Thanks for the quick reply, George! Do you know how much potassium is in each serving of this potassium bicarbonate? I wonder how "gentle" this is on a person's stomach and GI tract. I just published another post on this forum about my horrible experience with potassium gluconate powder. I'm looking for alternatives and maybe this bicarbonate form will do the trick. I thought I would try taking NOW brand potassium gluconate powder. I tried 1.5 grams per day divided into 3 daily doses of 500mg each. That didn't work so well because I had a terrible upset stomach, the sudden urge to hit the bathroom, and boderline diarrhea! The stuff was awful. I tried it for one full week and these side effects never went away until I stopped taking it. I know potassiby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
There has to be natural supplements that thin blood as good as Warfarin, Eliquis, et al. We're told that you should avoid all these "blood thinning supplements" such as fish oil and vitamin E if you are already on a prescription blood thinner. Why is that? Doesn't that mean these supplements may in fact be "powerful enough" on their own to thin the blood? Ifby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM

David: I'm relatively new here so I wasn't around when your ablation journey began but I'm happy to hear your success nonetheless. Congrats and I wish you continued NSR for many years to come! Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Your nurse said that because like all fish oils, krill oil is a natural blood thinner. To what extent, I have no idea. I'm still trying to figure that out. Krill oil has other health benefits than fish oil. Specifically it contains Astaxanthin, an antioxidant. Dr. Mercola is a big fan of krill oil and you can read his comments about it here: Before you run out and take krill oil, hoby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Did I read that right...that you can take up to 16 GRAMS of fish oil a day with Coumadin? If so, does that mean one could safely take 4-5 grams per day while on the newer blood thinners? I'm currently on Eliquis for my ablation but I cut way back on my fish oil - only 2 grams per day. Can I safely double that? Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Nancy: I'm new here to the forum so I don't know your back story but I just want to let you know I'm happy to here of your success story. Good news. I figured out what the heck was causing all my issues. It was the potassium gluconate I was taking. I started the potassium the same day I started Eliquis (stupid move in hindsight) so for a week I just assumed it was the Eliquis. As I started eliminating supplements nothing helped until I stopped taking the potassium. It was instant relief! After more research I discovered GI upsetby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the response everyone. Jackie - glad you mentioned the AA/EPA ratio testing. I had mine done a month ago and I was just above 3 - so not terrible but not ideal either. Then I went on Eliquis and had to back off my fish oil. I'll resume my 4-5 grams of daily fish oil once I'm off Eliquis. Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM

Like many of you here, I've been taking fish oil supplements for years. I usually take about 4 grams per day. I take Dr. Sears OmegaRX. It's expensive but in my opinion it's worth it because it's pure and has zero fish oil smell and you don't get burps from it. Recently I added some of Dr. Sinatra's products to the mix and he uses Calamarine in his omega products,by tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks Peggy and Shannon. It's not only the loose bowels but I have this general discomfort in my gut and the "urge to go #2" in the late afternoon hours. I will say, it's now day 4 of being on Eliquis and today was much much better so as Shannon pointed out, maybe it's something I ate or my nerves. I'll ride it out for a while and see if it gets better. I'mby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
I'm only on day two of Eliquis in preparation of my ablation in March and I seem to be having issues right out of the gate. About 6 hours after I take the pill in the morning (I take it at 10 a.m.) there is a period of about 2 hours where I have a slightly upset stomach and I have to go to the bathroom at least 2 times and I have really bad diarrhea. Oddly enough when I take it at nightby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Congrats John. You sound like me. I too was a junk food person and maintained my weight by hardcore exercises. And like you, I have changed my lifestyle around as well. Good to hear the ablation was a success. Have a great 2015! Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thanks everyone! Good to hear I can implement this protocol without too many concerns. Jackie - I'll stick to 2-3 grams of fish oil as per your suggestion and see how it goes. Ron: I can totally empathize with you as my situation is somewhat similar. I have had afib for 9 years now but until 2014 I only had one episode per year - sometimes once every two years. In the summer of 2014 my afib spun out of control and I was getting episodes every month and then every week or two. I read Hans Larsen's Post Ablation Care article here in the Afib Resources and he said he took these three supplements for the first month after his ablation to combat inflammation. George if you try it let us know how it goes. Like I said, I've been taking it for a few weeks now but I have no idea if it's really absorbing or not. It has ZERO laxative affect no matter how much you take. I took 1,000mg of it at once and it didn't affect me at all as far as the laxative affect goes. After a bunch of research in here I understand we want to look for amino acid chelated forms of magnesium glycinate - specifically Albion patent products. I'm sure you're all aware of Dr. Carolyn Dean, the magnesium expert and author of the Magnesium Miracle. She developed a magnesium product called ReMag, or is heavily involved with the product.
