Does anyone have any stats or studies that show what percentage of paroxysmal afibbers go to persistent? And are there any markers that indicate when it is likely to happen? For example, if you are paroxysmal for ten years then you are even less likely to go to persistent...markers like that is what I'm wondering about. I ask this because I've had a few people email me asking this quby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM

I'm working on putting together an article for my blog and I would like some info from some of the seasoned afibbers in here. I get at least one email a week through my blog asking me about natural blood thinners. Specifically, what supplements help "thin" the blood or keep your blood "slippery." The two I'm most familiar with are vitamin E and nattokinase (Cardiokinby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie: Where can a guy have the Cardiac or High Sensitivity C-reactive Protein test done? I've never had one done. I'd be curious to know what my levels are. And just out of curiosity, if it shows your levels are high what can you do? It seems this would require some serious lifestyle changes Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
If your budget allows and you can find a doctor to administer it, I'd recommend the EXA test at least once just to get a more indepth look at all the electrolytes as Jackie has mentioned. I'd do a RBC test at the same time to see if there is any correlation. Then moving forward I would stick to the RBC as your guide. I have had a RBC and a EXA test done every year for the past coupleby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
BD: I have an extensive article on this topic as well that you might want to check out. I talk about magnesium and magnesium testing. Everything George has mentioned in this thread is spot on. I personally take ReMag as it's the only form I can take in high doses without any side effects (i.e. loose stools). I take about 600mg per day. Travisby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
I just published a review of an online pharmacy in Canada where you can buy prescription drugs at a fraction of the cost of what they are here in the U.S. You can read it here: If your insurance prescription coverage is poor or you don't have coverage at all, this is an online pharmacy that you might want to check out. A reader of my blog sent me an email that I found very interesting. She claims to have found a way to keep her afib episodes (and their intensity) at a minimum for the past 5 years. She pointed me to this doctor and his article on the topic of iodine supplementation for the treatment of afib: As the doctor points out in his article, it's interesting that one of the most effective drugby tvanslooten - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for the detailed explanation, Shannon. I didn't post that article on my blog because I thought it was very misleading as well (which is why I posted it here for clarification). I also didn't catch the low dose part of the study. I thought they were referring to the usual 5mg 2x daily dose of Eliquis. At any rate, it's all cleared up now Have a good one! I stumbled upon this study and it says that stroke rates were greater with Eliquis than with Warfarin. I thought all the studies showed just the opposite...that Eliquis was actually just as good if not better than Warfarin in preventing strokes. Is my memory wrong on this or is this an outlier study? Hey gang. I hope all is well. I just published an interview I did with JRC Insurance Group of San Diego, CA. We discussed the topic of life insurance and how it impacts afibbers. Thanks for the info, George! I'll have a look at those devices. I'm not sure I want to invest "less than $1,000" for a continuous monitoring device, however.
