Magnesium is vital to the proper function of all three types of muscle. The three most prominent symptoms of magnesium deficiency (80+% of the population) are 1) muscle cramps (skeletal muscle) 2) ectopics and arrhythmias (cardiac muscle) 3) constipation (smooth muscle) I bet you have fasciculations (muscle twitching) too. And these are all exacerbated by your Vitamin D intake. š hit me!by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM
Aloha George Your input and broad based background is much appreciated. This BB is lucky to have such abundant evidence of your fatherly devotion (HFD)! TAF That's an interesting question. Prior to COVID and recognition of the need for D I was only taking 2000 IU of D3 with a 25 (OH)D level of 78ng/ml. Since upping it to 5000 my bowel tolerance for Mg has increased and PAC "awareness" has decreased. So maybe your suggestion is a good one and my experience supports it.by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi smackman, I continue to ponder your wifeās ectopic/vitamin D conundrum. Activation of vitamin D in the body requires magnesium and thereby less is available for other needs. If your wife is not supplementing with adequate magnesium during this acute increase in vitamin D intake, she might be getting the ectopics from low potassium. George, thanks for the ping. Aloha TAF I am not aware of any significant direct effect of calcium intake on the ANS. When I struggled with VMAF, it was all about magnesium, potassium, and hydration. But I think my main problem was the defective substrate. IMHO FWIW the calcium to magnesium ratio is very important. They compete with each other like sodium and potassium or lysine and arginine.by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM
COVID FEAR II I know youāre all sick and tired of hearing about vitamin D, but I canāt tell you how many people are just soooo afraid, especially as we face the second wave. I think the latter is virtually guaranteed due to the quarantine induced decrease in sun exposure (less vitamin D) and physical activity (more weight). Sooo many are D deficient. And the COVID is not the least of your worrby PC, MD - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM

For many years I toured the local high schools and intermediate schools spreading the gospel of a healthy lifestyle - no smoking, plenty of exercise, and good nutrition. This I did even though it threatened my livelihood as a pathologist (ha ha). I had several buckets of human hearts, lungs, brains,.. that functioned as props and really got their attention. Aloha Anti, I have certainly heard of an excess of adrenal hormones causing adrenergic LAF. Hans Larson, the creator of this website, suffered from this (his moniker was the uninvited guest) and wrote extensively about it. You should look at what Jackie has written on LAF and the gut connection, where she talks about adrenal insufficiency. Dr Lam, with whom Iāve exchanged emails, has writby PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM
šš¤š½ Thank you Jackie The Covid fear out there is incredible, itās unbelievable. I can understand wearing a mask when you wonāt be allowed in the store otherwise. But wearing when one alone in the car or while walking outside in a gentle breeze is akin to a guy wearing a condom when sleeping alone to prevent impregnation. Aloha, I posted these two graphs in the General Forum under COVID and Vitamin D, but it applies to LAF too. The below charts are from this article. (June 15, 2020)by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM

Aloha mwcf, Thank you for your encouraging post. The benefits of D cannot be overstated. The list of maladies it addresses is long (the COVID, the flu, insulin resistance, Alzheimers, ..., basically any inflammatory process). And so many of us are deficient. I take 4000 to 5000 once a day with a meal, preferably with some fatty component. To expand on my original post and your input:by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you George. Smackman, thank you for your post. My comment on toxicity came from the following graph But it looks like your wifeās problem might be more allergic in nature, as this is not a symptom of toxicity. The appearance of the ectopics in the 12th week is rather curious. Perhaps it was a different preparation. Vitamins A,D,E,K are all fat soluble and do accumulate in cells.by PC, MD - AFIBBERS FORUM

Aloha Anti, If you're not short of breath at 92, the reading is artifactual. Furthermore, spO2 decreases with age and a reading of 95 is OK Mine jumped around a bit too initially. George has plenty of great advice. I might add that DIC is caused by the secondary bacterial infection that often follows in the wake of the COVID pneumonia. That D would be integral in a longevity practice makes perfect sense. D technically is not even a vitamin (something we take to address a dietary deficiency) but a hormone (requires sunlight) that inhibits renin that produces angiotensin II. Hi TAF, Iām no expert on what's available out there with respect to Covid antibody tests.
