Maybe, because this is like no other illness and HC providers had very little time to react. I am hoping for this treatment because I wont be taking any of their vaccines.

Hi hwkmn05,

Hydroxychloroquine has gotten rave reviews, but I personally like Losartan. As I've said in my original post, it's not about the virus, it's about the inflammation.

Clinicians are beginning to realize that COVID19 is more like high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) and ventilators are no good. Oxidative stress is the culprit.

Effect of AT1 receptor blockade on intermittent hypoxia-induced endothelial dysfunction
[www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]
“These results indicate that the blood pressure elevation and endothelial dysfunction associated with chronic intermittent hypoxia is dependent, at least in part, on RAS signaling.” (blocked by losartan)

Role of Endothelial ADAM17 in Early Vascular Changes Associated With Diabetic Retinopathy
[pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] (Feb 2020)
“We demonstrate that a disintegrin and metalloproteinases (ADAMs) 12 and 17 expressed in endothelial cells are the molecules responsible for the impairment of neural vascular barrier by hypoxia.
Loss of ADAM17 in endothelial cells markedly reduced oxidative stress evidenced by decreased levels of superoxide, 3-nitrotyrosine, and 4-hydroxynonenal and decreased leukocyte-endothelium adhesive interactions in vivo and in vitro.”

“ADAM12 and ADAM17 are essential molecules for hypoxia-induced impairment of neural vascular barrier function”
“Hypoxic disappearance of claudin-5 from cell membranes and the consequent loss of barrier properties were completely suppressed by inhibition of the metalloproteinase activity which was found to be attributed to ADAM12 and ADAM17. Inhibition of either ADAM12 or ADAM17 was sufficient to rescue the in vivo neural vasculature under hypoxia from the loss of barrier function.”

P.C.

Do you know of anyone that has had the virus and used Losartan and gotten better?

Hi Liz,

I have friends in The Bronx who work at Albert Einstein in a healthcare capacity. They are both in the early 60s and both converted to positive COVID-19. He’s hypertensive And she has osteoporosis. Amazingly neither ever had any symptoms whatsoever after several weeks. Turns out he was on 25 mg of losartan and she gets 50,000 IUs IM of vitamin D per week.

This is all anecdotal. But what really amazes me is that no one even talks about ARBs now, despite all of the early encouragement out of China.

This was on the radar before hydroxychloroquine and seems to have all but disappeared. Why is that? Is it because of the ACE2 receptor connection scaring people away? That makes no sense whatsoever and contradicts so many other known facts. ACE2 is all good.

My takeaway from this interview with Nadir Ali MD is that ARB's and other BP meds that upregulate the number of ACE2 receptors may be a detriment chronically, but ARBs may be beneficial acutely during a COVID-19 episode.

The stock futures are up bigtime on the news that Gilead Sciences has a drug--Remdesivir-- that is showing effectiveness against Coronavirus.

"Gilead shares jumped by 14% in after-hours trading after STAT news reported that a Chicago hospital treating coronavirus patients with Remdesivir in a trial were recovering rapidly from severe symptoms. The publication cited a video it obtained where the trial results were discussed.

Hi George,

Listened to the entire interview.
I can see why you like the guy.
I too like almost everything he says, but he's mixing up two separate issues: balance and root causes in health v treating an infectious disease.

I guess nobody understands the image I keep posting about AT1R blockage and the ACE2 receptor.

The virus can't enter the cell if it is still attached to the ACE2 receptor. TACE is required for that cleavage and losartan blocks that action. He doesn't appear to grasp this important function of ARBs.

He also doesn't seem to realize that the virus can also enter cells with CD147 receptors as well. Interestingly losartan helps prevent this too.

But to each his own. I've started taking 25mg losartan per day and have dropped my systolic from 125 to 115. If this is destroying "the balance", so be it. Healthy mice given losartan live 26% longer lives than healthy mice not receiving the drug. There are so many other benefits to numerous to list.

PC MD:

As you indicated, You posted your Covid-19 protocol here [www.afibbers.org].
That was a month ago, on March 16th. Is that the regimen you still would follow yourself or recommend? In other words, would you make any revisions yet, now that it is a month later?

As for me, I was already on the following pre-Covid-19 supplement regimen:

Lorsartan 100mg (for HBP).
Vit C 500mg
Vit D3 10,400iu (informal participant in Steve Kerrs exogenous Ca+ reduction initiative)
Zinc 15mg
Mg 500mg
Selenium 50mcg

I have a question on the Vit C. According the the link referenced here [orthomolecular.org], Vit C is at 3,000mg. I am reading different things on what a healthy baseline preventative dosage should be in the Covid-19 world. Does it make sense to up my daily dose to around 1000mg/day if I am feeling fine, and then immediately ramp up to 3,000mg if I get C-19 symptoms?

