That’s very interesting. I will have to look into the testing! Thanks for that info.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes I’m sure. I have paradoxical reactions to a few different meds. Do you know if all beta blockers have the same impact, or if it’s just metoprolol?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was on diltiazem last year, but it made my blood pressure skyrocket like in the 170/115 range. Had a really hard time getting it back to normal.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Another question: I’m trying to keep my HR down (under 100) until my procedure in April. My dr only wants me to take metoprolol, (because of multiple drug allergies) which really saps my energy and has all these other effects. I’m wondering if you know of any natural supplements that may help lower the HR? Does anyone know of how bad it is for the HR to be in the 110 range for long term? My EPby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
My EP said they are not doing a TEE. So it must be one of the other two.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Recently I have gone from paroxysmal Afib to persistent Afib. I am scheduled for an ablation and am wondering if now that the Afib is persistent does the success rate of the ablation decrease? Also, when they use general anesthesia for the ablation are you intubated. Thanks!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
It would be the first of the day I believe at 8 am. It would not be an overnight stay.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Also, I’m in the process of scheduling an ablation, and I’m just wondering if it’s better to schedule for beginning of a week like a Monday or end of week like Thursday. I’m not sure if it matters, but thought I would see if anyone has any knowledge of this. Thanksby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’m not sure the reasoning, but as of today they don’t want me taking any anti arrhythmics until after I see my EP next week. Maybe I will have an answer at that time that I can share.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
The metoprolol saps my energy as well, in addition to leaving me lightheaded etc.., perhaps I can find a good alternative med Dr. I will definitely try the Hawthorne berry, I actually did have that supplement a few years ago, will definitely try that again. Regarding age I am a few years younger than you, but for some reason my EP said the PIP was no longer an option because of my age and chadsvby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks so much for the information. I will continue on with metoprolol and look into supplements. What type of magnesium did you add: citrate, taurinate, etc? I’ve been hesitant to try flecainide, as my dr has said I can not use it as a pip, due to my age. That it’s recommended to stay on it, but that there is a risk of a serious arrhythmia, etc. Also wondering why my resting heart rate is hiby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I always get the epi free shot as well. It’s true it doesn’t last as long, but at least it’s not a big deal just to get repeated injections of it until the procedure if over.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
After 14 days of Afib, I went in for a cardioversion. After 1 shock I was back in sinus rhythm. 2 days later I went for a walk, and am now back in Afib. Before the 14 day Afib episode the Afib was only lasting 24 hours. I am waiting to schedule an ablation. Has anyone else gone back into Afib so soon after cardioversion? Is this indicative of potential success of an ablation? Thanks!by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for all of the information. For some reason I was under the impression that the mini maze was performed all over the country, now I see it’s not. I am looking at my options that are local. Does anyone have info on traditional ablation vs pulses field ablation? It appears the success rate is a bit better with the PFA, and there is less risk of damage to the esophagus and phrenic nervesby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am curious if anyone has information on how these two procedures compare. I saw a video from the doctor that created the atriclip used in the mini maze and he was suggesting that during the catheter ablation, when they are placing the catheter that stuff breaks off in the blood vessels and goes to your brain, I believe they term for this was hits? They talked about transcranial doppler imagiby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Eliquis was my first choice, but I had even worse side effects. I am very sensitive to medications unfortunately. I will see if my EP will prescribe Pradaxa. Very true we all react differently to these drugs.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you so much for the input. I will definitely ask my EP about Pradaxa.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had major side effects after being on Eliquis and then Xarelto. Both of these caused extreme fatigue and sore throat. Has anyone else had this happen or knows of an anticoagulant with fewer side effects? Thank youby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the link, it was very informative. I am also intrigued by the Apple Watch trial. Someday maybe they’ll come up with a DOAC and statin that are better tolerated by those of us who are sensitive.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had no idea the risk of stroke existed for years after a successful ablation. There are always new insights and information to be learned. I had the same concern about statins as they also put me on them in the hospital, even though my cholesterol level is good. Dr. Wants me to continue, but I also know statins are not good. Does anyone have any insight on statins?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
The neuro said stroke after looking at the MRI. But that’s what I thought too, but neuro said there were 2 events a week apart. I wonder if I can get them to update my records? Also, switched to Xarelto and am curious if it’s as good as Eliquis. I’ve had Afib for a week now, never had it this long and am curious if the different blood thinner has anything to do with the prolonged Afib.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was very fortunate. I had an issue pronouncing the end of some words this lasted for about 2 mins, then things were back to normal.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you so much for the information, the neuro was very discouraging. Do you know why one has to wait so long before an ablation after a stroke? Do you have any experience with statins?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I’ve had paroxysmal Afib for about 10 years. I was taking Eliquis only when I had Afib. Recently I had a stroke apparently caused by afib, even though I didn’t have Afib when it happened. I am very fortunate to not have any lasting effects from the stroke, and am now on a blood thinner all the time. They also added a statin because even though my cholesterol is actually pretty good it was addedby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned I actually don’t know how many he has done that was just me guessing, but I will try and figure that out. I asked him the 12 questions that were in this book, “The Afib cure.” When the question about how many procedures came up I said I’m sure you’ve done hundreds of these, then went in to the next question. But I will try and get a more definitive answer.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tbh I am only guessing at how many he has done, but he has been doing this for over 30 years, so it could very well be thousands. Is there any way of finding out?by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have an ablation scheduled for early December, and I am hoping to get some information from others who’ve had the procedure. I’ve had paroxysmal Afib for approximately 7 years, and is now becoming more frequent. I have the option of having it done at Mayo, but they’re booking into April. My EP has performed this procedure hundreds of times and can do it sooner. Can anyone tell me if you have tby Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for all the information. I converted 30 mins after taking diltiazem on day 5 of afib. I will definitely talk to my dr about Propafenone.by Dini - AFIBBERS FORUM
