Getting ready to fly back home. Feeling really good besides being tired. Haven't slept a whole lot since Monday. Didnt even sleep through the night following my procedure. Nor did I sleep through the night last night. Maybe I can catch a nap on the flight home.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib See if they can get you off the heart healthy diet as soon as possible. My TGs doubled while I was there (but 6 days) - hopefully you won't have an extended stay. They cut me loose this morning. My wife helped me with the salmon last night and my omelet this morning. Kept the oatmeal for myself.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
Ablation went well today. Dr. Natale popped in for a few minutes a short time ago. My LAA was still firing off causing my issues. Not sure what else he did. If you have read through this my original ablation post. I have mentioned that my LAA is really small and that he is unable to use his normal LAA tool. We will talk more tomorrow with the rest of his team. The new EP Wing here is absby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM

QuotePompon I once asked my cardiologist's opinion about the horrors printed on some of the tracings I had been given here and there from pro-grade 12-lead ECGs. She replied I should'nt worry about them. So, if even professional devices fail to diagnose reliably... My EP over the years has said the same thing.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have had noticable changes in heart reactivity following ablation. But was always able to get my HR up to where I needed it.This situation changes over time as well. It's rather odd you are experiencing this.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM

Headed back to Austin next week for what I hope is my final trip. My episodes are still pretty spread out. And aren't having any real affect on my life. Other than being woken up from a deep sleep. Or one or two short episodes while exercising. This is literally how things started out for me all those many years ago.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
Yikes!!!! So glad everything worked out for you. The most I have ever taken in a 24 hr period was 300mg. I had the flu and was a total wreck. Then I went out of rhythm to add to the nightmare. I was tempted to take more but spoke to the attending that night and he strongly advised against it. Actually considering my state he did not sound too thrilled that I had done the 300 mg.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
Over the years I have never had an EP tell me I should limit my heart rate to any specific number. Other than in more recent years when I was in persistent afib. They wanted to keep it below 120 using metoprolol to achieve this. As has been mentioned. Keeping your rate below 100bpm is going to be near impossible if you are going to exercise in the current way you described. Spin classes for oby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM

I too have had issues with laying on ly left triggering ectopics or afib. I also have had shoulder issues off and on over the years. One remedy I have found that seems to have ended my shoulder issues is dead hanging (passive hanging) from a bar fully extended. I hang for about 2 minutes 3 times with breaks in between. In the beginning I did it a couple times a day. Now once a day or every otby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib Fair to say these levels weren't normal and were only taken after supra max efforts like VO2 max test or 5x 2km repeats on the velodrome. I scored a 42 during a VO2 max test several months before my first ablation in full blown afib. I was my own worst enemy.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
Not much to report lately. Still riding and hiking on a pretty regular basis. As regular as working 7/7 schedule, with OT mixed in allows. I did experience a brief episode last Saturday towards the end of the ride. We had done allot of climbing including one ridge climb. This is the first time I allowed my Heart rate to go above 150 bpm. At about 3/4 to the top of the ridge I saw 173 and backed wby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM

It's truly something that is hard to gauge. And it's also going to be individualized. I knew I was having an ablation up front so I increased my training. What also increased as I trained more and harder were my episodes of Afib. It got to the point where I had to phone my wife to come pick me up because I would no longer convert back to NSR quick enough to continue on. This delby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib Rich - what percent of pre-ablation fitness do you feel you have now? Thanks. To give a good answer to your question I would have to refer back to my ablation in 2009. Ablation was done in August 2009. My EP at the time wanted me to take it easy for the first 3 months. I started back to spin classes in November and was back to teaching in December. A few data points from a couple rides with and without metoprolol. 4 rides with elevation gains between 3600-5600. With Metoprolol.... Avg 122 bpm / Max HR 145-154bpm Without Metoprolol.... Avg 144 bpm / Max HR 160-170 bpmby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
QuoteNotLyingAboutMyAfib Rich- hoping to see that switch eventually. Did you take any supplements to nudge it along? I use Mg and K. But at that time. With everything else I had going on. I can't remember if I was at that particular moment in time.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
As noted in my thread covering my ablations with Dr Natale I had some real issues following my first. I was actually a little beyond the standard blanking period when all of a sudden my issues stopped. It was literally like flipping mg a switch.by rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey..... I am able to get my HR up to 150bpm on metoprolol but it takes a long drawn out effort like climbing a long hill. The further into a ride and if it's hilly is when I get to that level. And in all actuality I'm trying not to get it there when on the meds in the first place. It's too exhausting. Quotesusan.d You bike while in af? I could tell you some stories about afib and racing bicycles. However, this is a public forum and the things I did in the early days would not be advisable. I will say this. When you go into afib the lactic acid being produced by your legs likes to just stay there. That is until your heart decides convert back to NSR. QuoteKleinkp My exercise is hobby farming i.e bailing hay, digging, hauling and gardening etc. Is there long term concerns if metopropol has no visible side effects. I don't know. My experience with bailing hay. Hooking bales off the bailer and throwing into the back of the trailer all in a singular motion. Then stacking it. All by my lonesome. It's amazing how such a small amount of a substance can have such a strong effect on you. Currently I'm only taking 25mg BID which many doctors have told me is really nothing and rarely have complaints from patients experiencing low energy and such. When I first started having short runs of afib I was pretty heavy into weight lifting. My episodes would happen in the evening when I was just sitting around relaxing or when I would lay down for bed. Never had issues during a workout. Weather it was a normal day at the gym or Saturday morning group workouts which were pretty intense. There was never any correlation between types of workoutsby rocketritch - AFIBBERS FORUM
