Putting a foreign object into our bodies can sometimes cause problems. I have a pacemaker put in about 20 years ago and on my last 2 echos it shows that I have severe tricuspid regurgatation, this has been caused by one of the pacemaker leads that was placed in the Ventricular. There was a person on this site that had the Watchman placed and it did leak which caused a stroke. The stroke was miby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: in the first of the sites that Susan posted the URLs for they are saying that after having an ablation there were symptoms of brain infarcts, did the ablation caused them? In your posting the site is saying that AF causes brain infarcts, so what is right? I know a few people that have had permanent AF for many years and they are normal.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
What does this mean: taken from Susans first site? A cautionary word is that AF patients may experience symptomatic as well as silent ischemic brain infarcts during AF ablation which may occur spontaneously; events such as these may contribute to cognitive decline.1, 2 Apparently, silent cerebral infarcts in stroke-free AF patients may not be silent after all. Eliminating them must be the nextby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Potassium is used in lethal injections. Before you take potassium supplements you should get your levels checked, my levels are always close to the high side of the range, now maybe, my kidneys aren't as good as they should be, but it is a good idea to know what your levels are. I take magnesium but only a teaspoon of mag. pwd. in a cup of water, once a day, that is about all I can tolerby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

Six months ago i had dental cleaning plus a little work done on a chipped tooth, I didn't get any antibiotics for the work. In a week I am to get dental cleaning again (every 6 months) and nothing is said about an antibiotic, I am in permanent AF. After the previous cleaning i had no problems.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I don't take taurine vit. i believe i get most of it from my food. i am not into taking supplements as I once was, i eat beef, shrimp and other seafood. A lot of people rely on supplements more than eating good food, they think if they are taking supplements they don't have to be eating everything that they should. I remember trying taurine some years ago and i got Aura migraines fby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
i have read posts such as yours whereby after an ablation, people seem to get more Pacs. There are burns to the heart and probably it will take time to heal, then your pacs could subside.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie; There is another topic on this by P.C./Susan P.C.s respond to Susan was this: PC, MD [ PM ] Re: Ca:Mg: Implications beyond AF If on an anti platelet type blood thinner, no problem. If on a vitamin K antagonist (VKA), as was Susan, K2 blocks the VKA and vice versa.by Elizabeth - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
Anneh and Joe: Thanks for that about Hawthorne berries, my Holistic doc. did recommend it to me but I read that it might increase bleeding if on a blood thinner. i take Xerato so i am going to try Hawthorne berries.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi; I have had AF for about 22 years, i had a few episodes a year then it went into every few months and then a couple times a month until about a year and a half ago i went into permanent AF. Since i have been in permanent AF i take a blood thinner, i didnt take one during the times when i got AF ocassionaly, i guess i was very lucky with not taking a blood thinner during my AF career. Susan: There is nickel and Titanium in the makeup of the Watchman. Check out Georges post and click on site which is underlined.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
So because of the Watchman he no longer is on a blood thinner? I would think because he was in persistent AF that he probably was on a blood thinner.. A little over a year ago I had asked my EP about a Watchman and he said i wasn't eligible for one, i was in persistent AB at the time and didn't want to be taking a blood thinner forever. I took the quiz on that site you gave and iby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
George: What would be the purpose of your friend getting a Watchman, I assume he is on a blood thinner and would still be on a blood thinner. I am surprised that his ins. would pay for the Watchman.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Flutter does happen quite often after an ablation for AF.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have never had flutter, I had paraoxymal for 20 years, no flutter, afib and always converted on my own. I am in permanent AF now but no flutter. I have read that after an ablation flutter rears its head, i have never had an ablation so is that why i never had flutter?by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey has always said that he has had a watchman but he is still on a blood thinner. I don't know about others on this board that have had a watchman if they are also on a blood thinner, it is said to take aspirin if you have a watchman.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Susan D. a regular poster on this site has written that you can get Xarelto a lot cheaper at the Israel Pharm.com , I did and also got 50.00 off on my order. i paid $157.00 for 84 tabs. i will keep going through that pharmacy for my Xarelto, drugs are way too expensive in this country, they are going nuts.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM

I know a few people who are way overweight, they don't have AF, I am slim and do all of my yard work, garden, housework, everything and I am now in permanent AF. Susan has been having a hard time of it, i do know of someone else that had an ablation in Texas and had to have a pacemaker. I understand that there are more that have had success than failures but the point is there have been failures. I think each time a person has some medical proceedure there can be some problems that can occur. I had to have a pacemaker because when my heartrate went bacby Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Perhaps Susan has a pacer that is set at a level, mine is set at 50, my heart rate won't drop below 50, so she won't have that problem.by Elizabeth - AFIBBERS FORUM
Joywin: I know it's illogical, but strangely, since my ablation, I have become more anxious, and keep waiting for AF or Tachy to kick in again. I've got the very best EP and so far so good, so why do I worry? Is that what most here have "non-valvular afib"? I guess I never heard it explained this way, I was perioxymal for about 20 years, now I am in permanent AF and I do have a leaking valve so is that what is causing my permanent AF?
