Can I ask how fast your heart rate was and for how long to need cardioversion? thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
geez Carey....I thought it was on this site but I have been following several and perhaps I was wrong. If so, my sincere apologies. BNby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have seen it mentioned several times on this site that when looking for an EP we should make sure that it is a "Castle Connelly Top Doctor." I was poking around online and I came across this article, and would appreciate your thoughts. Thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
ok..;My EP said is not junctional tachycardia...despite what the EP analyzing the ECG said.. Rhythms are regular, but going up to 115 at rest intermittently...sometimes for an hour or two, then goes down under 100...not taking any meds beside Eliquis and would prefer not to...don't want to hurt my heart.by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
the EP called it junctional tachycardia..looks like SINUS but no p-wave? I will hope for the best. Also they prescribe Prevacid for 2 weeks to help protect the esophagus and I read that it may cause rapid heartbeats (?). but I will be done with that med in 2 weeks--no colchicine this time...no chest pain :-). I am hoping it will pass...when I am not having an episode I feel great. :-) thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had a 2nd ablation on Halloween, first one May 16.....this one focused on redos on both right side for flutter (I apparently have a challenging anatomy there) and some patching up on PVIs and then a search on left side for other flutter sites but nothing found. After a good night in Sinus rhythm, the next morning still in hospital I developed what the ECG report calls junctional tachycardia oby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
thanks! Is it appropriate for me to get a "second opinion" before another ablation? Have others done this?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
My resting heart rate has also gone up from the 60s to the 80s is this something that another ablation might help?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks so much to you both...this site is has been so very helpful to me.by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Afib ablation on May 16 ...now EP has told me they recommend another ablation for flutter...recent Zio shows <1% flutter but a bunch of SVT ...short but often up and down., especially evenings. Have you ever heard of a Zio calling it SVT when it really is flutter? thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you.. I am suspecting more and more that my problems have to do with some thing about my vagus nerves and my heart. i've been having some digestive issues and I'm scheduled to see a gastroenterologist in a month or soby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
My afib/flutter ablation was on May 16. While I have not had afib after the first month (that I know of), I have had palpitations and some flutter. I am halfway through a 14 day Zio patch that will hopefully shed more light on what is going on and what is next for me. Recently I have the most pronounced palpitations at night---at bedtime of waking me up after some sleep. In the past week it tby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Can I ask how long you have been on reduced Eliquis? Did you start with 5 mg? thanks, and congratulations. Barbaraby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
How to you balance the need to stay hydrated with the need for sleep? What balance have you found makes it possible to sleep through more than two hours at a time at night? Any tips? thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
How important/useful is it the EP we choose be listed as a Castle Connolly top doctor? If my EP is not and others at the same academic hospital are how might I find out why tactfully? Does it matter at all?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to all who have responded...I am curious about when a second afib ablation is needed shortly after a first one due to recurrence, or atrial flutter/ PACs, etc.by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Do we know why the need for a second ablation is so common? Is it because the EP/team made errors the first time and suggest we should find a different EP? thanksby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
I am 7 weeks past afib/flutter ablation. Having some PACs but afib and flutter seem to have subsided, at least for now. My resting heart rate was about 65 before the ablation but now has gone up to 81. I am only on Eliquis....I do not want to take the rate and rhythm control drugs unless I have to. Have others experiences increased resting heart rate? If yes, does it go back down over time?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you Carey! You are so very helpful.by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had an ablation for afib/flutter 6 weeks ago. Initially there were short recurrences of afib according to my Kardia but they stopped 3 weeks ago. A few days ago I was feeling palpitations after a bit too much of a hike and the Kardia said"Unclassified" and then "Possible Atrial Fibrillation" for over an hour. I sent to my EP team who replied that there were some Prematurby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks to both of you for your responses I have had low level nausea and I am making sure I take with meals my ..heart rate has gotten considerably lower and I have not felt any palpitations in the past few days.. just a few PACs . fingers crossed .I know that flutter is hard to pick up without a 12 lead EKG and I just have a Kardia and Watch.. No Afib episodes in the past 10 days so hoping thatby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey...I started taking the Multaq just now, finally got up the nerve..your encouragement helped a lot. Can I ask you (or others who have taken Multaq) what side effects you had and when did the occur after beginning this drug? My EP's NP told me to stop the diltiazem before starting the Multaq,...so now I am just taking Multaq and Eliquis. I have been doing a 2 mile brisk walk with my dby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks so much Carey. If it is a left side atypical flutter is the ablation difficult ?(if mine does not go away). Also, I am in sinus most of the time but with some flutter. How much flutter did you have after your last ablation? And was your last ablation to fix the flutter caused by a prior ablation?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Sorry for the delay .I've been really struggling...my Chad Score is three and I'm really OK with staying on Eliquis at least for now .since I last wrote I've had a few days of just sinus and then my Kardia and watch say afib for a while again now most days ...my doctor ordered an ECG at a hospital outpatient center and now he is saying it's looking like flutter ..Corey, I thinby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you....so you were able to stop the Propafenone? Do you take an anticoagulant?by bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
I had my ablation for flutter and afib May 16. A few days later I started having some short afibs. My heart rate usually stays below 100 at rest but sometimes goes 100-110 for a bit. During the months waiting for my ablation I took no meds except Eliquis. A primary reason for me having the ablation was to not have to take rate or rhythm control drugs. I track my ECG on an Apple Watch and a Kardiaby bneedell - AFIBBERS FORUM