Aloha The Anti Fib,

Wouldn't change a thing. Looks like you're good. Always good to remember to do what you can to eliminate comorbidities naturally, e.g., exercise, diet.
I get my selenium from Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds, but that's just me.
I only take about 2000 mg Vit C per day, but your strategy looks good. Until I switched to liposomal Vitamin C I got a lot of gas, but Jackie's the expert on this.

This whole controversy on ARBs/ACEIs and the ACE2 receptor preference for SARS CoV2 is looking more and more suspicious to me. So many intelligent people keep expressing their ignorance without any supporting data. It is soooo easy to discredit the negativity. It massively contradicts so much that we already know about ACE/ACE2, which is higher in all the comorbidities (=> should be protective) and lower in females and especially the prepubescent (=> should increase risk).

Drill down to Table 2 on p29 and you will see clear evidence that ARBs/ACEIs are not only not bad but VERY good compared to other antihypertensives in preventing severe or critical disease in this comorbidity.

Conspiracy theory? Global warming wasn't cutting it in the effort to create a crisis for the monetary reset, but COVID 19 is settling in nicely. However, a simple solution to the virus might upset the apple cart.

Hi PC,

Have you seen this article?

< [www.ahajournals.org];

Implies that ACEis might actually increase initial infectivity but then be beneficial in later more serious stages of the disease.

Hope you are keeping well.

Like the CT BTW! Dark pools of capital behind the scenes and all that..... the transfer of wealth to the few from the many with the latter picking up the tab for the next 10 years...

Aloha Mike,

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately the link was dead. But no matter.
I really don’t care about infectivity but about the inflammation induced.

Here in Hawaii everybody hates Trump and embraces global warming.
HI is one of the 8 states that went over 60% for Hillary. These same eight states are at the absolute bottom of the 50 in terms of state debt.

Trump just officially opened up the economy at the discretion of the governors and our leftie governor Ige just increased restrictions on the quarantine. No wonder we are bankrupt. That’s the goal and no one seems to realize it. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Better get prepared for the monetary reset (and the transfer of wealth).

Sorry for the rant. Apologies if deemed inappropriate here.

PS I haven’t voted in over 35 years.

Hi George,
Thanks for the link.
I read the article and it doesn’t do anything more than raise the same questions and is all speculation.
Furthermore, it ignores the data we do have without having to wait a year for some clinical trial. How many will die in the meantime?
Table 2 on page 29 is actionable real time data.
Nobody seems to talk about the actual physiology of AT1R, TACE, and the actual consequences of blockage, which is no cellular invasion by SARS CoV 2. The data we do have actually supports the physiology.
But the beat goes on. Flu vaccine continues to trump (no pun) Vit D supplementation. Better to speculate than actually look at the data.

Sorry about the link PC and cheers George for sorting the job out!

(totally OT just been reading about US state debt here - [worldpopulationreview.com] (just checked it - it works! HI 7th from bottom on table 2/3rds way down)

From Apr 17, 2020

Mortality amongst hypertensive COVID inpatients is almost 3 times greater in those not taking ACEIs/ARBs.

P.C.

You are very right these Socialist are even speaking out that this is a good time to finally bring their socialist agendas upon us. They are talking about just giving money to people, they won't have to work for it, no gas, no coal etc.etc.. Golbal warming my foot, this is almost the end of April and we have very cold weather and snow. I remember as a kid our weather was much warmer starting in the first of March.

You should vote P.C.,

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for the post. It’s always nice to get feedback.

As you suggested, universal basic income will be the carrot that opens the flood gates of socialism, paid for by higher taxes generated by a sovereign cryptocurrency, wealth tax, ...

I actually wrote under a pseudonym a free ebook (Amazon, Barnes & Noble,…) about this in the middle of 2017 entitled From Freedom to Fascism. It was only about 20,000 words. Then at the end of 2018 I added an addendum specifically indicating how this would unfold. It was initially accepted by everybody, but then Amazon quickly edited out the entire addendum without explanation. I can only surmise that its contents were too close to the truth. Better to keep everybody dumb and dependent.

A shortage of toilet paper will be the least of your worries.

Just go to B&N (not Amazon) and search the title. "Author" is my two golden retrievers. Let me know if B&N have also removed it, although I doubt it. Look at "Plan B."
