Newbie, I have taken Eloquis with Flecainide and have not noticed any problems with sun exposure, might want to switchby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Flecainide might be a better choice than Multaq. AB be careful about taking Potassium....can be dangrous and I would not have it as part of the trio unless you were closely monitoring your Potassium levelsby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mac, sorry to hear about your afib after ablation, but they should have had you on a rhythm control drug like Flec for at least 8 weeks, 100mg. 2x a day and a beta blocker as well. I would not get another ablation with that hospitalby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ablation may be the answer as you are getting more prone with time and the triggers are increasing....you can second guess yourself as to the reasona....and it will get quite frustrating.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
You might try Papaya tabs to help with the reflux issueby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Mag Glycinate, retire from bodybuilding and limit or eliminate the alcohol and stay away from MSG and you might not need the medsby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nice to hear your success!!, don't worry about a few missed beatsby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jim, are you taking your meds with food? I had the same problem after my recent ablation and the food helped the problem. You could also try a Lasic pill with food to help get rid of that heavy feeling in your chest....could be too much fluid....just my opinion for what its worth Tomby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Elizabeth, for sleep issues I take a natural product called Alteril, active ingredients are Melatonin and L-Tyyptophan. I get it from Walmart, one cap works well for me....I previously had Afib issues with Benedryl. Tom Cby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Lynn, I just went to my local CVS pharmacy and they did the paperwork for me, my cost went from $382 a month to $10. When I went to Walmart for my first prescription they told me I could not use any discount cards I had ( I had 2 others from various discount programs) and I would have to use my regular commercial health insurance. they never mentioned about the Eloquis card.... In fact wby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
I remember it well, it was a warm afternoon in August back in 2009, it was my first colonoscopy and I thought it was just routine, I woke up in the recovery room and started the first day of my Afib career.....and the rest is history, I have heard from a cardiologist and close friend that it is common for Afib to be caused from the colonoscopy prep and the anasthesia, so Wolfpack and George.... yby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, hope for the best for your wife, she could not find a better partner to help her through an episode. Tomby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just taking Magnesiuim on a regular basis is not enough, until you max out the amount you are taking then back off a bit you won't get the full benefit to get rid of the ectopics, and help your ablation last. I use Magnesium Glycinate. Beta Blockers give me lots of missed beats, keep in mind that the BB along with the stress of missed beats probably sapped a good amount of your Magby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wolfpack, I understand there is a reason to take a beta blocker prior to using the PIP, however do you take a smaller maintenance dose without a beta blocker and does that work well for you?by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Shannon and Travis for all you have done, having this group of people that understand the Afib situation is an invaluable source.....knowledge gives me peace of mind and helps calm my heart. Tomby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for the information , actually I stopped taking it a couple of years ago....but I will try a smaller dose, and see how that works, that answers Suzy's question as well. Tomby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Travis, many things could be causing the odd heartbeats, and diet is a major one. MSG in junk food comes to mind, but keep in mind sometimes it is the combination of triggers that brings on problems, your ablation is keeping you out of Afib and that is a plus. taking the right Magnesium and eliminating possible triggers might calm your heart.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
CoQ10 may be the culprit, I had increased missed beats as well while taking it, maybe a smaller dose would help.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Jackie, just trying to take the guess work out of what we consume.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone here experienced any problems drinking grape juice? I know that red wine is a huge trigger for an episode, other than alcohol content, is there anything else in just plain juice that would bring on afib?by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Jackie for that info. Mike, I have had success with Solaray Magnesium Glycinate its listed as 400 mg (but that is really 4- 100 mg capsules, I get it for around $10 to $12 for 120 through whoever has the best deal at any given time. I take 2 in the morning , one at lunch and 2 more at bedtime, about 500mg a day total, keep in mind I have been using Mag for years, and that keeps my heby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Has anyone heard that having a Heart Cath procedure might increase the risk for Afib later in life? Heard this but have no evidence. I did have a Heart Cath a few years before my first Afib incident.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ralph, the one I have is no longer made, however if you search"Potassium Meters", I am sure you will find one.Keep in mind they are agricultural devices...but they work just fine. For the conversion chart I would search out the "Periodic Paralysis" website...they used to have it posted there...or search this site for Cardymeter and you may find links there.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
It just seems to me that almost all of the Mag you see is oxide, which happens to be the cheapest cost to produce...and that is what is hyped with this product....why wouldn't Dr. Dean's use the Glycinate form...known to be the most effective? Sounds like a sales pitch to me.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sam, no doubt the antibiotics probably wasted your mag stores and caused the afib...even though you were on Flec....which only works for so long. An ablation is not a magic pill but it really increases your ability to resist afib. You still have to watch the triggers, especially alcohol, and supplement with mag to make the ablation last. Good Luck Tom Cby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am glad I still have my old blue Cardymeter...and an extra sensor....sometimes the newer models are a pain to operate.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Rick, I used to take the Bluebonnet Mag Glycinate, then they got cheap and added the oxide. Then I started using Dr. Best, the hard tablets...and I ended up going into afib...after a few weeks of using it, so now I switched to Solaray Mag Glycinate, they list it as 400mg. on the bottle, but that is the serving size, each capsule is 100 mg. I am taking 6 caps or 600 mg. a day and it has been worby TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jim, glad to hear that all went well....and its good to know there is a good EP in South Florida....hope to spend my winters there when I retire.by TomC - AFIBBERS FORUM
