Box warning definition: (Mentioned drugwatch so I’m sharing their definition as well) AI overview: A "black box" label, or boxed warning, is the FDA's most serious warning for prescription drugs and medical devices, highlighting potentially life-threatening side effects or risks. The name comes from the thick black border used to make the warning stand out on the produby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteGeorgeN I want to second that from personal experience. My EP started my on 50 mg twice per day but over the years whenever I had a breakthrough of Afib, she insisted on raising the dose. I told her that I was uncomfortable taking a high dose due to only weighing 125 lbs but she insisted that it was necessary and perfectly safe for me to take 150 mg twice daily. It was NOT! QuoteCallydex Reddy did everything - I always make sure of that. That was one of my questions I had asked him. He said he would do the ablation and his fellow would only assist in mapping. Good luck . Hopefully #4 will be successful. Did Reddy use pulse or RF during your 3 ablations? He started the trials around 2018-19 at Mt Sinai.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I I just had a virtual appointment with Dr Reddy. He was upfront and told me I may need two more ablations (PVCs this time). I do have a question for you. Mt Sinai is a teaching hospital. Did fellows assisted Dr Reddy? Dr Natale did everything.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
Technology has improved. I wished I had the Rapid Direct Mapping of the Superior Vena Cava which might had prevented needing a pacemaker after an unintended sinus dysfunction. In addition to using the best skilled EP (Natale and others), pick the best cath lab. Austin I was told has the best imaging. I used a satellite hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA which lacked some of the cutting edge equby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I agreed to a PVC ablation because I reached my tolerance level of not having a normal life. So today I was told to see the head cardiologist of heart failure. I told him I get fecal dumps and is it similar to urine dumps (“big pee”) some get during arrhythmias? His expression was like that of a robot, he starred into space and thought long and hard and said no, no connection. Then he lookeby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM

Thank you for your kind words. My PVCs were intense last night and I was up the entire night with the runs. This time I threw up 8 times. So it’s a catch 22 with getting dehydrated from vomiting and not able to replace my electrolytes which messes up my heart.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I can’t stop my PVCs and they are getting so bad I want to lay down with oxygen. I don’t leave the house except for taxis to the hospital which wears me out. I don’t have the energy or strength to fly to the states or France. Each flight my o2 drops to 81-82. I chose private so I get two EPs instead of students/fellows/etc. he wants a TEE to confirm my watchman doesn’t have clots. He wants an echby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteCarey I'm actually not sure of the answer to that. We used to get a small benefit from it but since COVID we haven't seen any money come in. Not sure whether that's because no one here uses it or something glitched. I'm going to talk to iHerb on Monday and find out. In the meantime, buy them wherever you get the best price. You should consider getting a sleep lab test to include nocturnal hypoxia and take the test where they make you walk up and down the hallway and then measure your o2. My o2 dropped to 70 when I came down with Covid. I had the same symptoms as you with my long covid. I was taking Sotalol in 2022 with no problems. Perhaps it is the combination of taking Sotalol with another drug that causedby susan.d - GENERAL HEALTH FORUM
QuoteCarey PFA's main claim to fame is improved safety, not improved efficacy. I recently had a zoom appointment with a well known experienced NY EP. He was the head of one of the trials. I asked him since PFA seems to be safer, would he ablate my LV using PFA? His reply was no because they simply are not as experienced with PFA ventricular ablations. QuoteVictoria Susan, Did the AV node ablation get rid of your flutter for good? Carey and George are correct. It’s a final solution. It’s so drastic and irreversible. It has its pros and cons. I have been ER free of atrial flutter tachycardia since my AV node ablation the first week of December 22. I was admitted with 190hr flutter in the hospital 23 days out of 30 during 11-22 and they trby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM

I didn’t feel today’s PVCs. These I felt. It’s my usual pattern. What then is the burden % below ?by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had 3 holster monitors for up to 7 days-43% burden, 22% burden and recently a Zio patch 32% burden. Lately it felt like continuous burden which is symptomatic. You haven’t tried everything until you tried the last resort, no going back, AV node ablation for your flutter. It stopped my 190hr flutter but it comes with a cost because it’s a drastic ablation. Good luck with your procedure.by susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have a health issue that has required me since age 11 to take 1mg a day of folic acid. It didn’t help my arrhythmias. I do juice and blend (trying to make V8) and found the natural sugars do cause my heart to rumble. For me, slouching and squatting and bending over still triggers arrhythmias. I think each of us are individually different. That said, i developed a high 33% PVC burden after two of my ablations-about 6 weeks afterwards. I was instructed by my EP to try an experiment, which stopped my PVCs cold turkey. Physicians are being warned that sedated patients have a higher risk of air bubbles entering the heart, which can be extremely dangerous. This risk can be lowered by using a breathing machine that gently pushes air into the lungs, known as positive pressure ventilation. How many redo ablations are enough? Each kills good heart tissue and for a few of us an ablation can contribute to flutter which may require yet another ablation. I would watch and avoid your triggers and sit tight for a bit. There is no free lunch thinking an ablation is a cure for afib. It just fixes the existing firing cells and makes a monkey cage barricade. But if you have a genetically dispby susan.d - AFIBBERS FORUM
