It’s another support forum. Like this one but a little different.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, there a discussion on anxiety and Afib over in My Afib Experience. What you describe sounds very common. Some people start meditation and some do other things. I just hope I have enough knowledge about Afib that I know if I do have an episode it won’t kill me. You have to find ways to relax. Good Luck!by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just FYI, I went ahead and had the balloon cryoablation and then an RF touch up of a flutter circuit that had not appeared on any other tests or during my first ablation. I’m doing ok. Still a bit tired though.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Moonshadow, I too had my first Afib ablation yesterday actually. I have had a flutter ablation. I had a cryoablation and a touch up of the flutter line. I am feeling slow and mild chest pain but soreness everywhere and lightheadedness. I assume everyday will get better just like with you. I had a major bleed out the groin incisions because I suddenly coughed about an hour after waking up. Oopby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had cardiac echo followed later by nuclear stress test and then cardiac mri right before Afib ablation next week. The others were after my flutter ablation. All turned out perfect.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks everybody for responses. Yes I am willing to try the pill in the pocket approach. Many EPs are not fans of that but mine actually mentioned it after I was told by his nurse he rarely authorized that. But then we started talking about another ablation and at that time I was having more frequent Afib. So I think I’ll call the office and ask what they recommend at this point. I know I’m likeby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Do you have a cardiologist or EP? If not maybe see an EP. The earlier you have an ablation the greater your chances of success. I never went to the ER with flutter or Afib. I just trusted they would stop on their own. And I was on eliquis of course for stroke prevention. Good luckby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had episodes exactly 4 weeks apart and one two weeks later and then all quiet. They were between 12 and 16 hours long. I have a loop recorder implant that tracked this. They stopped on their own I didn’t go to the ER or anything and don’t want to be on any anti arrhythmic drugs yet. I’m at Ohio state university, a high volume center, and cannot change EPs and there is no need to anyway. I wasby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am scheduled for Afib cryoablation in early April. I had a successful flutter ablation in July but then started with Afib episodes six months later. I have had three very long Afib episodes but now my heart has been quiet for over two months. I’m on eliquis and bystolic and am 60 years old. I have no other heart conditions. My question is should I wait or is this the time to do it? Before I havby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Your best chance at being Afib free is an ablation at a high volume medical center. The longer you wait the worse afib usually gets. I had an ablation for atrial flutter and six months later got my first Afib episode. I did not hesitate to schedule another ablation for March. They arent that scary and have an excellent safety rate. You are under anesthesia and spend one night in the hospital. Gooby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the above info. Excellent and I learned a lot just reading it. And I'm so happy for you! Let's hope this last ablation works for you.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I would like to know also. I'm having palpitations tonight and last night. No rapid pulse though. I'm 2 months out from a flutter ablation. My guess is it's nothing to worry about but I don't know. Good luck!by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
There are many qualified EPs out there. It doesnt have to be Natale. I don't even have a cardiologist just an EP. Keep trying.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, did you ask your doctor? I would think it would be perfectly fine if it lessens anxiety. Good luck!by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, so what did you mean by you had to be shocked 3 times? And why didn't your doctor do an ablation? I hope you get some more clarity on that. Do you take magnesium? Cindyby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Michael, Hope you are feeling more normal by now. I had high heart rate for around a week and I have had one mixed flutter/afib episode two days after the ablation and nothing since except for some flutter lasting no more than a few seconds. I go off the Bystolic and Eliquis in 2 days and I am a bit nervous about that. Hang in there!by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, I am feeling great now. So now we wait to see if Afib appears. I could swear the doctor said it would show up very soon if that's what's going to happen. Thanks for the info!by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, My ablation was for flutter not afib so I wasn't supposed to have to spend the night. I am feeling better today but had a flutter episode last night. I was very demoralized but realize its not unusual in the first few days. Let's hope it doesn't happen again. It was interesting for me to hear you also had a flutter episode after ablation. I'm just so tired of it all. My aby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi, Ive been reading the Strategy and other articles in the resources and nowhere does it say how much magnesium to start with. And since i am on a beta blocker, Bystolic, should I add potassium? I should be off both Eliquis and Bystolic in 4 weeks if all goes well. Thanks, Cindyby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
So I had my first ablation on Tuesday July11. I kept having 14 hour episodes while on the Bystolic so we went ahead and did it. It was a rough experience because I kept waking up with intense searing pain from shoulder blade to shoulder blade when they did the burns. I was under conscious sedation and was told I was difficult to keep sedated. I had to spend the night in the hospital and had an ecby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I downloaded coupons with the help of CVS pharmacist and got a 30 day supply for 10 dollars. Nice! It was over 100 with my insurance.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm new at all this but isn't baby aspirin with a Zantac or something for your stomach vastly preferable to Eliquis? I'm on Eliquis also and looking forward to stopping it even if it's with aspirin for a period of time.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Shannon, I saw the first version of your response also. I am very proactive and that is why I'm not waiting on this and I am going to ask about a preventative Afib ablation. I don't expect success but I can put it out there. I saw my dad have nothing but problems back in the early 2000s. He died of a spontaneous brain bleed and his INR was perfect, hence I want off the blood tby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hang in there Anne. I too was very afraid of blood thinners but I had to start using them and I'm ok. I use Eliquis. From what I have seen on here the ablations all went well. If it's for Afib you are under anesthesia anyway. You really should be on a rhythm control drug and a blood thinner for now. I sure hope your episode has ended.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your response. Yes, I will be awake. The ablation is for flutter, not afib. And yes, OSU is a teaching hospital but the doctor doing the procedure is head of the EP department and he will be doing the procedure. While I am a bit freaked out by the procedure I am looking forward to it to get off the drugs which are having side effects. However, the Bystolic is working, I have not had aby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes that has happened to me. Nearly always after alcohol but a few times not. So I don't drink anymore. But so far I have flutter they say. I try and stop it with the maneuvers they teach you. Good luckby CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks! I am a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries but this ablation scares me. And you are awake. I assume it wasn't a bad experience for you.by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am a 59 year old female recently dx atrial flutter with some afib. I have the reveal Linq implant. I have an ablation scheduled in 3 weeks at Ohio State University. I'm on Eliquis and Bystolic. I hate Bystolic. I need to get off these drugs. I am a former competitive swimmer and have recently read an article about the higher frequency of afib/flutter in swimmers. Any thoughts or advice?by CindyH - AFIBBERS FORUM
