Scott - I've been taking flecanide for 3 years. First 50 mg. twice a day and then when it became ineffective, the dose was raised to 100 mg. a day. I've tried to wean off twice and failed to stay in NSR both times. I was told that it does become ineffective with time and the only option was to increase dosage. I'm not feeling as well on the 100 due to fatigue so I am not at aby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hans - that's good news. After reading all you've published on the conference room, I checked one of the supplements I take to balance glucose - it's like a multivitamin, and sure enough, copper is included. I was about ready to go out and buy copper...but I've been getting it for years. I hope your success continues. Jackieby Jackie - AFIBBERS FORUM
To all re: cranberry juice. I would worry alot about any significant consumption of cranberry juice due to the sugar content. And, I would find it difficult to imagine that anyone could drink any large amount of unsweetened cranberry juice since either sugar, high fructose corn syrup or any of the artificial sweeteners are just like poison to the body. Mont - magnesium glycinate can be more expensive than magnesium oxide - that's for sure, but it is far more effective because it is designed to be highly absorbable or bioavailable. Another hypothesis could be that gas distends the stomach and distorts the diaphragm position.... the vagus nerve is right there in that proximity. My theory is that when the vagus gets moved or crowded, it starts fibrillation. I also agree with Carol that taking antacids should not be considered long- term effective or healthful. Hi Mike - Sorry to hear about your recent event, but very pleased to learn how you are handling it. Becoming educated seems to result in this control over the tendency to panic. Postural changes often seem to end an event; also taking an additional dose or two of magnesium may help lessen the duration and intensity. Thanks Richard..... with that many people suffering, one would think it would be enough to warrant some meaningful research into the eitology of of afib. Research seems to have pretty well taken care of the surgical and drug aspect.
