Hi Gill, yes I am very aware of your story and I unknowingly followed your path to Bordeaux from 2007 to 2010 - 3 times- if my memory is correct. I would certainly consider a try at cardioversion however no chance 1 year on amiodarone, 2 weeks on that stuff was enough for me when I started out on this adventure in 2006. If your husband is physically in reasonable shape perhaps he could take theby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi ElectroBlu. From my experiences of battling AFIB since 2006 I 100% go with the post from vanlith above, its all about getting your life back. I am sure many will have experienced thinking they have got on top of this curse only for it to reappear again for no apparent reason. As an example I booked an ablation in Bordeaux in 2007 or was it 2008 after having an ablation at Escorts hospital in nby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
RIP Erling. I really enjoyed Erlings posts on the BB from when I first joined the afibbers crowd around 2006/7. As I recall he had a wicked dry/blunt sense of humour regarding afib and I will never forget one of his sayings "when you walk thru the door of afib that door slams shut behind you" or words to that effect i.e. you may appear to 'cure' it with diet, drugs or ablatby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yes Carey I agree that it does seem silly what the Dr claims about the heart not being a pump. After saying that I am a Mechanical Construction Manager on major projects and have overseen many enormous hydraulic systems such as building Chilled Water Systems (Air Conditioning) and Fire Protection Systems etc. In all these systems the main issue is getting the fluid to the most distant points in tby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for your input DavidK. Yes I believe its the same Dr Cowan that I watched on a Utube video. All a bit iffy but still found it interesting as I am always interested in any other reason that afib affects so many with what appears to be no rhyme or reason. Cheers, Barry G.by Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just come across an artical which states the heart is not a pump and that the blood has its own momentum i.e. According to Steiner, science “sees the heart as a pump that pumps blood through the body. Now there is nothing more absurd than believing this, for the heart has nothing to do with pumping the blood.” Now if the above could be true then the medical world would appear to be on the wronby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
NotLyingAboutMyAfib, Yes correct to both Cary and George's posts. Living in Hong Kong China I get most general hospital treatments almost free so there is always some kind of waiting list. I was not on any anticoagulant so no doubt that was a major reason to put me farther back on the list for the cardio-version as EPs here are few and far between and a TEE was not even mentioned. I had an ECV for Atrial Flutter in early August last year after being AFIB free for 10 years thanks to Bordeaux. The Flutter kicked in whilst at the gym and lasted two months none stop before the hospital would carry out the successful ECV. I believe I am lucky to have kept out AF/AFL and any other arrythmias since then. The main concern is whether its Right sided AFL or Left sided AFL. Prof Jaisby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
To me AFIB was severe mental torture apart from the fact that it physically stopped me in my tracks. I could go on for ages but I think this saying I picked up on this forum many years ago sums it all up for me.........which illness would make you think 'I am not frightened of dying of this, I am frightened of living with it'. Obviously it all depends on your individual AFIB burden. P.by Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
I cannot say I know how EMF affects the body but this 4 minute video clearly shows how our bodies 'store' surrounding EMF when in nature we would not 'store' EMF at all. My AFIB career started July 2006 or at least thats when I found I had it after a regular Hospital check up in Bangkok. Everything went down hill very quickly from then on with what I found out later to be Atrial Flutter starting up first and then converting to AFIB within an hour or so. I could not sense the AFL but could feel the AFIB very easily. What I could feel with the AFL was a dramatic laby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM

If my memory serves me correctly in 2002 there were 800 deaths attributed to pneumonia in Hong Kong. In 2003 SARs came to town and 800 people died of SARs but no one died of pneumonia. Those figures are not 100% accurate but I'm sure you get my drift. I'm with you on this one Carey, the hysteria is totally crazy its just the flu with another name. I live in Hong Kong arguably the flu capital of the world and the place has gone crazy. I would guess 99% of the population wear face masks even though the 'top' medical boards in the world (Western) strongly state that the masks are a total waste of time. Hi kbog. I would certainly go for the cardioversion as a first step, I am currently 6 months out from one and in solid NSR touch wood. I have had 5 ablations, 2 for atypical flutter (Left Sided Flutter) with the last one in 2010 for atypical flutter. I fully believe that the Flutter kicked in because the major 'damages' of the AFIB ablations will not let AF start up. I had all myby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was in Left Atrial Flutter when Prof Haissagurre in Bordeaux performed the ablation and he said its very good that I was. I took this to mean a 'natural' occurring arrhythmia gives a 'real time' view of what is really going on inside the heart rather than a triggered arrhythmia. This is only my own perception of his remark. Hi Gill, I remember those days when if it came to ablations it was Milan Italy, Cleveland??? USA and Bordeaux France, not necessarily in that order. This may well have been because this Forum is English speaking and the original creator Hans (Larsen) a Canadian??? went to Bordeaux as did countless others, me included, following in his footsteps. Hi Carola, I have had 5 ablations 3 for AFIB/Right Sided Flutter and two for Left Sided Flutter. The Left Sided Flutter's started very soon after successful AFIB ablations which apparently is not uncommon. Until reading Carey's post above I though all Atypical Flutter was Left Sided Flutter. Hi Cirenpurzalot, "How are you feeling now". I am 70 going on 25. There were far many people worse off that me i.e. the people who cannot afford an ablation and others failing to find their triggers and eliminating them. Hi Cirenepurzalot, "Why don't they just get an ablation and be done with it?" My guess is many cannot afford an ablation and many of the rest may well fear an ablation. I had no fear of ablation whatsoever and could not wait to have one asap possibly because I was having up to 48 hour long AFIB attacks with only 12 hours or so in between the attacks toward the end and beforeby Barry G. - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Carey, your line.... 'They fail because sources of afib remained in hiding during the procedure and only revealed themselves later'.
