I was recently diagnosed during vacation in Europe with AF and live in the season in Ft. Myers. How can I get in contact with Dr. Pinski of the Cleveland Clinic in Weston ?? Does the clinic take my insurance?I have Medicare and Tricare for life. Thank you very much in advance, Erikaby erika101 - AFIBBERS FORUM

Diane. I paid only $1,400 out of pocket for my $81,000 total bill for a 2008 Natale ablation in Texas that included a 4 days hospital stay. So far I have only received the portion of my most recent LAA isolation ablation bill with Dr. Natale that was submitted to insurance and that shows the overall cost for the whole ablation itself including all catheters, imaging equipment used, drugs uby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM

Tom, When I had my PVAI by Dr. Sergio Pinski at the Cleveland Clininc, Weston, FL, I had an arterial line inserted. It gave me great comfort because I know that to be the best way to monitor blood pressure during anesthesia. In the past I was prone to hypotension during any type of anesthesia. Sure enough, in the recovery room, after the procedure, my BP was too low for comfort. Increased IVby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jay, Hans gave you good advice regarding Dr. Pinski. He did a PVAI (pulmonary vein antrum isolation) procedure for me on 4/16/07 and I have been afib free from that time. He is a caring, competent physician. I highly recommend him. Marianby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Jay, I second the suggestion of Dr Pinski in your neck of the woods. He was trained by Dr Natale and has a growing reputation in his own right as an excellent ablation it's. Just a minor point of terminology but when asking for the best catheter ablation doc, they are known as Electrophysiologist and are technically not cardiac surgeons. Some Cardiac surgeons also treat AFIB via a mby Shannon - AFIBBERS FORUM

Hello, I'm 39 and have a long history with afib. My condition got bad enough (everyday episodes) 2 years ago to require an ablation. I'm in Florida and luckily I came to this site then and got wonderful advice to see Dr. Pinski at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL. I've been completely afib free now for many months. It's been a miracle. Well now my older brother, whby jimangie1973 - AFIBBERS FORUM
To me it is the EP who performs the ablation. I would like to see the results of a Dr. Natale or a Dr. Pinski (who performed 2 ablations for me) over the years and then we have some real large numbers. In conclusion, I do not put much faith in this study and as for the use of the word "cure" I would rather see the numbers of those who have been afib free and for how long and forget thby Benj - AFIBBERS FORUM

On April 16, 2007, Dr. Sergio Pinski of the Cleveland Clinic, Weston, FL, freed me of Afib by a successful PVAI. I have not had any Afib since then. Two years, I had a few runs of trigeminy and quadrigeminy, but they were short lived. If I am troubled by gastric distress, I may have some tachycardia, but it goes away as soon as the 'gas' goes away. I am grateful to God, for this foby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
I was required to get a CT scan to provide the 'road map' for the ablation. When I needed a touch-up, essentially a 2nd ablation about a year later, the same order for a CT was issued. The procedures were done at the CC in Weston, FL by Dr. Pinski. The 2nd ablation was set and I got a call from the CC telling me the CT machine was down and the ablation would be postponed. Hello Dee, I don't have any information re. Dr. Daniel Rieder so can not comment on his success rate. However, I know that Dr. Sergio Pinski at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida have performed hundreds of successful afib ablations and I would recommend him without hesitation. Before my ablation in April 2007, Dr. Sergio Pinski ordered a spiral CT scan for as he said: "a road map of my heart." He wanted to know all of the anatomical ins and outs of my heart before he got in there. Doesn't seem as if Cindy had a pre-ablation scan or MRI. Marianby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi Bob, I am so happy to hear from you. It really has been a long time, but glad to know you are hangin' in there and that you remain free of Afib. I have not forgotten how much you helped me and my husband when i was having my cardiac ablation by Dr. Pinski. It's been almost 5 years now, and I, too, remain Afib free. Seems you have quite a heavy burden caring for your sons. I willby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
Well, it has been a while since I have been able to get on here. Had to get a new computer, and didn't think I would be able to get right back on because of the necessary security. I tried for the first time tonight, and was able to get on. Thought I would say hello to all of you wonderful people who helped me starting way back in 99 or 2000. I have not been on the board for quite a long time. Tikosyn was a God send for me! They tried everything else medication wise, gave me a pcaemaker, then an AV Node Ablation, which made me pacemaker dependent. I live in Florida, near Gainesville, and had that ablation at the University of Florida Shands Hospital. That was in the late 90's. That gave me more AFIB. Mike, I had tachycardia post ablation, also. Dr. Pinski prescribed atenolol 25mg for several weeks, which was very helpful. As your heart heals and the inflammation subsides, your heart rate should also decrease to more comfortable levels. Yes, my heart rate did return to its normal resting rate within about 3 months or so. Marianby Marian from Miami - AFIBBERS FORUM
Barb, Yes I would Gregg spoke very highly of him. Remember the Cleveland Clinic is probably one of the best in the world. Losing a superstar didn't break them and I'm sure they are right up there with Natale's team. Pinski I've heard of but I really haven't researched him enough to comment. Sorry, it was April 16th, not the 15th of 2007. My first PVA was done with conscious sedation, but the pain I experienced when the burns were done was just not bearable. I fought with the doctor and yelled at him. The pain also caused me to try to move around, something you don't want to do when a catheter is inside of your heart.
