion sites? I’ve been holding off on it, and am not sure how long I have to wait. Thank you very muchby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
My PFA was a week ago and I was wondering how long fatigue lasts and also the femoral puncture site. It’s not red or irritated but I have noticed a bump when I press on the area, is that normal and if so how long before the bump goes away? Thanks!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry, I didn’t not mean rate control I meant antiarrthymic. He did tell me it your only be for 1 month. But I thought I remembered it was a powerful drug. Is multaq a better choice? I’ve had issues with flecainide.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Does anyone know of a good rate control medication that has the fewest side effects? I have many drug sensitivities and had my PFA yesterday. My doc wants to put me on amiiodarone, but I thought someone on this forum had talked about the side effects being bad. Thanks!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Have a PFA scheduled for my persistent Afib.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have met with this EP a couple of times, and I do know he has performed many traditional ablations and has been at this facility for at least 15-20 years. He does have good reviews. So did I specifically choose him a few years ago? No. He was the one who was “assigned” to me, as at the time he was the only one accepting new patients. O recently did ask about other EPs, and was told that they aby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m wondering if this raises a red flag with anyone else. A last minute opportunity came up for a PFA at Mayo. I was supposed to go there for testing Thursday-Friday and have the procedure done on a Monday. They said I do not get to talk with the Dr until the morning of the procedure, but will meet with a CNP 5 days before the procedure. And now they have just changed the dates of my testing tby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you so much for clarifying. I’m not sure what the EPs plan is regarding the use of RF in addition to the PFA, but will find out. So thankful for this forum, and all of the helpful information.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Based on the comment above are you saying that a PFA wouldn’t be successful because of my now persistent Afib, therefore would having the traditional RFA be a better option?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I want to get opinions. I now have persistent Afib, and have the chance to have a PFA at Mayo in two weeks with a Dr I’ve had virtual visits with. Because it’s new technology this Dr would be performing the PFA, but there will be other EPs in the room observing as well as reps from the company ensuring that their equipment is functioning as expected. My Dr has only done a couple PFAs, but has peby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Do you have the specific name of the genetic test that your EP/Dr. ordered? Thank youby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
