I have been plagued with almost constant, exhausting heart palpitations since March. I have experienced A-Fib, five times since June, 2014: June 23, 2014 - was woken up at night. Symptoms lasted a little over an hour. Reason, I think? The day before during my annual physical, my PC decided to change my BP prescription from Triamterene-HCTZ to just HCTZ. Why? Because he felt my BP was inby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM

I am on Magnesium Taurate, began D-Ribose today. Which Carnitine should I take? L-Carnitine or Acetyl L-Carnitine?by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Both my husband and I opted for Warfarin. It's the oldest anti-coagulant with effective antidotes to stop bleeding. Both our numbers are stable, where we require testing Six to eight weeks out. We also enjoy eating everything contrary to the hype you hear with NOACs. The only requirement is to be consistent with one's diet. Don't have a big salad once a month, but a salad several tby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wow, Wolfpack. So that eliminates the time release Metoprolol.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
You know, George, I asked the cardioligist a similar question when we went for our follow-up after the valve surgery. His respose was...Amioderone needs a coupke of months before it starts working. We're now in month two, still fibrilating. After tomorrow he goes on one a day, instead of two. We meet again on July 3, and I will ask.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Here is the reason I asked. My husband experienced complications after open heart, aortic valve surgery; tachycardia (130/150), Amioderone infusion rendered unsuccessful results and after two attempts at cardioversion, the second took, dropped HR to below 100, while still fibrilating and has continued to do so. He was released and recouping when echo showed Pericardial Effusion and another surgerby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
My husband's very first A-fib episode was 24 hours after a Colonoscopy; mine was when my primary decided to change my BP med which had Triamterene/HCTZ to straight HCTZ. I believe I depleted my potassium levesl, as Triamterene is potassium sparing.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
...Atrial Fibrilation with a slow heart rate; one that hovers around 50?by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Jackie. I will breath a lot easier once we get the OK from the surgeon.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
We are finally home after peri window. A horrific surgery with lots of pain and discomfort. My husband will go back in two weeks for an X-ray and follow-up with the surgeon. Praying all goes well so we can then manage the A-Fib. There is some chatter for another cardioversion. We'll see.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
So my husband is into fifth week after aortic valve replacement surgery followed by complications: Chronic cough, Atrial Fibrillation. After follow-up exam by cardioligist, he determined there was fluid build up and my husband was placed on Lasix for four days to be followed by TEE and Cardioversion scheduled for Monday. Today we went in for an Echocardiogram and the results showed fluid arby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Wolfpack, I am hyper-vigilant regarding this medication, Two more weeks will bring the dosing (IV and pills) to six weeks of treatment. That's ample time for this med to do its "magic". If my husband's cough gets worse or has not improved, I will start my campaign of nagging to get him off the med. The latest excuse for this cough is..."he has water in his lungs"by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Saw Cardiologist for my husband; still A-fib with HR climbing. Scheduled for an EKG Monday AM. If still fibrilating, he will have a cardioversion, his third. We spoke at some length about Amioderone. He felt strongly not to stop the medication, as he's been on it barely a month. This medication needs a couple of months to start working. Got clearence on taking Magnesium Taurate.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, Jackie, for the information. As a newcomer to this "heart" world, a few things remain constant; that is, the importance and right balance of minerals and the gut tolerence especially with magnesium. Tomorrow is the cardiologist appointment. Will come back and report.by Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thank you, George, for the link. While a great deal of it was a little above my pay grade, the conclusion confirmed the importance of the role Magnesium plays in arrythmia. The types of patients examined in this study require treatment for their atrial fibrillation. Our study shows that both amiodarone and magnesium sulphate work safely and sufficiently rapidly for this purpose. Our clinic alrby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
Good morning, everyone. So relieved to have stumbled into this invaluable forum. My husband had open heart valve replacement four weeks ago with complications. The surgery went well, but his HR remained elevated (130-150) accompanied by A-Fib for 11 days. Attempts to regulate it with Amiodarone (first IV, then pills) was unsuccessful. The first cardioversion didn't work, back on Amio Iby Catherine - AFIBBERS FORUM
