Feel good story justfibbing. Hope your luck holds and you stay in NSR forever. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Great story Chuck! Thanks for sharing. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Chukker, glad to hear that it went well. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Go for it Chukker and may the force be with you! Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow Neroli! I thought I had problems with GERD post ablation. I hope you get to the bottom of this and get your life back together. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's great news Gianfranco! It wasn't as hard as you thought it would be, was it? That was my take on the whole thing. Keep up the good heartbeats. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Best of luck Gianfranco! I know you will do well with Dr. Pinski. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Jackie! I just started on the super enzymes you suggested. Most of my meals have protein and fat, so they should help me digest my food better. I eat way too fast, so I am trying to slow down and chew more. I am trying to cut out caffeine and milk also. My wife won't cook without cheese, so I can't cut all dairy. Also, read an article on TODAY.com by Leo Galland, M.D. (a leby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, what would we do without you? I have had GERD for 9 months since my ablation on April 4th. Your information is much appreciated. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
That's great news Steve! Sounds like it was worth the trip to get the best. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
afhound, congratulations on your ablation! My heart rate went up with the ablation also. Went from 50's to the 80's, now after 6 months in the 70's. Some say that is a sign that the ablation is a success. Who knows? It's worked for me so far. Hope you have continued NSR. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow Shannon! That was quite a post. I'm really impressed with your knowledge of the subject matter. You must have done a lot of research on ablation techniques. I thought I did a lot of research before my ablation, but obviously I only skimmed the surface. I have to agree with you. I think it is a little early to demand a FIRM ablation. When I had my RF ablation, they were singing theby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Chukker, I am sure you will get some more tests before your ablation, but it will be much closer to February 2013. I had an ablation in April and in mid March I had a Cardiac MRI and then a TEE on the morning of the ablation to check for blood clots. Other then that, your previous records from your EKG and Stress Test should suffice. You will probably be getting a letter in the mail from the sby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Diane, I was under general anesthesia when I had my ablation. Normally you have a choice, either conscious or general anesthesia. I imagine if you have a preference, you could plead your case to your EP. I never really thought about it, but after the fact, I probably would have chosen conscious, that way if the burning got too hot, I could at least voice my displeasure. Just kidding! Gianfranco, my PVI RF Ablation lasted about 4 hours. After the pulmonary veins are zapped, they initiated AFIB to see if there were any other problem areas. There were not. Four hours is about average for PVI,I was told. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had some hematoma and bruising at the groin insertion sites after ablation, but went away after about a week. Did not experience any joint pain or bruising other than the insertion sites. Sounds like you must have done more bleeding than I did. Hopefully it will clear up soon. Did you at least get rid of the AFIB? Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Shannon, that is good news! Thanks for posting the information. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol, other than restrict food or beverages that irritate my esophagus, not much. I have tried Nexium, Zantac, Tums and chewing gum to try to reduce the acid. Nexium works the best for me, but is not that long lasting. If it does not go away soon, I will visit a gastroenterologist and have some tests taken, although I am tested out right now. I don't really want to have a camera stuck doby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carol, I do think that my ablation probably caused my acid reflux, since I never had it prior to the ablation. However, I am just happy to be AFIB free. My EP seemed to think it was caused by the Pradaxa, but I had been taking it for over 3 months prior to the ablation without problem. I have found that Nexium controls my heartburn, but don't want to take it long term because of it'sby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
My EP prescribed Nexium 1 week before and 2 weeks after ablation. I think McHale is right, to help prevent Esophageal injury after RF ablation. In my case it didn't work. I had to get a new prescription after mine ran out, because I was still experiencing heartburn/acid reflux. I am now over 5 months post ablation and have still not been able to wean off Nexium, because of continued heartby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow McHale, that's a bummer! Hope you dodged the bullet and are okay. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, my heart rate is up by 30 bpm at 4 months post ablation. You have a long way to go before you start worrying about it. Jimby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, glad to hear that your heartburn went away. I had my ablation at the VCU medical center in Richmond, Virginia. It's common for people who have had an ablation to worry about going back into AFIB. I will not feel cured until a lot longer time passes. There are people who relapse after years in NSR. You never know, but you just have to learn to put it on the back burner and go on witby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tom, I had an RF ablation in April. My EP had me on Nexium a week before and 3 weeks after the ablation. I had never had heartburn/acid reflux before the ablation. I had to renew my prescription when it ran out because the heartburn persisted. I ended up developing GERD symptoms. I am coming up on 5 months post ablation and am just now weaning myself off of Nexium. I have been in NSR sinceby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congratulations on your ablation! I had a successful RF ablation in April and went off all medications except baby aspirin after 3 months. I was on pradaxa, rather than warfarin. I did not want to have the regular checkups that warfarin required. I was getting some heartburn/acid reflux that my EP attributed to pradaxa, so he switched me to aspirin after the 3 month waiting period. How longby mailman52 - AFIBBERS FORUM
