Dr. Hao, who works with Dr. Hongo, was very accepting of my own health peculiarities. He also knows about this site, as I discussed that supplement list with him many times. In fact, it was their office who referred me here.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lactium is very, very gentle. It might work for a short while, but Seriphos can go paradoxical. I found a quarter-capsule worked for about 2 weeks, after that, no help.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have a sleep disorder (caused by Paxil withdrawal syndrome) and have used melatonin for years to trigger sleep, its proper application. I like Source Naturals sublingual 1mg tablets, I cut them up according to how much I want to take. Studies show as little as .25mg melatonin is effective. Take at nightfall and turn out or at least dim all lights. The darker the better -- installing blackouby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you for that lovely update! And many more years of NSR to you.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
My paroxysmal afib episodes got worse, too, and pretty quickly, after about 3 years of monthly episodes. That is the nature of afib. Hot spots in the heart can proliferate. So far, I am quite satisfied with my ablation at CPMC by Steven Hao. I wish I had done it sooner. The sooner they can ablate the hot spots, the better, to catch them when they're fewer and easier to identify.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Hans. Enjoy your retirement. You've made an excellent choice in Shannon.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

Randy, I gradually added supplements back in after my ablation. About 4 months out, I tried to ramp up on my CoQ10 again. I had been taking 100mg. I took 30mg with lunch. That evening, I felt an odd sensation in my gut (CoQ10 has about a 6-hour loading time) and later had 3 runs of fast beats, each about 10 seconds long between about midnight and 3 a.m. Those were the most serious blips I hadby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
rob50, I also had problems with CoQ10 -- but after my ablation. From my experience with dysautonomia, the initial cause (such as an adverse drug reaction or illness) can be transitory, but the autonomic symptoms might continue or proliferate, as one domino knocks another over. Symptoms tend to wax and wane as the nervous system attempts to right itself and fluctuates in vulnerability. That&by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

I researched fish oil and blood thinning, and could not find any convincing evidence this is a danger. Fish oil may not be any more of a blood thinner than, say, a glass of water. My EP didn't know anything about Xarelto-supplement interactions. I asked him about grapefruit and he had to look it up. Yes, grapefruit (a potent inhibitor of the cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 enzyme) can affect Xaby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteThe threonate form is beneficial to brain health because it crosses the BBB easier. Jackie, I question whether this is so. Please read the citations I posted above. This statement: We found that elevation of brain magnesium, by a novel magnesium compound , enhances synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus and learning and memory in rats. does not say mag threonate is exceptionalby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM

From the literature I read, mag L-threonate is not superior to any other type of mag in crossing the blood-brain barrier.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
The ability to cross the blood-brain barrier is not limited to magnesium l-threonate. How else could the level of magnesium be elevated in the brain as compared to blood? QuoteSeveral studies show that magnesium does cross the blood–brain barrier, in both animals and in humans.1 Brain magnesium concentrations are regulated by active blood–brain barrier transport.2,3 Cerebrospinal fluid magneby Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks, everyone. Forgot to mention, Dr. Hao took me off Xarelto and told me to take a 325mg aspirin daily. (My CHADS2 score is 1 -- because I'm female. No other risk factors.) No problems going off Xarelto, except I became unusually constipated. Maybe it has an effect on the bowels? Consequently, I've been able to take more magnesium! Hello, all -- I had my 5-month follow-up appointment with Dr. Hao recently. I had had an ablation on June 27. The procedure was uneventful. Dr. Hao isolated my pulmonary veins and did a "little work on the back wall" of the left atrium. Cardio-wise, I recovered well from the procedure. (However, it took me months to recover from pre-existing hyponatremia -- caused, I believe,by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
I suggest you find the top cardiac electrophysiologists in your area, verify they take Medicaid, and make an appointment for evaluation ASAP. It seems that in San Francisco, a very expensive town, the top people at CPMC take Medicaid, including Dr. Natale. I would assume that since they have to practice in a hospital, almost all EPs do.by Iatrogenia - AFIBBERS FORUM
