Wow Gill! You are my new hero. I'm coming up on 3 years NSR and I thought that was a lot. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Way to go Ken! I'm glad it went well for you and I hope you have continued NSR. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken, my resting heart rate went from the 50's to the 70's after ablation. It took over a year to get back to where it was. I think that is pretty common and doesn't have a negative effect. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ken, that's quite a story. I think you are finally on the right track with your ablation appointment with Dr. Natale. Good luck and may the force be with you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
David, glad to hear you are doing well after your ablation. Unfortunately, as Jackie said, it is fairly common at teaching hospitals that although ablations are supervised by the head EP, they are often performed by a student in training. I don't know for sure, but I think that was done in my case also. However, I have been fortunate in that my PVI was a one and done with minimal problemsby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife Magdalena. We will miss your input. We are lucky to have Jackie and George as backups. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
David, best of luck on your ablation. I'm glad you are finally taking the plunge. Here's hoping it's a one and done for you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's great news Judianne. Hopefully, it will be one and done for you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news Afjun! Hope this puts away the beast for good. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's really inspiring Ken! I am also 69 and have been AFIB free since my ablation in 2012. Looks like I will have to get off my butt and start backpacking again. Congratulations on your healthy lifestyle. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Best of luck on your upcoming ablation portofcall39! I had an ablation 2.5 years ago and have been in NSR since. Best decision I ever made. Let us know how it went when you can. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy, are you taking a rate control medication? If so, it's probably keeping your pulse readings lower while in AFIB. Just a thought, without knowing what medications you are on. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Doreen, I had an ablation 2.5 years ago after having paroxysmal AFIB for about one year. I was on diltiazem and propafenone for a while without success. As the episodes became more frequent, I decided on an ablation. I went with Dr. Ellenbogen at the VCU medical center in Richmond, VA. Like Deluge, I am now off of all heart medications. However, I still do the strategy to hedge my bets. Jby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting reading Lesley. Sounds like you got the full treatment. Hopefully this ablation will be the charm. Not heard of wrapping your legs and lying on your back for 24 hours before. That must have been excruciating. I guess they were being extra careful to make sure the bleeding had stopped. I hope you got the beast this time and can put it behind you. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great news Ralph! I'm surprised your heart rate returned to normal so quickly after your ablation. My resting heart rate was also in the lower 50's, but after my ablation it took almost a year to come down from the 70's. Take it easy for a while and let your heart heal before doing anything too strenuous. Best of luck. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Duke, I was back to swimming laps 3 days after my ablation, but I just had a basic PVI. It depends on your job and how extensive your ablation is. If you have a desk job, you could possibly go back to work pretty quick. If you have a physical job, I would say not. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Glad to hear the Cipro worked for you Smackman! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
David, the trial seems like a great opportunity. I would go for it. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Welcome back Jackie! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lynn, under the new CHADS2-VASc scoring system for stroke risk, you would have one point for being female. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wonderful news John! Glad to hear everything went well. Best wishes on continued NSR. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wonderful news Shannon! Hopefully, this one will be a keeper and she will live out the rest of her life in NSR. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sally, great news! Please keep in touch. Hope everything continues to go well. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
We're with you Jackie! Hope you get some rest from the beast. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Johnny, I agree, but insurance companies may not. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Interesting Steve. I took Rhythmol 3 times a day before my ablation. It didn't stop my episodes either, but I also had weight gain. I told my EP about it, but he dismissed it. It looks like there are at least 2 of us with that side effect. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Judianne, half the battle for an ablation is getting a Dr. that you are comfortable with. I commend you for sticking to your guns. I know it will go well for you now that you don't have the additional worry of getting an unknown. Best of luck on your ablation and may the force be with you! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lat, you've joined the one and done club. Congratulations! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Actually, I developed GERD after AFIB. Never had it before my ablation. I think that when they did my RF pulmonary vein isolation, they may have burned a little too close to my esophagus. They gave me nexium a week before and 3 weeks after the ablation, but it didn't help. It took a year for the GERD to finally go away. I'm sure the pradaxa didn't help my stomach either.
